WISHES

Kaye stood there like a bucket of cold water was splashed at her. She didn't know what to say for a sec. She stared at the man before a smile came to form on her lips.

"Thanks for letting me know. It's just that...I don't allow strangers to come inside my house. Can you call your boss so I can confirm this with him?" she gave him an awkward smile but the man understood that it was for safety precaution on her side.

"Sure Miss Kaye. Please wait a moment." he pulled out his phone from his pocket and called Ivan right in front of her. "Hello sir Ivan? Ahh yes sir. She's in front of me." the man gave her a side eye before handing to her the phone, "he wanted to talk to you."

Kaye took his phone and answered the man coldly to keep her pretense. "It's me, Kaye." she told him without any greetings or hint of friendliness.

"Kaye, can you let him in? I'm just asking him to grab my things -"

"Sure. No worries." then she hang up on the phone before giving it back to the man. "Come inside, his room is this way." she guided the man towards Ivan's room. She didn't let Ivan finish his words knowing well that he was leaving her.

"Take everything with you. Only the cabinets, drawers, blankets, pillows and mattress are mine. Everything aside is his." after saying that she left the man to his own accord and went back to her room. The man just shook his head seeing the change of attitude, but it didn't matter to him. He just needed to get his job done accordingly.

Kaye sat on the floor leaning against her door. She was hugging her knees as she cried her heart out silently. "How could life be unfair?" she asked herself while sobbing. She just sat there while contemplating what to do. It was the second time she got her heart broken. It took her several years to forget Harley and now she had to take another several years to forget Ivan.

Ivan was stunned from being cut off coldly. It wasn't the first time that Kaye treated her coldly, but this time he sensed her pain and anger. He wanted to tell that he will be back soon, but he didn't get to say those words. He tried calling her personally but she wasn't answering him.

"How ironic! When you were calling me, I was still hesitating to tell you what's in my mind. Now that I'm ready, your phone has been off for the longest time now." He uttered under his breath while heaving a stressful sigh. "How am I going to start this story, Kaye." he rubbed his temple to stop the headache.

Kaye just sat on the floor listening to the man's movements on the other room. An hour had passed and the man brought out two large suitcases full of Ivan's belongings. He knocked on Kaye's room to bid her goodbye.

"Miss Kaye, thank you for letting me in. I'm living now."

"Alright. Thanks for taking care of everything." Kaye yelled from the inside of her room. She didn't go out, afraid she would break down facing the reality of Ivan leaving her. The man didn't answer her back, but she heard his footsteps gradually fading before the sound of the door being locked.

"So this is how everything ends." she smiled to herself before standing up and crawled on her bed. She was lying in fatal position as she thought of Ivan's days with her.

"Alright, I'm the one taking advantage of you." he said before holding her hands in public. "Here." he placed his card on her hands like a husband giving the salary card to his wife. "Tell me where you're going next time so I wouldn't worry." he said after giving his contact details, that was after their first argument.

These few moments were the happiest to her but was the cruelest among them. If she knew it would hurt her this bad, she would've stopped herself a long time ago.

"Looks like, things needed to change it's path. In the end, what we had were just parts of a sweet memory." Kaye said with a sad smile. She had decided to stop everything before it's too late.

She had been thinking that Ivan made his move to forget her and she felt that she should do the same. "My father would be really happy to hear my news." she uttered before taking her laptop and writing a letter, her resignation letter.

"I'm glad that I was able to meet a man like him. I hope you'll be happy wherever you are. I hope the girl you like will also cherish you forever." she was saying these words to the fingerprint on the back of the Spring painting. The first time they went out which Ivan considered a date.

"Hmp! You just got my hopes up but you don't really mean it that way. So mean!" she said before taking the picture down completely, placing it in a corner. "I wish you all the best."
