"It's not that complicated," Ryota said, "It's more like I am just new to this so even I don't know what I am feeling at the moment. Shizuka told me that it could be just adrenaline but I don't think so anymore, after all, it's already been a long day and I still don't hate the feeling. So maybe I am broken as well."
"Broken, huh," Saeko nodded, "That seems like a good way to describe us then."
"You're not that broken, compared to me." Ryota said, "You see, like you I am coming to love the feeling of power. The higher I go, the better I feel. It's like just letting go of everything that was holding me back. For you there is a cure, you just need someone strong who'll always keep you a level down. Someone you can never defeat so they can keep you in control, so you won't let go of yourself. But for me, though I am new at this I can tell at the very least that I am already way too far gone to be just controlled."
"And who's going to keep me in control?" Saeko smiled when they suddenly heard someone shouting outside. It was a human voice not a zombie, so they both stood up and rushed to the balcony.
------------------------------------------------
"Daddy," The little girl called out to her father, "Where's mommy?"
"We're going to meet up with mom later. C'mon over here." The dad said as they went over to one of the houses knocking on the door, "Please let us in. I can't run away and leave my daughter behind!"
"Go away and find some other place to stay." Someone from within said looking quite panicked.
"I'm begging you! You don't have to look after us! Just let us in for my daughter!" The dad said in begging tone but seeing the urgency of the situation he began banging on the door with the wrench on his hand, "OPEN THE DAMN DOOR!!"
Saeko and Ryota looked at the scene with a sigh as they saw the young girl and her father begging the people to let them in.
"Humanity's rotting," Saeko sighed, "And here I was thinking that only I could be the selfish one."
"You're different though," Ryota said, "You still want to save them, don't you?"
"I feel bad for the girl but there's nothing we can do. I don't think we should risk our lives for this." Saeko said as she looked at Ryota who was smiling cheek to cheek, "What is it?"
"Though I don't know about controlling you, I can still assure you one thing, I'll always be stronger than you." Ryota said as he raised his hands high in the air as a golden ripple formed, "Go, I'll back you up."
Right in front of her eyes, she could see something shoot out of the golden ripple that formed above Ryota as it headed right towards the father-daughter duo, killing the man who opened the door with a knife in his hand. The other people who saw it were immediately terrified as they hurriedly closed the door as the father-daughter duo just stood there in shock as they looked back to see where the shot came from, only to witness something straight out of a manga.
The whole area was covered in several golden ripples as soon after, like rain, heavy stones flew out of the ripples, just shredding every zombie in sight one after another.
"Are you just going to stand here?" Ryota said looking back at Saeko who was looking at him with her jaws wide open. But she quickly snapped out of her trance as she rushed towards the father-daughter duo. Ryota looked Saeko who was bringing them over as he kept providing backup as they came closer towards the house. Seeing them enter the house, Ryota finally relaxed as he felt extremely tired. "And here I thought, I could use it without limit."
Ryota shook off his feeling as he went to greet the two new guest, the little girl was busy looking around while the dad had his eyes and jaws both open, still unable to factor what just happened. Ryota came over as he threw one of his clothes at Saeko trying to cover her, "Wear this for now,"
"Jealous, are you?" Saeko smiled happily taking his clothes, "But we sure have a lot of discussions to do."
"Sure." Ryota smiled sending Saeko upstairs as he looked at the man who gulped looking at his gaze, "I know you have some questions but it's better if you calm down first or else you'll freak your daughter out further."
The man looked at his daughter and nodded, hugging her as he breathed a sigh of relief. Ryota noticed a dog behind them, that seemed to have followed them in. "Just rest for today and we'll talk tomorrow."
Ryota pointed them to a room and went upstairs without hearing them out as he went towards the room he was previously sleeping in and where Saeko was currently changing her clothes.
Saeko looked at Ryota who was all sweaty and looked extremely tired. Holding him before he crashed she laid him on the best as she asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
"I am good, just tired." Ryota said, "I don't think they would try something but just in case, I've hidden every weapon, so unless they try to harm us no need to go after them."
"You stored the things in that golden ripple of yours?"
"I like to call it the Gate of Babylon." Ryota said, "It's more like my powers, where I can store anything and shoot it out at an extremely high speed to explain it simply."
"And you have those powers because?"
"Let's just say I am a man on a mission," Ryota said, "Everything I told you about is the truth except no one knows about this part of me. In fact you're the first."
"So you're like god-sent?" Saeko questioned, "I know I am asking a lot of questions but I can't help it after what I've just witnessed."
"You're doing pretty good then I expected, I thought you'll just freak out and run away but maybe it's because it's you that you're this calm." Ryota said, "As for the god-sent part, I don't know about that but I am angel-sent if that helps. I know you still have questions but I can't answer them all at the moment. But I am really serious when I say this that I don't mean you any harm and that I haven't lied to you."
"Well, that's good enough for now, I guess." Saeko nodded with a smile, "So do you have any other powers?"
"It's a secret." Ryota winked, "But it's not too flashy, so don't worry about it."
Saeko pouted a little as she finally let it go, lying right next to him. She could feel his breathing getting calmer as he quickly fell asleep. Remembering the scene at the school and all the things they did today, she knew he must've been feeling really tired. She slowly caressed his hair watching him sleep with no worries on his face, 'You really are mysterious, Ryota-kun.'
