Chapter 35

A lot of preparation, a bit of inspiration

"Well, America and World, I assume you're wondering what all of this is." he said, gesturing at his apparatus.

"I'll tell you while I finish."

Nom pulled out the blade.

"This, ladies and gentlemen, is my crude variation on the blades used in classic French guillotines. Back during the election campaign of our illustrious Führer over there," Nom said gesturing at the President," he liked to frequent Vyrodok's right wing conspiracy radio show.

Nom rose and loosened the eight fasteners, two on each the blades' corners.

"Dick Vyrodok is a particularly interesting moron. Among the lovely conspiracy beliefs he holds, is one that the school shootings that plague this country are a conspiracy played out by 'crisis actors'. A fabulous ruse, to try and steal guns from 'innocent' conservatives like him."

Nom set the blade between the steel ropes and attached it. Two ring fasteners, to each rope half, made a sliding frame for his blade to ride up and down on.

"The conspiracy I found most entertaining held that the liberals of America are building guillotines and storing them in their basements. Apparently, we will use them for the day we rise up and seek to kill all the conservatives. It was delusional bull shit, but it also was so amusing, that I decided to draw inspiration from it."

Nom attached one end of the pulleyed rope to the center of the blade mount with a clamp.

"I, for one, would hate to disappoint Dick Vyrodok." Nom said with a chuckle. "I also have to give credit to Mrs. Kathy Griffin. The magazine cover was inspiring satire of the highest order."

Nom propped the knife edge of the blade with a magazine, to keep it from falling on the floor. His solution to the blade mass issue and portability problem, was a stroke of genius. Add the weight after he got to the set, so that he would not have to lug an eighty pound blade.

Nom took the water bags and headed for the set's kitchen sink.

"Now this rig is a bit sloppy, but it is homemade and portable. Not to mention, I needed to be able to sneak it past security. Sure I could have done all the killing I need to with only a wish, but sometimes you just want to do a thing with your own two hands."
