The Wasp was sluggishly flying around it lost another 2 legs only one remained of its original six. It hovered around uncertainly, it would force its body into the other insects to beat them away. it could hardly hold onto any insect long enough to do any harm. Zi Xiang watched the wasp struggle to drive away the insects and the violent retaliation from each victim. A slow moth was caught weak and defenseless it was mercilessly ripped apart by the wasp, putting what little resistance could the moth struggled helplessly beating its wings as hard as it could the wasp grasped its wings and began to pull. Pulling it up and down, side to side it probed the best method to remove the wing. The sinew connecting the wing to its body stretched and strained until the wing just came off.
The Wasp let the moth's wing drop out of its mouth before continuing with its next wing the moth just tried to squirm away but it was defenseless and could only weakly struggle before its next wing was torn off it fell down landing right next to Zi Xiang. It was still alive its legs still moved around like it was trying to walk on air, they flailed around for a while before the moth stopped giving up. Looking back up towards the wasp it was still trying to stave off the other insects. Flying around exhausting itself and attacking the other insects, in the end, it was only a cruel and malicious form of self harm. Only more insects came as more fell, the wasp was truly pitiful Zi Xiang watched as it slowly mutilated itself its wings were damaged and torn up from the death throes of all the insects it slaughtered.
After nearly fifteen minutes the wasp was too weak to continue its body torn apart and utterly exhausted. With the last of its energy, it landed on top of the lamp and laid there dying as the other insects swarmed around it bumping into it chasing the light. The wasp stopped moving a miserable yet self satisfying end.
Looking back down at the motionless moth Zi Xiang reached over and poked it lightly, suddenly the moth started flailing around its frail limbs struggling against thin air. Zi Xiang watched it waiting for it to stop it didn't take more than a few moments for the moth to stop giving up.
Looking back around the empty parking lot Zi Xiang felt like the loneliest person in the world all alone struggling against the darkness he wasn't too different from the insects. A monotone wind blew across the parking lot a dull indifference to Zi Xiang's misery.
Looking up at the dark skies and appreciating the moon Zi Xiang felt dejected looking at his ticket it was ruined and no bus had taken him. Then a sudden creaking noise came and a sound of lightly rattling metal approached off in the distance a vague light snaked its way across the empty streets. Two dark greasy chains emerged from the pitch black night a few moments later a bus parked by the curb it was different from the bright yellow school buses from before instead, it was a city bus. Specifically a trolly bus it was probably originally colored in blue and white but the paint had already chipped off and most of the bus was covered in rust; its headlights were dim and yellowed; the engine breathed hoarsely as if on its last breath; and the poles on top of the bus connected to a pair of greasy dark chains leading too far into the darkness to make out the ends. The original box shape was bent and dented obviously old and mistreated.
Zi Xiang stood up from under the lamp he placed his foot to his side rubbing the sole of his shoe into the concrete he walked over to the bus. Its old door creaked open letting Zi Xiang on stepping over the used stairs Zi Xiang stood before the driver handing him his ticket, the bus driver looked at it then gazed at Zi Xiang before taking the ticket into his hand the ink seeped out of the ticket leaving it blank before reforming into number fifteen from the before fourteen that marked the ticket. Placing it into a machine he watched as the ticket was accepted within. Zi Xiang stepped back into the bus to find a seat, most of the interior was ruined broken windows, torn seats, and the inside of the bus was just as rusted as the outside a light reddish brown blight grew over the metal. Finding an acceptable seat Zi Xiang sat down, his seat wasn't completely ruined and the window was fine.
The bus door closed and the engine started to softly moan as the bus started to drive, a metallic clanking came from the roof as the bus moved forward. It was difficult to tell if it was the engine was moving the bus forward or if the chains were pulling it further and further into the darkness. Driving out of the parking lot Zi Xiang watched out of the window as the lamp post drifted farther and farther out into the sea of darkness a lighthouse in the melancholic waves, who knew what sort of thoughts were out there drifting along before they would attach to some unwitting victim. Feasting upon their innards the thoughts created from his mind. They would disguise themselves and sink into their consciousness before reproducing and dissipating dissolving back into the sea.
The bus sailed through the darkened streets cutting through the inky black tide.
As a demon stalked the fields.
