Burying The Hatchet

After killing and executing all the goblins in the tribe, the once iron-like sheen that my armor gave off was dulled and smeared with blood, while my sword was completely covered with blood. From the blade down to its hilt. It was then that I thought of something extremely worrying to me.

"System, can my longsword and armor break?"

[ALL THINGS, DIVINE OR NOT, WILL EVENTUALLY BREAK. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.]

The system coldly answered. Over the few months that I've adventured, I realized that I had an extreme obsession of keeping my sword out with me. The system provided me with the action of storing or equipping my armor and longsword with but a mere thought. I would do so with my armor when I didn't need it, but my longsword was a different case. When I first stored the longsword, I was fine for the first few seconds. However, after a minute or so passed, I started to shudder and began to panick. Then, after being awfully confused by what was wrong with me, I brought out my longsword from the system once more, and instantly calmed down. It was then that I came to know of my obsession of keeping the longsword with me. Be it a trauma from the first time a goblin attacked me or something else, I had no idea. All I knew was that without the longsword at my side, I would feel lost and begin to panic. After knowing that my longsword could potentially break I bgan to have a panic attack, but decided to forcefully calm myself and ask the System another question.

"System, is there any wato to fix or maintain the condition of my equipment?"

I asked fearfully, for if I wasn't able to have the peace of mind that I could do so, I might have gone crazy.

[HOST WILL BE ABLE TO FIX AND MAINTAIN HIS EQUIPMENT AT TOP CONDITION BY SPENDING STEEL TO DO SO.]

"THEN DO SO RIGHT NOW!!!"

I shouted agitated to the voice in my mind. If someone was to be there and saw me, they would probably think that I would be crazy for suddenly screaming to nothing.

[UNDERSTOOD. DEDUCTING 10 STEEL FROM THE HOST.]

As if time seemingly reversed, my armor and longsword started to repair itself from the damages it accumulated froom the past few months of my adventuring. It even got rid of all the blood on it as my equipment once more regained its iron-like sheen. I then give a sigh of relief and thanked the system fervently.

"Thank you very much, System!"

The System didn't respond as it just stayed silent. After calming myself down, I then searched the area for any loot or Valis that might be lying around. What I came to find, however, was a cave filled with women. Pregnant women. As I've read my fair share of fantasy novels in my previous life, I knew that these women were probably raped by the goblins and were forced to bear their children. While I was thinking and comprehending the situation, I sighed and decided to disable my [Phantom] skill. When my presence was no longer hidden, the women all started to stare at me and shouted.

"Pl-Please, end my suffering..."

"KILL-KILL ME! PL-PLEASE!!!"

"I don't want to live anymore...."

The women all had different ways of reacting to my presence. Some cried, while some shouted. Some even didn't react at all, for they were too broken mentally to do so. However, one thing that I could all see was that they wanted to die. I gave a short sigh as I swiftly beheaded all of them without using my [Execute] skill, for I already had some idea of how it worked and how it strengthened me, possibly by devouring the very soul of the living beings that I choose to execute. Surprisingly, although it was the first time that I've killed other human beings, I barely felt anything as I only felt sad for their misfortune. I then sighed once more and said in a soft and low voice.

"May you find happiness and no longer suffer in the afterlife..."

I chose to stay for a few more minutes in silence then left. I was finally able to find the Goblin Tribe's treasury which contained a lot of stuff, but the only thing I brought with me was the money present there in a pouch which contain about 2,000 Valis. After the roller coaster of emotions from when I first found the Goblin tribe, to when I killed all of the goblins of the tribe, then finally the killing of all those sad and broken women, I was finally able to bury most of the traumatic feelings that I felt from when I almost got killed by a goblin. As the sun started to rise from the horizon, I admired its beauty as I spoke to excitedly to myself.

"This is only the beginning, yet I've already experienced and felt so much more than that of the feelings of the entirety of my previous life... I look forward to experiencing so much more."

After admiring the view of the rising sun for a few more minutes, I activated my [Phantom] ability as I swiftly disappeared from the area of the now exterminated goblin tribe, in search of even more prey to slaughter and execute..

______________________________________________

It was now around 5 months later from the time that I eliminated the goblin tribe. During that time period, I was able to eliminate 4 more goblin tribes along with 3 kobold tribes and was able to gather quite a bit of money from them all which amounted to around 50,000 Valis.

"System, display UI."

I said while munching on the roasted leg of a boar I hunted a while ago.

If my stats were to be looked at by any other adventurer, they would have probably be in a state of shock and would be very envious of my progress, I still felt like it was too slow compared to people like Bell Cranel and Ais Wallenstein whom leveled up and became stronger on a small amount of time. Although I resolved myself to max out my stats before leveling up, I started to become restless as the goblins and kobolds barely gave me any any stats when I executed them anymore. I sighed and, after a while of thinking, finally came to a solution.

"Seems like I really need to get to Orario now, huh?"
