Coming battle

Chapter 32

After the meal, Peter asked Juliet to excuse them that he wants to discuss something with Mr Ralph. Juliet refused to leave saying that she wants to be part of it and shares her own idea. Peter scare her off by tell her that he wanted to discuss about her wedding with Mr Ralph. She ran out of the sitting room after she patted Peter's head. "Mr Ralph, I would like to thank you for all you have done for me since I got here. I would like to know the progress of things. If I say that I don't know about the calamity that is about to befall you I'm only lying. I want to know how you have prepared for it, and see if I can be of help." Mr Ralph wasn't surprised by his words, because every time he discuss with Jungle, he do have the feelings that someone was listening to their conversation whenever Peter is around. But whenever he was not around, he doesn't have such feelings, so he had long came to conclusion that Peter was the one listening to their conversation and with how formidable Peter was, he was certain about his conclusion.

"I know you were aware of it, but what I never expected was for you to show concern about it. When you first came, I got this scary feeling that if you were to turn against me, I would die without knowing what hits me or die instantly. I also believe that you were not sent by my opponent, so I decided to help you so I can also obtain help. I don't know how you will feel, but it's true that I was only being nice because of what I wanted to gain from you. But mind you, what I wanted from you is just for the safety of Juliet. I wasn't hoping for you to give me a hand so I can overcome this turbulence. I know for someone like you who could direct nations with the tip of your hand to decided to retire and live a lonely life, you must have your own difficulties. So I never hope to get your hands in these. All I want was for Juliet to survive and have someone who could look after her and protect her. I know you are capable but I'm not sure if it will be easy for you to do." Mr Ralph responded sincerely.

Peter was only trying to test the man if he could be considered good in his own view. Men are neither bad nor good, because what someone did that you think is good, might be considered bad to others. There are only good deeds and bad deeds, people we considered evil do good deeds and people we considered good also do bad deeds. "I'm happy that you are being sincere with me, I will surely try my best to take good care of her. You are right, I might be formidable, but with my present state, I'm even helpless to myself. Even if I have nothing limiting my strength, there are people around who will consider me as ant but you won't know because you level is nothing beside theirs. The fact that you were able to discovered that I'm not ordinary shows that at least you can also be considered formidable to others. Even though I might not be of help, I want to know the kind of situation you are in."

"The situation we are in is like an inherited battle. The opponent I'm facing was the one responsible for the death of my boss who was also Juliet's dad. At first I wanted to fight it out with him after my boss's death, but when I realized that I'm not capable, I decided to just live on with it than throwing my life away. I never knew the opponent was also having such thought. I let down my guide thinking the opposition would see me as an unworthy opponent. It was when they have penetrated into my men that I realized how foolish I have been. The opposition knew I am an unworthy opponent but he wants to remove me to prevent future trouble. I was so short-sighted that I didn't think about that, even though I was not a match for him, I can still protect myself and the people around me from harm if I haven't let down my guide. Now I have to pay for my foolishness. My fear isn't death, my fear is affecting people around me because of my mistakes. Right now I don't even know those who are with me and those who are not. I'm not cruel enough to eradicate everyone just because I'm not certain about their loyalty."

"With what you have said, it seemed you are not aware of those who are loyal to you and those who had betrayed you that's why you don't have a plan right? Even I am scared because these looked like a one-sided battle if anyone or almost all your men have crossed side."

"Its really a one sided battle but I will make sure that I drag all of those who had crossed side along. It's sure that the battle will take place here, so I have been staying at home this days to prolong things and to avoid being attacked by surprise. I have also made plans for Juliet and you to move out of the state and continue to live somewhere else. I only have Jungle with me, Smallie would have to go back to his place, I only hired him to spy on things here but it seemed I really underestimate the opponent. We were unable to get good information. I already told him to leave before the battle take place, so he should be leaving this coming days."

"Well, if there's anything I can do to help, I will surely do it once it's within my capacity."

"You really don't have to do much, just help me take good care of Juliet and protect her from everything that might want to threaten her life. I would be happy as long as she's alive and happy. I'm very sure you can do that, even as at present, you are able to give her joy. I'm assured that you are more than capable."

"Alright sir, I will surely fulfill your wish as long as I'm on earth, you don't have to flatter me this much, she's my sworn sister anyway."

"And another thing, I don't know if you will be able to achieve this for her, if you can do it, she will be very happy. She wants to see where are parents were buried. When her parents were killed, the killers took their corpses away. The man behind it wants to use it to lure her to marry his son. We are unaware of where they were buried. Although she never asked me to help her look for it, I know she really wants to but she didn't bother me because of the situation I'm in."

"Don't worry brother, I will surely help her with everything I have. Even if the death of the head of state will make her happy, I will complete it without thinking twice."

"That's good. Even though we have talked for long, I keep having the feeling that you have not mentioned the main reason you wanted to see to me."

Peter really finds this man wonderful, it's true that all what he had said was just for familiarity, the reason he wanted to talk to the man was because of Juliet. But he finds it difficult and weird to express his intentions.
