HEALED

Kaye had been busy working as an assistant manager to one of their stores. She's currently typing some reports that need to be submitted for the next monthly meeting.

"Boss, I bought your lunch already. Why don't you eat first?" said one of the bodyguards that her father arranged for her.

"Give me another 10 minutes. I'm almost done with this." Kaye said without lifting her head.

"Alright. I'll remind you after 10 minutes." the bodyguard said before standing at the door. Her father hired them for her safety and to have them remind her of few things like her schedules and her daily meals. It's because she tend to forget various things while working.

After 10 minutes, no more no less, the guard approached her again. He placed the food on the table and waited for Kaye to stopped typing.

Kaye looked at him with a raised eyebrow but her bodyguard just looked back at her before shifting his eyes to the food and back at her.

"Okay. Okay. I will eat now. You should eat as well. Just come back after 30 minutes." She closed her laptop before getting the food and start digging in.

The guard just left after giving her a responding bow.

On the other side of the Earth, Alex and Ivan weren't asleep yet. They were having a midnight snack while Alex was checking the reports from the company and Ivan was sending his sister a voiced message.

She was supposed to go back home a month ago, but Ivan stopped her knowing she would throw a fit if she found out that he's gone somewhere.

"Come home after a month. I have a huge surprise for you. If you come back earlier, you wouldn't see that surprise." His sister didn't know that he's in States where she could just visit him and make things easier for both of them.

"By the way, will we go back after taking off the blinds tomorrow or we'll wait for you to heal." Alex asked him from where he sat which was at the terrace of the mansion. It was a house owned by Ivan after accumulating his funds from his small company. In terms of office building and location it was rather small, but in terms of revenue and profits, it was a big company that his parents didn't know of.

"We'll leave after two weeks. I want to make sure everything's fine before going back." Ivan answered before getting on his feet and walked back to his room.

"Got it. You should take a rest. Tomorrow will be a long day for you." Alex replied before going back to his work.

The next morning, Ivan woke up early and started preparing for his day. Alex slept late last night so he let him catch his sleep while he was busy looking for food to eat.

After getting used to Kaye's cooking, Ivan has become picky when it comes to food. He's been eating cereals these past weeks since he felt that the food that Alex bought were tasteless.

Alex woke up around nine in the morning with the help of his alarm clock. Walking outside his room like a zombie, he went to the kitchen and got himself a cold water to wake himself completely.

He scanned his surroundings and saw Ivan sitting at the living room with a picture frame on his hands. This sight is no longer new to him. Ivan has been doing that for thousands of times already in his presence. It was a picture of his younger self with his auntie, a cute little girl and a cat.

"Are you nervous?" Alex asked him before putting the glass on the table.

"A little bit." Ivan answered him. "Get ready and make sure to bring this picture. Don't break it." Ivan said to Alex so that they can start their day.

When they arrived at the hospital, Alex led Ivan towards the optical department. The doctor who was responsible for his surgery or transplant has been waiting for him who will also be responsible for taking off the gauze.

"Are you excited?" asked the doctor while helping Ivan with the hospital gown.

"I'm fine." He answered nonchalantly before sitting on the bed.

The doctor chuckled at him before putting on the gloves and taking all the things he'll be needing.

After 10 minutes of work, the doctor raised Ivan's chin. "You can open your eyes." he said to Ivan who was still closing his eyes.

"Can I have that picture frame?" Ivan told Alex who immediately took out the picture frame and gave it to him.

Ivan opened his eyes slowly. The light was painful at first, his vision was blurry and he blinked his eyes for a few time. Gradually, he could see a rectangular thing on his hands and it was getting clearer every second that had passed.

'I miss you.' he whispered to himself as he looked at the picture with longing.

"How is it?" the doctor asked him which pull him back to the present situation.

"Thank you so much doc. I can see things now." he gave the doctor a sincere smile before looking at the picture once again.

"I'm glad that everything went smooth. Now, we'll run a few test to make sure everything will be alright."

"Deciding to undergo this surgery is the best thing you've done. I'm so happy for you." Alex smiled while giving Ivan a thumbs up.

"Thanks for helping me out." Ivan smiled to Alex before handing the picture back. "Make sure you don't break it."

Alex rolled his eyes after receiving Ivan's reminder. "Why don't we undergo for a surgery to change your attitude?" he said jokingly while shaking his head.

Ivan just heaved a sigh of relief for everything. It was a tough decision to make considering all the risk, but what can he do? He was madly in love and is willing to go through all these just to see her once again.
