Chloe almost didn't sleep a wink thanks to seeing Daniel by her letterbox earlier that day, talk about disturbing and borderline stalkerish.
Why was he even there to begin with?
What made her more unsettled was seeing him by the letterbox after waking up the next day, just as she got out of bed and was yawning.
She stopped mid yawning the moment she spotted him.
It was then that all feelings of fatigue left her waking body only leaving complete fear creep into her once more.
Sweat formed on her brow as she stared at him feeling more disturbed than ever.
Why?
Why was he back here again?
She didn't understand and it left her wanting to storm out the house, despite wearing a worn-out white shirt and black shorts.
Uncaring that people would stare and comment about her appearance, why should that matter when there was a stalker outside her home?!
In her mind nothing mattered as the urge to go outside to not only give him a piece of her mind but to shoo him away from her home.
Her home was the only place she could at least feel normal, despite the voices in her mind which were now quiet as he stood outside.
Still she didn't understand why or how he was able to do that given that he seemed 'normal'.
Only she had a sinking suspicion that he was anything but normal.
Snapping out of her musing Chloe noticed that he was looking at her window due to where she was standing and frowned.
Biting her lip and pushing a lock of her hair from her face, Chloe stormed towards her bathroom and locked the door.
Hoping it would provide her with some security that he could not see her in there.
At least that had frosted windows to prevent peepers from looking in.
"He's probably going to use the project as an excuse" she muttered as she was in the shower.
Chloe then felt her body relax as the warm water dripped onto her tense body.
Just feeling the pitter patter of the water allowed her to feel as if her troubled thoughts were being washed away, even if it was for a brief moment.
He could wait, that or her father- if he was up, could deal with him.
On cue a smile formed on her face as she heard loud voices outside signalling her father had spotted the stalker in question.
Shaking her long hair she began to wash it after applying shampoo and ran her fingers through her locks.
Her eyes were closed while she allowed her mind to wonder, what could she do today?
She heard that her father's company was hosting an exhibit containing rare items in about a week but was the private viewing was today.
Her mother did sound interested which encouraged Chloe to think 'why not?'
Otherwise she was mostly indoors resting even though she had spent most of the time in bed during her stay at the hospital.
Sure she had her sleeping time interrupted at times but she was able to catch up with her sleep last night.
Chloe smiled as she walked out the bedroom towards the kitchen in order to have breakfast, however what greeted her was a very angry man and a slightly amused woman who she knew were her parents.
"Morning?" Chloe smiled sheepishly as she saw her father turn his head to look at her, a low grunt left his lips before turning to look at his cup of coffee that was on the table in front of him.
At the same time her mother giggled slightly while a hand covered her mouth.
"Oh don't worry about him, he's just upset that your project partner had shown up" Gwen had said with a smile.
"Be thankful I don't have a rake" he said darkly as he scowled at what happened.
"What did he do?" Chloe asked now looking confused while taking a seat at the table, she then thanked her mother who placed a plate of toast on the table.
"He was standing at the letterbox looking like a weirdo while staring at your window. Now I know that there's dedication and then there's stalkers who just don't take the hint" Blane said dryly causing Chloe who paused from sipping her orange juice.
Okay…
"Um… isn't what you've mentioned the same thing?" Chloe asked looking curious.
"Exactly! That's why I don't approve, why is he even bothering when Chloe has made it clear that she doesn't want anything to do with him?" Blane snapped causing Gwen to smile softly.
"What if he likes her?" she asked with a teasing smile, Blane as soon as he heard choked on his drink while Chloe on the other hand dropped her glass.
"No way!" Chloe raised her voice.
"I would rather be caught in another explosion than be near him!" she added crossly not caring if her father was glaring at her response.
Gwen however just chuckled and shook her head.
"Only those who play hard to get end up being the most interesting to get" Gwen said earing her a glare from her husband.
"Gwen…" he paused to take a breath.
"Now I've been patient but please, I'm at my wits end with this boy. Can we not talk about him… ever?" he said the last bit in a warning tone.
Gwen seeing his reaction waved it off.
You'll see, but fine I'll keep it quiet… wouldn't want to make you jealous" she winked at her scowling husband.
"Gwen!" he warned now looking very annoyed.
"Yes dear?" she batted her eyelashes at him playfully only to hear a distressed gag causing the pair to look at a very disgusted Chloe.
"Eww, no! Mum he's old enough to be your son, please just no" Chloe muttered which made Gwen giggle again.
"Seriously mum, I don't want to live in a broken home" she added as her mother shook her head from hearing her daughter's dramatic whining.
"No one's going to split up" Gwen assured her daughter.
"Not yet if this keeps up" Blane muttered under his breath as he took a sip to try and brush off what happened.
"Did you say something dear?" Gwen asked with a sweet smile earning her a glare from her husband which meant 'don't even go there'.
Seeing this made Gwen roll her eyes playfully as she took his hand in hers.
"Relax, I love you… even though he does look hot for someone who's pulling off a bad boy look" Gwen added causing the pair to cry out in disgust.
"That's it! I'm out!" Blane barked while Chloe stood up and eagerly left the room with him.
Watching them go made Gwen chuckle to herself at how they were so similar before looking up at the ceiling.
"I wonder what it would be like if Chloe did start dating?" she muttered with a mused smile, she paused the moment she heard Chloe ranting at her father about boys made the woman shake her head and smile even more.
"Maybe later after all" she said with a kind smile knowing that Chloe was not at the stage for any relationship.
But she did hope that one day Chloe would find someone who would love and care for her despite the bad times that would follow.
