Arsony

Arden looked at him with a more confused face and his gap widen once again. He then realized what is happening, "I understand, just call me Arden and no more of a high ranking title like a lord or something. Also, I'm not seeing you as a pet, of course, I will give you a good life while you serve me!"

He then looked around and saw the blacksmiths returning to their quarter and continue working on their creation. Some of the Karen's slowly get up and while stumbling multiple times, they approached Karen.

They raised their hands, and with an insane speed, they dropped their hands down to the Karen. Arden was about to shout and stop them but he saw their hands slowly surround Karen's.

After all of that beating they got from all kinds of people in the building, they finally left with wounds and marks all over their body. Leaving Arden and the guard standing baffled.

It was not long when Arden suddenly remembered about what he was going to do, become a blacksmith. He slowly approached the receptionist behind the reception table and the girl was using her fake smile on her face and waiting for an instruction from Arden.

He was about to say something but his words were interrupted by his own guard that opened his mouth faster than him, "Hey you! You are no longer working here, take your last salary from the treasurer!"

The receptionist lowers her heads before leaving the reception area and to a room Arden assumed is the treasury. At the same time, as she left, another dark-skinned girl with purple hair came to the reception.

She was looking around and judging by her expression, Arden knew what she was looking for. He asked the girl, "Hey, are you looking for the receptionist?"

The girl looks at Arden before giving him a smile and answers his question, "Yes, I was about to apply for the receptionist job, thanks for asking"

The guard looked at her for a few seconds before whispering to Arden's ear while covering what he was saying with his hand, "Sir, this girl seems polite, should we employ her as a receptionist?"

Arden looked at him surprised and responded to him while whispering to the guard? , "You can do that? If yes, let's employ her!"

The guard then turns his attention to the girl and said to her, "Hey! You are officially the receptionist of this place now! Here is the handbook, memorize every single detail of it!"

The guard tossed a handbook that magically appears from his pocket and to the girl. She smiled while her expression shows that she was confused. With her mind full of doubt, she asked to confirm it, "Are you sure? I don't need to do any test or something? Are you even in the right position to do that?"

Arden smirked and answered, not letting the guards to answer her question first, "Yes, we are in the right position, this is our badge, see the one on the last page of the book"

Arden showed her his badge to let her know he was not joking about it. Even though he did this, she still doubted him. She did what she was told though and began flipping the pages of the handbook.

Once she saw the badge written on there was the same with the one on the book. She gasped and covered her mouth with her hands, "Thank you, sir! Thank you for employing me, I will work as hard as I could"

Arden smiled and waved his hand to let her know that it was not a big deal. That's when his guard whisper to him, "It seems that this place only has one receptionist, I need to tell her the instruction for letting someone do a test, you can go explore for a while, sir!"

Arden smiled before complying to his guard's words and went to his room at the local pub because he was so tired after what happened. She slept like a baby once he got there.

The next day, he was woken up by the sound of knocking from someone outside his door. He yawned before getting up from his bed and, while stumbling, went to open the door.

Once he opened his door, and he looks at the person knocking on his door. Arden realized it was the pub owner, Bam himself.

While still half asleep, he asked Bam what he could help with and Bam just answered with, "Can you please come with me to talk? I have some favour to ask"

Arden just said "okay" and both of them went to the first floor and sat down at the table. Bam ordered a drink for both of them before saying, "Uhh, Arden, I have some favour to ask"

He looked around before yawning once again and asked bluntly, "Yes? What can I help you with?"

Bam's mood deteriorated after Arden said this, "There is someone came knocking on the door of this building at late night. Once I opened it, I saw the group of gang members came rushing into this place…"

He stopped after he said that, resulting in Arden becoming more curious about what really happened, "What happened next? Do they threaten you? They want money?"

Bam shakes his head to left and right lightly, "No, it's actually both. They said they were from the new inn in this city and told us that the nobility that controlled them was very powerful and wanted money as a tribute. If not, we will be destroyed by all kinds of means"

Arden was calm this whole time because he already knew who was behind them. Even though he knew about it, he still thinks to himself, trying to find a good solution to solve it.

'What should I do? I can't really do anything on the turf that is not mine. The only solutions are to do something out of the box' He rubbed his chin and looked around trying to avoid eye contact that causes nervousness.

That's when Arden realizes the spider web everywhere on the wall and the wood supporting the ceiling has a little bit of crack. With his brilliant mind, he told Bam, "Don't give them anything, I want to see what can they really do when we don't do anything"

Bam looks at him before gritting his teeth and yell at him, "All of the lives of people here is threatened! Can't you help with something? You know the chef, waiter and waitress all lived here like a family"

Arden was taken aback by the person he knew barking himself. With a little bit emotion of worrying about them, he proceeds to tell them, "Gather all the things, we will move toward the inn across the street and observe what they were going to do to this place, I'll pay"

Surprisingly, Bam complied on his suggestion and proceed to gather all the important and carriable things. They waited until the nights came and proceed to move to the inn across in the cover of darkness.

Fortunately, the inn accepts guest in all times of the day and accepted them as well. While all things are done, Arden looked out of the window from the room at the inn and observe the situation.

He asked Bam that is in the same room as his, "How about the utensils and the drinks stored in the place?"

Bam answered, "The utensils are brought with us and the drinks are depleted, we haven't bought any for a while"

Right after this short conversation of theirs, a group of people began gathering in front of the pub and knocked on the door. After a while of them knocking on the door and getting no response.

One of the people from the group gave some kind of signal and his men began destroying the window. After this, they poured some kind of liquid to the building from the inside.

Arden was asking to himself, "What is that liquid? What are they trying to do?"

He soon found his answer when one of the people began making a fire from dry woods and throw it into the place covered in Alcohol.

Soon, the place was burned to ashes as Arden and Bam just look from their room. After seeing this, Bam pushed his eyes from the window and dropped to the floor, lower his head and started crying.

'This is the first time I see this big and muscular old man drop a single tear, that building must've been really important to him' Arden thought to himself as the group of men disappear to nowhere and the city guards with buckets of water began coming to the place.

They began putting out the flame as best as they could but it was already too late. Nothing could be done now, even though the building survived, it won't be the same as before.

What's more painful is, the crew that has been working on that building couldn't resist and just watch as their home is gone, eaten by the raging fire
