Ivan spent his time during the day at his company and during the night, he would go home to his mother's place. He would only go back to the Harley's residence during the weekend.
This time, he was driving to the airport to pick up someone. It's been a long that he had seen her face. He wanted to surprise her so he came in person to pick her up.
"Where are you?" a woman's voice resonated on his Bluetooth earphone.
"I'm almost there. Give me five minutes." Ivan answered with a hint of laughter. He drove carefully with just average speed to avoid getting into accident again.
Kaye was walking towards the exit of the airport while dragging the suitcase behind her. She came from city H after conducting a random visit and inspection. She was about to enter the car that was waiting for her when she heard a lovely voice not far from her.
"Ivan! Wow! You can see now!" A woman at her 20s hugged the man happily. She was jumping with joy after seeing him.
At first, Kaye was surprised to see Ivan there but looking at his smiling face with the woman in his embrace, Kaye could only smile faintly.
"He did go for surgery to see her." Kaye commented before wearing her sunglasses and got inside the car.
Ivan felt someone looking at him. When he turned to his right, he saw Kaye standing there wearing her glasses.
"Kaye!" He called out to her but she entered the car and left. He watched the car leave until it was out of his sight.
"You know her. She has been looking at you for a while. I thought she mistook you for someone else." Kath told him with an awkward look. "Was she my future sister-in-law?"
"Should be." Ivan answered before helping her put her things on the trunk.
"Do your best cause I have this feeling she mistook me as your girlfriend." his sister said with a wide grin on his face.
"Don't jinx it." Ivan knocked on his forehead before asking her to get inside the car.
On the other hand, Kaye was sitting on the car in silence. Her eyes were red and her heart was shattering in pieces. After a few seconds, she couldn't help but breakdown and cry. She cried her heart out until she was hoarse.
'This is really unfair. Why do I have to fall in love with him while he fell for someone else?' Kaye scolded herself mentally.
When she got home, she went to her room and gave an excuse of being tired so no one could disturb her. In fact, she was just sobbing all night long until she fell asleep from exhaustion.
The next day, it was weekend. Ivan and his sister Kath planned to go to his mother's place to visit them with her sister.
"Mom, I'll visit auntie Yve with Ivan later." Kath told her mother. Last night, when she arrived home, they told her the truth of Ivan's birth but Kath didn't care about that. For her, Ivan is her one and only brother.
"Okay. Tell her to come over sometimes." Grace reminded her daughter.
Ivan and Kathleen planned to set off just before lunch since his mother reminded him to have lunch with her.
Kaye was so tired and her heart was in pieces that she didn't know where to start picking the fragments to put them back together.
She went down and got some food to eat. She sat alone on the dining table with the cereals and fruits in front of her. "Where's mom and dad?" Kaye asked the maid who was cleaning on the living room.
"Your parents left for the orphanage Miss Kaye. Since you came back from the business trip, they didn't want to tire you out. They left just an hour ago." answered the made to her inquiry.
Knowing that they went to the orphanage, Kaye was in a daze of not knowing what to do with her time.
After eating, Kaye went back to her room and took a shower. She changed her clothes to a dark jeans and a white turtleneck sweatshirt. She wore a running shoes and took her purse, wallet and phone. She grabbed her keys before going out for a drive.
She decided to give a surprise to Miss Maine so she stopped by the nearest supermarket and bought some large lobsters and other seafoods. She bought fruits as well.
She drove carefully and after a few hours, she arrived to the villa. She didn't want her to know that she came to visit so she parked her car outside. She took her own key to the house and got inside.
Kaye heard some laughters coming from the living room. She walked slowly towards the door. She was about to open the door when she saw Chadwick came out.
"K---"
"Ssshh. I'm going to surprise auntie. Don't spoil it uncle." Kaye mumbled towards him. Chadwick just laughed and left her alone.
Kaye walked inside and was about to surprise the woman when she saw the people inside. The words she wanted to utter choked her.
Kaye was stupefied. She looked at them carefully but her breathing came in labor. She was heaving and gasping for breath. "This couldn't be. This coincidence is not real. This couldn't be. I' just dreaming." Kaye was mumbling before she pinched her face. 'Ouch. Aaaww.' Kaye was cursing herself internally 'That hurts!'
She didn't know how long she stood there while looking at their faces. 'In this life I lost.' Kaye thought sadly before she turned around and left. She realized that she was still holding on to the the groceries. "Uncle Chad." Kaye called out to the man who was getting some things from the car.
"Kaye, why didn't you come inside? You're auntie currently has some visitors but they're fine. She would be happy to see you." Chadwick asked upon seeing her standing at the garage.
"I remembered I have some important things to do regarding the company. I have to go now. Please take these and send my regards to auntie Yve. I'll just visit again once I finish my work." She placed the bags on the monoblock chair and left in a hurry.
Chadwick wanted to tell her something but she was already out of sight. "She must have realized something. I wonder if my guess is right, if it is, it's truly shocking."
Kaye's heart was shattered once again by the same person. This time, she didn't bother picking up the pieces.
