After purchasing your new weapon or a special belt to keep the weapon close to your waist. Shakal and Machi left the store and continued searching for more antiques. As the hours passed, the two returned to the hotel.
A few days later, in the Dolle port, a huge ship came ashore. Both Shakal and Machi were waiting near the pier, for all passengers to get off.
When all the passengers had already touched solid ground, the ship's captain gave a clue to find a guide.
The two of them had already learned well in advance how they should proceed to continue to find the guide, so without waiting any longer, both quickly left for the large tree that was a few kilometers from the port.
They passed a somewhat hidden path, which led to a small, apparently abandoned city. Even so, the two detected that there were several people inside the houses.
Upon reaching the center of the small ghost town, people began to quickly leave the houses, blocking the way to advance towards the big tree.
"Stop, young adventurers." - An old woman said, in a solemn tone.
The two, hearing what the old woman said, stopped.
"To pass you will have to answer a question, if you succeed the way will open for you. If you fail, your hunter exam will end now. " - I finish explaining the old woman.
Shakal took a quick look at Machi, and quickly replied to the old woman.
"Very well, what is the question?"
After a few moments of silence, the woman spoke.
"You have a chance to save the life of a 5-year-old boy: get him out of a burning building, since he is in the next room. But at the same time, you know that in 30 years he will become one of the most dangerous and wanted criminals in the city. Would you take pity on that child or would you act to preserve the future tranquility of the city? " - said the old woman. "You have 10 seconds to give me an answer."
"I see, the information they have provided us is completely correct. Every year the old woman always asks a question that tests the moral or ethics of each person. In this case, if I save the boy from the fire, in 30 years many people will die because of him.
But if I don't save him, I would let a totally innocent child die. There probably won't be any correct answers, but I would personally save the child if given the opportunity, since no one can be tried for crimes they did not commit. " Shakal thought.
The two remained silent as the seconds ticked by. At the appointed time, the old woman spoke.
"Not having answered, I will take silence as your final answer. Therefore both of you pass. If you continue on the hunter's path, and find yourself in a similar situation, I wonder what you two will do. " - Said the old woman, as several men opened doors that led to the real path to reach the big tree.
Shakal and Machi started walking towards the secret path, and before entering it, Shakal answered the old woman's question.
"Obviously it would save the child, no one person can judge another based on something they have not yet done. Also for a child to become a murderer, I wonder what kind of life he would have to have and if he can really be blamed for everything. " - Shakal replied, using a serious tone according to the situation.
Machi stepped a little ahead of Shakal, without saying a word. If someone had seen her face, it could see that some of the words spoken by the boy, affected in some way her person.
Inside the trail and during its entire journey they found nothing. The two reached the tree in about ten minutes. Upon arrival they saw a large mansion at the foot of the tree.
With a gentle wave of his hand, Shakal knocked on the door, to see if anyone would answer him.
Seeing that no one answered, before forcing their entry, I use En to scan the house.
As he did so, he realized that there were three creatures inside. Just as I was about to force the door open and enter. One of the creatures gave a feminine scream.
Both Shakal and Machi broke the door and entered quickly. Shakal was surprised to see that of the three creatures detected by his aura, two of them had a human form and the last one was a magical beast.
"Pf, it seems that these beasts can change their appearance. Although they are of little use against nen users, since their auras do not belong to humans. It must be a trap. " - Shakal thought as he quickly shot towards them.
Seeing that the young man disappeared from his sight, the magic beast that was using his true appearance tried to leave the house quickly, but his speed was insufficient. With a quick movement, Shakal reached to his back, and with a blow he knocked the beast to the ground.
Seeing that their trap failed and that their relative was in danger, the two other human-transformed beasts showed their true faces, but before they even moved, Machi reached her side and quickly stopped them.
"Do not move, a movement and things will not end well. For you. "- Shakal said.
"Wait wait. You have passed the test, we will take you to the exam. " - Said one of the magic beasts, scared to death.
Shakal looked at Machi, she nodded her head, and they both released the beasts.
After releasing the magic beasts, they explained their entire plan and gave more information. Without taking long, the three beasts took off from the ground and carrying Shakal and Machi by their legs, they began to fly towards the location of the next test.
It took them five hours to reach their destination, an island, almost deserted if it weren't for the strange building in the middle of it.
Upon landing, the group headed to the door of the building, and the beasts gave a sort of password to the guard at the front door.
"From now on it is up to you, but with the strength you have, you will have no problems. Goodbye." said one of the beasts.
Shakal entered the building, followed very close by Machi.
