"How rude... it just dropped me like that." I said aloud as I looked around in the darkness.
I've been free falling for at least half an hour now. At first, I couldn't stop screaming because... well, I was falling into a pit of darkness. Now, I'm just wondering what will happen when it finally ends...
I'm getting tired... maybe... I should just... close my eyes... just for a bit...
*zzz*
Murky liquid surrounded me in a warm embrace as I curled up to drift further away to sleep. My mind felt empty. I don't know how long I spent in the murky darkness. The warmth was cozy; although, the limited space to move around was a downside.
"Ah...I wish I could just stay here forever... so comfortable..." I thought as I once again drifted off into my seemingly endless sleep.
*Pop*
"Eh... what was that?" The world around me shifted as it began getting smaller, pushing me towards a light. "Aw... I don't want to go yet..." my laziness prompted me to stick my arms out as if I was stretching in order to stop the force from pushing me away from my haven.
"Ahh!...what in th-Ahh!" A new voice reached my ears as I left my sanctuary.
I felt the immediate absence of warmth as the cold nighttime air rushed forward to sap the heat out of my damp body.
"What in the world did I just go through?" I thought to myself as I considered the faint possibility of... "No...no... just no... let's forget about this..." my thoughts were interrupted as a pair of shaking arms picked me up, gently wrapping me up in a blanket, creating a fluffy barrier between my newborn body and the invasive air.
I opened my eyes to see a blurry image of an beautiful woman with long dark hair smiling down at me with a sad look in her exhausted pale, pupil-less eyes.
"Kaa-san is so sorry. Kaa-san has to leave you there for now. Kaa-san will come back with Tou-san as soon as possible. Hana..." The woman holding me, who I presume to be my mother started shaking lightly as she held back her tears. "Kaa-san is sorry for not being able to stay with you."
I felt myself being set down.
*knock*
*knock*
*knock*
Three heavy knocks echoed from above me as I heard my new kaa-san slip away into the night.
"Be happy Hana." I heard her voice whisper out before her figure faded away into the towering trees.
*Creaaaak*
I heard the door hinges give an ear-splitting squeak as footsteps approached my laying form.
"Oh...not another one. You poor child." A trembling elderly voice said before I was lifted up and taken away from the cold night into the building.
"Hana..." the elderly obasan said as I turned my head as she called my name. In her hands, I saw a wooden bracelet with a white bead and red bead at opposite ends with engravings on the band between the beads.
She walked over towards me, slipping the bracelet on my wrist when it suddenly shrunk to fit snugly around my tiny wrist.
I was astounded. Just what kind of world did that person put me in?
***Time Skiparoo***
At 4 months, I had mastered the art of crawling and explored every inch of the building which I had found to be a small orphanage managed by a kind elderly obasan. Her husband had passed away long before she started taking care of children, leaving her all alone with her young son. After her son grew up, he quickly left the house and dedicated himself to his work. She filled the gap left by her husband and son by taking care of children who were thrown away by their parents either due to their inability to care for them or their lack of responsibility. So far, there had been no sight of my kaa-san.
At 6 months I took my first step and found out that there were only 5 other children being cared for at the orphanage, most of the older children had already been adopted by new parents while only the unwanted and strange children stayed behind. I was the youngest out of the six, the other five already toddling around the playroom with their inexperienced, wobbly legs. My kaa-san still hadn't shown up... and here I had been excited to finally have a family that cared about me...
At 9 months I could walk anywhere I wished and had even begun running around the orphanage. I discovered that the orphanage I was at was located in the outskirts of a larger village called Konohagakure. It seemed that the orphanage now only consisted of children that people in the village didn't want because all of the children remaining in the orphanage were bullied by the village kids and looked upon with pity by most of the villagers until they were taken by men dressed in what seemed to resemble a green military vest with an accompanying animal mask. None of the children adopted by the masked men ever came back. Although some of the ones who were adopted by their new parents visited once or twice before they stopped coming back.
I was finally able to find a mirror and discovered that although my hair color was still black, my large eyes had become a beautiful shade of pastel pink. My skin was a luscious fair tone with no blemishes. My features greatly resembled my kaa-san except for my eyes which seemed to shift between a light - almost white - pink when I was sad and a dark pink - almost a blood red color - when I got angry. This scared anyone away from me, which is why I wasn't adopted even after so long. Should I cry? Nahh.
"I'm going to be gowgeous when I gwow up." I pointed my nose up happily as I gave my looks a 10/10.
At the 1 year mark, I got close to a blindingly bright yellow haired kid with whiskers on his face who was constantly loud and playful. Although it seemed to be a mask he used to hide his loneliness as he cried himself to sleep on some nights. He seemed pretty special because a grandpa dressed in strange robes with a red hat always came to check up on him. Later, I learned that the boy's name was Naruto... Wait... That sounds familiar...
Naruto...
Naruto... Uzomikki?
No... Uzimaku?...
Oh... Uzumaki.... wait...
I reincarnated in THAT Narutoworld!?
