KISS AND MAKE UP

Time flew quickly and Friday came. Kaye was inside her room, lying in her bed with the phone held in her hands.

"Should I go or not?" asked one side of her brain. "But I've agreed already." Defended the other half of her brain. "I will see Ivan there. Would it make things awkward?" Asked her brain. "Let's just apologize." Stated her heart. She was torn between going and not going with Ivan's family.

In the end, her love prevailed. She didn't have much time left until Ivan finds a girlfriend so she needed to make as much memories with him.

She turned on her phone after making the decision. When her phone displayed series of notifications, Kaye felt guilty even more. There more than a hundred missed calls and text messages from Ivan, few from Yvonne and there were some from Lexi and Kathleen. They were all asking her if she's doing fine.

After a moment of hesitation, Kaye dialed Ivan's phone number but there was no answer. She dialed it again, this time Ivan answered with a groggy voice.

"Are you still coming to pick me up?" Kaye asked as if nothing happened to both of them.

Ivan who received the call thought he was just dreaming. He checked the caller ID once again as well as the date and time. It registered to him that he was supposed to pick her from her house to go on a short vacation.

"I'm sorry. I was really dizzy I didn't realize you're calling me for real. I'll come and pick you up in an hour." Ivan answered as soon as realization hit him.

"Okay. See you later." Kaye responded before hanging up the call. She heaved a sigh of relief before getting her bag to stuff her things inside for their weekend getaway.

She chose some skirts and long dresses with long sleeves as well as few large shirts that would cover her neck and body. She pack a sunscreen, moisturizer, lotion, some tissues and other things for hygienic purposes.

She took a quick shower and put on some clothes which weren't too fancy or too normal. Quarter to 2:00 in the afternoon, Ivan arrived with a basket of fruits.

"Good afternoon auntie." Ivan greeted Maggie who was making some jewelries in the living room.

Maggie was shock to see him at first but she soon realize that he came to pick up her daughter. "I'm glad to see you here. Did you guys make up already?" She inquired before receiving the basket and placed it on the table.

"I don't know but she called me earlier. I'm planning to apologize to her." Ivan confessed honestly since Maggie helped him with Kaye.

"That's great. Make sure you guys talk to each other later. You know how sensitive Kaye is." Maggie responded before going back to her work.

"Do you want to eat something? You look pale." Maggie added when she noticed his exhausted face.

"It's fine auntie. I just lack some sleep." Ivan respectfully refused the offer.

A few minutes later, Kaye came down with a big backpack. She was wearing a skinny jeans and a white shirt which covered the scars on her neck and legs.

"Wait for a while." Kaye put down her bag and went to the kitchen. She took a box of milk, fruits and bread. She placed them on a paper bag and went back outside. "We'll go ahead mom. We'll be back on Sunday." She kissed her mother goodbye before taking the bag again.

"Let me carry that for you." Ivan took the bag and held her hand as they walked towards his car.

He placed the bag at the back seat. Kaye had gone inside the copilot seat with the paper bag already so he went directly to the driver's seat.

"Are we going directly to the resort or are we going to your house first?" Kaye inquired since Ivan's family will be going with them.

"We'll be heading home first. Mommy want us to go there before going to the booked place." Ivan responded calmly. His eyes was looking on the road but half of his attention was trained towards her.

Kaye rummaged through the paper bag before taking out some simple sandwich she made earlier. "Open your mouth." She instructed as she placed a sandwich in front of him.

Ivan was a little surprise with her action but he still took a bite of the sandwich offered to him.

When he finished the whole sandwich, Kaye opened the box of milk and inserted the straw. She offered it to him again. Since Ivan was driving, she fed them with foods.

"Why are you doing this?" Ivan couldn't help but ask after he finished eating all the foods she gave him.

Kaye pricked her brows with his questions. "Do you know how pale you are? You looked like ghost. How many days have you not eaten? You've lost some weight." Kaye yelled at him like a mother talking to a sickly yet stubborn child.

"Thank you." Ivan muttered which was enough for Kaye. "I was so scared you would be angry at me your whole life." Ivan stopped the car at the roadside and turned to face her.

"I was indeed mad at you. I was just asking you questions. We were having a good time but you suddenly got angry. You didn't even tell me what's wrong." Kaye complained once again. She felt so upset that Ivan got mad at her. She was even more insecure when facing him.

Ivan knew that Kaye tried her best in building her confidence but their argument few days ago made him realize how vulnerable she was and how low her self-esteem.

Ivan pulled her close in a tight embrace. "No matter what happens, let's not argue okay? What happened in the past should not be brought up in the present or in the future. I don't want you feeling insecure. What you are now is what matters to me. Your past won't stop me from getting close to you. I will always cling to you no matter what." Ivan responded in a gentle voice, kissing the top of her head to keep her calm.

"I won't ever argue with you. If I upset you and I'm not aware of it, you must talk to me okay? You must promise me that. I know I'm dumb sometimes." Kaye raised her head from his embrace. Such position made Ivan wanting to kiss her but he just kissed the tip of her nose.

"I promise sweetheart. I will tell you everything." Ivan hugged her so tight she almost ran out of breath but she didn't complain about it.

She's been looking for him. She's been waiting for him. The warmth that she longed for, finally, it found her.
