Dawning Fog

As a breeze blew through the fields the coyote turned its body around and sprinted away from Zi Xiang, knowing that chasing would be pointless Zi Xiang watched it sprint through the fields its body gliding through the grass. Zi Xiang watched the creature sprint out of view, after he was completely unable to see or hear it anymore he turned his back to the approaching sunrise and walked towards the expansive horizon.

An odd sense of loneliness overcame Zi Xiang after the coyote left, turning around to look behind him there was nothing but grass and the lightening sky, the sun had let to crawl out from the blanketing horizon. Zi Xiang wanted to watch the sunrise it reminded him of times when he would stay up all night and when the sky started to brighten he would open the window and watch the sunrise. The fresh morning wind would blow through his window bringing fresh air into his stagnant room. Watching the empty streets and the silence from his home the cool breeze on his face he would feel detachment from the very world itself.

Standing alone in an empty room just the glow of his computer screen and the emerging dawn on the horizon.

But this wasn't home it was probably the furthest thing from it. Zi Xiang was truly alone watching the sunrise maybe only the coyote was lingering around watching it with him. The morning warmed up the atmosphere the winds agitated by the permeating warmth and the cold that settled in the night it began to blow across the field first as a light breeze than it started to grow violently blowing around the grass. Tossing it around, bending it to the ground. Zi Xiang felt his clothes being pushed down to his body and a few pieces of grass dislodged themselves carried by the forceful wind. The winds grew more and more until the point where Zi Xiang felt pressure every time the wind blew. The wind howled and the grass whistled in the wind.

In the distance, a large cloud was visible slowly smothering the horizon a fog began to crawl through the fields. Zi Xiang watched it move across the horizon in real time the wind carrying it through the fields. It approached Zi Xiang a strangeness seemed to infest the fog.

"Where did the fog come from, there wasn't any rain or moisture and it shouldn't have come so suddenly." Zi Xiang was dismayed by the appearance of the fog it shouldn't have been anywhere near the field and it didn't seem to form from rain or moisture. It was just blown into the field by the wind. The fog was very dense anything it covered Zi Xiang could no longer make out, in the fog it should be difficult to see more than fifty meters around oneself. It was a mystery how it appeared and its very nature seemed weird.

After blowing across a large portion of the field it finally reached Zi Xiang, as it blew over him, Zi Xiang was uncomfortable the air was damp and cold, feeling it blow over him it was like he was getting hit by the dense fog. As Zi Xiang had already guessed he could hardly see over fifty meters though it wasn't like he was missing out on much it was just grasslands anyway.

Zi Xiang wasn't able to see the sky and darkness dawned on the land again but he couldn't do much about it. Zi Xiang continued to walk westward, Zi Xiang only knew west from any other direction from the trail he walked before though it was getting harder to see if he was walking in the right direction.

Trailing through the fog irritated Zi Xiang's wounds, his arm was starting to molt in the fog, and his skin was irritated and slightly itchy from the sudden extreme humidity. Zi Xiang's jacket sleeve which was tightly tied around his arm was stuck to his skin clotting together with his arm it was stiffly attached but the moisture disturbed the flesh and the clot was starting to peel. Feeling deep discomfort from his arm he felt it with his other hand everything felt sticky from the moisture in the air and Zi Xiang's clothes started to saturate with moisture starting to feel sticky on his skin.

Walking through the fog it was as if it had a weight to it breathing was getting more difficult and each step was starting to feel heavy. Zi Xiang's exhaustion deepened feeling difficulty in concentrating his body still carried on walking, feeling slightly dizzy Zi Xiang started to slowly trail off his original path.
