Somethings Never Change

'Listen to me I mean it! I am sorry please forgive me Chloe!' Jenny's voice echoed in Chloe's ears before the doors slammed shut, muffling whatever things Jenny had said.

Chloe as she pushed her hands to her ears tried to ignore Jenny's incessant pleadings as she sat on her bed.

Nothing would be more sweeter if Jenny could stop screaming or making any noise to begin with.

To her surprise though Jenny had gone quiet around the evening.

Curious Chloe checked outside to see that Jenny had gone leaving Chloe sighing with relief.

"Of course she was not being sincere" Gwen muttered darkly as she handed her relieved child a mug of hot chocolate.

Nodding her thanks Chloe cradled the mug before going upstairs.

"Chloe… please talk to us" Blane said as he sighed, walking towards his distressed daughter he placed a hand on her shoulder causing her to look up at him with lost eyes.

Seeing this left Blane feeling defeated.

He failed her.

He had allowed this to happen to her and she took in silence, knowing that no one would hear her.

Just knowing this filled him with so much pain that became indescribable.

How could he make it up to her?

Was… was there anything he could do to right the wrongs he also took part in?

"I know that we haven't been good parents" Blane started as he knelt down at her, he placed both hands on her shoulders.

"We should have believed and supported you through those tough times, for that I am sorry-"

"We both are Chloe" Gwen said as she placed her hands on his shoulders, she stood behind him with a sincere guilty look that had Chloe biting her lip slightly at how they were willing to go in apologising.

"We never wanted you to feel as if you could never come to us when you needed it. We allowed outsiders to dictate how we should treat you and it's inexcusable" Gwen added as tears formed in her eyes.

"Just please don't hate us, let us find ways to make it up to you" Gwen pleaded as Chloe stared at them with tears stinging her eyes.

"Ma…"

"Don't say a thing" Gwen said while shaking her head as Blane smiled warmly at their little girl, their precious treasure.

"We want you to know that we love you and will never want you to ever feel as if you have to deal with things alone. I know that there are things we maybe powerless to do, but whatever we can do we will do" Blane vowed causing Chloe's shoulders to shake violently.

Seeing that the mug was about to fall Blane grabbed it only to hiss thanks to touching the hot item.

Seeing this Gwen scolded him while Chloe panicked at knowing that he was in real pain.

"It's alright" Blane grinned slightly with one eye closed.

"As long as you're safe and well that's all that matters" Blane added earning him a frown from his wife who plucked the mug away from Blane via the handle, she pecked his cheek and shook her head at him causing her wavy tresses to move side to side.

Seeing Chloe's look Blane chuckled and used his uninjured hand to pat her on the head before stroking her right side just above her ear.

"Don't be sorry, now how about a movie since we haven't had a movie night in a while?" Blane asked causing the females to laugh at his attempt into cheering Chloe up.

"S-Sure dad" Chloe wiped her cheeks with the back of her right wrist causing Blane to playfully scowl at her.

"Use a tissue or a towel to wipe your face. What are you an animal?" Blane joked as he stood up, a series of laughs entered his ears as he grinned.

Walking towards the low table in the living room he plucked a few soft tissues and handed them to Chloe who walked slowly towards him.

Only before she could take them Blane bent down slightly and dabbed her eyes lightly.

"Don't let others make you cry again, you are never alone" Blane added as Chloe slowly nodded her head.

"So what movie do you want to watch?" Blane asked as Gwen gave him a light glare, despite glaring joy filled the mother in knowing that her family was slowly coming back together.

Even though it took a disturbed bully to do it.

As they sat at the sofa in the living room Blane had Chloe sitting between him and Gwen so they could cuddle their daughter.

Not that Chloe minded as warmth filled her heart and mind, she truly missed moments like these.

"So when will you tell us what's on your mind?" Blane asked earning a scoff from Gwen.

"She's finally opening up and you're pulling the rug from underneath her! Honestly" Gwen scolded as Blane flashed her a grin.

Chloe meanwhile pursed the left side of her lip as she looked down slightly.

"I… I can't tell you" Chloe said knowing that despite all this, she worried for their safety. What if something went wrong?

She didn't want to see looks of disappointment and fear in knowing that their daughter might be crazy in their eyes.

Sure her teacher Miss Willows was kind and willing to believe her didn't mean everyone would share the same sentiments, for all Chloe knew it was might have just been a fluke.

Blane and Gwen seeing this sighed before cuddling the surprised girl.

"When you're ready" Blane said softly.

"Don't worry we're always here for you" Gwen added with a kind smile that left Chloe more speechless.

"I…" Chloe was left tongue tied until her father laughed.

"Enough of this mushy stuff, let's watch a funny movie" Blane said as he cut Chloe off, Gwen's groaned at her husband as he used the remote.

'This man!' Gwen almost scolded in anger, why did she marry this man again?

"Really?!" Gwen bickered with Blane who replied leaving Chloe to watch her parents banter, as confused and startled as she was a smile formed on her face at how things never changed.

Not that she wanted it to change to begin with.

"Sorry for making you all worry" Chloe said with a meek voice silencing her parents enough to look at her.

Seeing her being shy the parents smiled warmly.

"Don't worry about a thing, we kind of made you behave like this so we should be saying sorry as well" Blane replied as Gwen nodded sharply.

"To make it up to you since you can't go to college until next week, how about coming with me to see the exhibit my work is dealing with" Blane opted to Chloe's surprise.

"You… you would let me come with you?" Chloe exclaimed before realising that she was being loud, as a result her face went red from embarrassment earning her laughter from her parents.

"Some things never change" Gwen smiled as she watched her daughter behave like a hedgehog once more thanks to her shy nature.

"Of course, why wouldn't I? Besides what can go wrong?" Blane asked with a wide grin and hugged his family.

Chloe as she smiled almost winced knowing that there could be something or to put it mildly a LOT of things that could leave things going wrong- voices.
