While we waited for the leaders to finish with their business Anagi and I flew up and watched the Silver City go about its normal business as if nothing was going on within this meeting hall. "So, Arius, what plans do you have today?" Anagi asked putting her head on my shoulder. "I'm not really sure my love, probably the same stuff I normally do. I might spar with the twins or hunt a Beast." Anagi looked into my eyes waiting for me to tell her i was joking about the Beast hunt. "Please tell me you're kidding." She said anxiously.
I sighed and pulled out a scroll that had a red ribbon sealing it closed. "There's a Beast in the mortal plane that is killing some reapers and even took out our old Coffin commander. It needs to be dealt with and Lord Death tasked me with its extermination. If it makes you feel any better I wont be going alone, the twins are coming with me." She relaxed a bit and we went back to watching the Silver City. The scaleless dragon flew up and sat next to us but remained silent. I looked around but couldn't find the Black Hand anywhere. "What's your name dragon?" I spoke up looking into his piercing red eyes. He looked up and fell back just staring into the nothingness above us. "I no longer have a name, youngling. When a dragon goes scaleless we must be named when our scales come back, If that happens I will let you know. Just call me Dragon till then." A puff of smoke escaped his mouth and he closed his eyes. "Just one more question Dragon and I'll leave you alone. Where is the Black Hand?"
Dragon just turned his head, "Hells if I know I was wondering the same thing." I looked around and caught a glimpse of a squad of angels flying towards the spire in the center of the city then more and more kept going there, I got up and flew up to get a better look. I noticed that they all seemed to be going towards a dark green energy that felt menacing. So I flew back down and decided to tell Anagi and Dragon. "Hey, follow me there's something going on by the central tower I want to check it out, it feels menacing. Anagi stood up but Dragon stayed where he was.
"It's probably just angel business might as well just stay here or we could get thrown in the cage right next to Bael." Dragon said simply keeping his eyes on the skies, like he was longing to be in them. "Suit yourself," I tossed him an ear piece, "let me know if anything happens here." He grunted but placed it in his ear as we flew up and towards the central tower.
On the way there I saw even more angels going towards it all carrying a wide array of weapons, some had maces or swords while others had lances and one even had what looked like a human gun. "I wonder what they're doing there." Anagi spoke up over the wind screaming in our ears. I shrugged and felt an intense searing pain in my chest. I screamed out and looked behind me seeing the lance disintegrate inches from the small of my back. "That would have paralyzed me."
The angel that threw the lance was in a daze his eyes were glazed over in the same menacing green energy that the other angels were going towards as he made another lance appear and took aim hoping to hit me this time. "Dive!" I yelled over at Anagi she did as I said. I drew my scythe and stopped floating in midair. "Halt, continue towards the hell gate and you will be terminated." Hell gate? I pointed the blade of my scythe at the angel and gathered energy in the blade. "Try and stop me pigeon." I released the energy and the angel immediately dropped out of the sky. I flew as fast as I could and caught him before he hit the street below, I carried him to the roof of the nearest building and flew back up. "Dragon!" I heard him growl through the ear piece before he answered. "What boy?" He sounded agitated and tired. "The angels are being controlled by something coming from a hell gate. Be on guard." He shouted something in the dragon's native tounge and I saw a huge blast of flames erupt from where we took off. "Yeah, I see that thank you." He spat the words out sarcastically. "Anagi, come heal the angel while i go check out that hell gate."
I flew up and made a beeline straight towards the green energy with little resistance. Once I reached the hell gate I saw the Black Hand and several angels surrounded by the green energy. "Hey, Dragon, can you reach me?" I whispered trying not to alert any angels that were within earshot. "Yeah give me about 2 minutes and ill be right on top of you." I watched as the Black Hand placed his hand on an angel that was chained and being pulled into the hell gate. "Yes you will make a fine Beast. You bring me the vial!" He shouted the order to one of the glazed angels which did as he was told without hesitation. The vial was full of a strange glowing purple liquid with a symbol I have never seen etched into the glass. He uncorked it and forced it down the angels throat.
The angel began thrashing pulling hard against the chains as if he was in incredible pain. His screams tore through the air then he was still. I picked up my scythe and began to head towards him but was stopped when Dragon landed on me causing me to lose my scythe and be pushed into the open. "What the hells Dragon!?" He got up and tried to hide his laughter. "I told you I'd be right on top of you, sorry scaleless lose their wings so im not used to flying this way." I felt a hand grip my throat as I was hoisted into the air I gasped trying to breathe when the Black Hand spoke. "Well well look who dropped in."
