Ivan didn't move instead, he pulled her closer to him. "Can we stay like this while I explain everything. Haven't had any good sleep since I came back." He wrapped her with a blanket and put his arms around her.
Kaye's face was indescribable. She was pissed and nervous at the same time. "Don't even think you'd get away with this just because we're childhood friends!" Kaye coldly pushed him off and got out of his bed. She stood to look for her things.
When she spun around, she caught an image of herself reflecting on the mirror. She was only wearing a white shirt that barely covers her bottoms. Kaye went back directly to the bed and wrapped the blanket around her.
"I didn't do anything outrageous to you." Ivan said seriously. He didn't want her to think he's a bastard after last night. He needed her to trust him.
"Who changed my clothes?" Kaye asked. Panic was showing on her face and she was getting paler as the time passed.
"I did. I don't want anyone to see your body." Ivan spoke quickly before she could scold him.
"Ivan, this is not a good thing. Friends do have sleepover, but you like someone right? How would she feel if she knew you slept with me?" In fact, Kaye was happy that the dream she had actually happened. However, knowing what the girl would feel after knowing this, she felt bad. She didn't want to become a third-party.
Ivan looked at her and he could see that she was thinking badly of herself. He didn't know what else to do aside from telling her the truth.
"Would you be angry if I tell you who I like?" Ivan asked. His intense gaze was directed at her. Kaye raised her bowed head and stared at him with a wide eyes.
She smiled at him sweetly and stood up, bringing the blanket with her. "Ivan, whoever is it that you like has nothing to do with me. I just don't want that woman to think badly of you." Kaye spoke while looking around to find her things. Aside from her bag and sandals, she couldn't find her clothes.
"Everything has something to do with you." Ivan said that made Kaye stopped on her tracks from getting inside the bathroom.
"Excuse me?" Kaye raise her brows but her eyes were as cold as the snow during winter.
"You came into my life. Everything has something to do with you." Kaye was speechless upon hearing this. She clenched her fist that was holding the blanket tightly.
"Care to elaborate this? I don't have all morning just for you. I want to go home! This is ridiculous Ivan! I didn't even want to get involve in your love affair. I don't care who the hell you like! Just give me back my clothes!" Kaye yelled at him. She didn't care anymore. She's afraid to hear his blames. She's afraid she's become the person she didn't want.
"Calm down Kaye. I didn't mean it in a bad way. Can we talk this calmly. I need you to hear me out." Ivan was pleading. He had enough. Who cares about pride! He didn't want to lose her again.
"Ivan, do you want to ruin me?" Kaye asked. Her eyes were full of tears. This scared Ivan out of his wits. He hated seeing her tears. Now, he's the cause of it.
Ivan got off the bed and walked towards her. He wiped the tears off her face and kissed her forehead. Kaye was stunned at this but she didn't dare move or even talk.
What happened today ended everything for her. She could no longer see him directly in the eyes. He's known so much of her and even saw her scars. Kaye didn't want to see him anymore. Being friends wouldn't do either.
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for all these things to happen. You were drunk and I intend to take care of you. I didn't do anything." Ivan kissed the top of her head while rubbing her back to calm her.
"I know. I know you didn't do anything. But Ivan, I think it's best that we don't see each other in the future. What we have all happened in the past. You have a girl you like. I...I...I have...I have a man I like." Kaye was stuttering when she spoke the last sentence. He was the man that she likes after all.
Ivan put down his hands on his side. He clenched his fists then unclench them again. Doing this again and again to calm himself.
"You still like that man? Didn't you say he likes someone else?" Ivan asked her but his voice didn't carry the same warmness like earlier.
"I like him. I will like him from a far. I don't intend to let him know how I feel. I will still like him." Kaye answered firmly. Since they belong to the same circle and would most likely bump into each other because they have same circle of friends, Kaye intended to love him secretly. That wasn't bad at all.
"I see." Ivan slumped on his bed. He covered his face with his hands. He collected himself before facing her again. "If that is the case, I would still stay with you. Whenever you need help, just let me know."
Kaye didn't know why but Ivan looked so devastated. She didn't really despise him. She was just a little upset about them.
"Didn't you say you wanted to tell me the girl you like?" Kaye asked to change the topic. Ivan stiffened but he just smiled at her.
"I will let you know soon." Ivan made up a lie. He had decided not to let her know. He didn't want to burden her with his one-sided love.
He would protect her from the shadows and would keep her safe. Just as he promised her when he was young.
