Invitation

"How was it, Lillian?" Ray asked sitting across from her and eating a lot more than she thought he would.

"It was really good." She said, beaming. "I got many things done. What about you, Ray?" 

"Still no proper clues yet." He sighed. "But we are still looking at what we can, for now." 

He fell silent for a while, attention drifting away until Lillian snapped her fingers at his face, almost startling him. 

"Right, how is Fawn?" 

"You make it seem like she is a product for me to review," Lillian said, teasing him just a little bit. 

"Did I make her feel that way?" he asked, putting his head in his hands. "I should apologise to her." 

"You don't have to worry about that, Ray." Lillian chuckled as the boy tried to get up that moment itself. "I was just being a bit of a prick. Why have I never heard of her before?"
