Kaye had passed out for almost two hours. Within this two hours, Ivan had called her parents to let them know of her whereabouts. They were worried at first, but knowing that Ivan would take care of her they felt at ease.
"Are you alright darling?" Grace asked after she placed the food she had prepared for their lovely guest.
"I'm...I'm fine. Thank you." Kaye answered softly. She didn't raise her head, afraid to see judgements in their eyes. Aside from that, she could see the young woman within her peripheral vision.
Ivan approached her and sat beside her after the phone call with Kaye's parents. He took her hands but Kaye pulled them back and placed them under the blanket so she could cover her trembling hands.
"Let me introduce my family." Ivan spoke in a low voice to avoid startling her. This time, Kaye raised her head slightly so she could see their faces. "These are my parents slash Auntie and Uncle. Grace and Gabriel." Ivan started.
Kaye frowned at the introduction but she didn't give her comments. "Nice to meet you. I'm sorry for barging into your home." Kaye spoke with an apologetic tone.
"It's our pleasure to see you here. Though it is sudden, we're still happy." Grace responded to her with a bright smile. Kaye smiled nervously as well.
"Next is my cousin-sister. Her name is Kathleen." Ivan continued and asked his sister to come over.
Kaye's lashes trembled and her hands were shaking underneath the blankets. She misunderstood them! She wasn't his girlfriend at all! Though she felt embarrassed, Kaye kept a smile on her lips.
"Nice to meet you. You can call me Kath." Kathleen said as she reached out her hand for a formal handshake.
Kaye looked at her while trying to calm her nerves. She reached out her hand and gave it a gentle shake. "I'm glad to see you."
"Me too. My brother told me so much about you." Kathleen mentioned excitedly before she sat down on the bed, urging her brother to scoot over.
"Kath, give her some space. Let's talk downstairs after she eats." Gabriel said giving his son a pat on his shoulder.
Kathleen pouted her lips since she couldn't stay for so long inside the room. "Come down later. I've got so much to tell you." She's planning to create opportunities for her brother since she owed them big time.
Kaye just nod her head to express her understanding but in truth, she was shock, afraid and happy. When everyone was outside, only the two of them was on the bed facing each other.
"Do you have anything to say?" Ivan asked while taking the food his mother prepared and started feeding her.
"I guess I misunderstood something." Kaye started before she took a mouthful of crab soup that Ivan gave her after blowing on it.
"Didn't know that. Tell me." Ivan responded while blowing another spoonful of soup.
"I guess she isn't the girl you like. Since the time you told me you like someone, I've been guessing her identity." Kaye admitted with a red face.
"That's reasonable." Ivan commented before feeding her. "The person I like also likes someone else. Same as you, I prefer loving the person from a far."
"We're rather unfortunate when it comes to this field." Kaye laughed at their situation before eating a slice of apple.
"Still glad that I have you." Ivan pinched her tender face which earned him a pout from Kaye.
"I'm glad to see you as well." Kaye smiled brightly at him. At this moment, she just wanted to be happy beside him.
After an hour, Kaye went out with Ivan. Ivan's family were sitting at the living room with the addition of Miss Maine and Chad.
"Kaye, it's good to see you here." Chadwick exclaimed when he saw the girl walking down the stairs with Ivan.
"Uncle Chad, he abducted me last night." Kaye complained jokingly while walking towards them.
"That's good news." Yvonne Maine Hue responded while giving her son a playful wink.
"Hmp! You're all defending him." Kaye grumbled before taking a seat beside Kathleen.
"Sister Kaye, come here. I will show you something." Kathleen pulled her closer to show her an album. "This is my brother's."
"That's nice." Kaye said before she flipped through the pages.
"By the way Kaye, will you be free next week?" Yvonne asked who looked at her with a gentle gaze.
"Saturday night is fine auntie. Is there something you need?" Kaye asked her back.
"We'll be going out. Would you like to join? It would be great if you could come." Chadwick filled her the details.
"That sounds fun. I'll free more or my schedule next Saturday." Kaye responded enthusiastically.
She didn't know that it was a trap set by the whole family. Ivan didn't know about it and both of them will be the victims of this mischief.
Grace and Yvonne smiled at each other mysteriously. They've been waiting for this day to come.
Ivan had been hurt when he was forced to leave the country, leave the girl. He was affected by her sudden disappearance. So, both his parents know how much this girl means to him. With that, they came up with a plan. They will not interfere at all. They will just be watching them.
In this very room, with the victims laughing cheerfully, a conspiracy had been formed. Ivan kept looking at Kaye who was enjoying her time flipping through the albums.
"I have a question though." Kaye thought suddenly. "What happened to my cat?"
This question silence everyone. Ivan averted his eyes. Kathleen stood up and went to her room. The adults bowed their head like they've done something wrong. Nobody spoke and the atmosphere turned gloomy.
"He died." Ivan answered. His words not only crashed Kaye's world but also his. After all, he was the one who killed it.
