Book 1: Chapter 38: Opportunities

Everybody look at the Old Man and at Regal, the people dissatisfied with the what the the senior said but none of them show and voice out their satisfaction. But of course this doesn't stop them from envying Regal. Indeed the first test already began but they lacked courage, and they only talk and started to have courage after the benefits has been laid to them.

Being pragmatic and cautious is indeed something commendable, but if the qualification is courage and pioneering indeed Regal got ahead of them and got the Old man's attention. But in the face of power nothing will hold everyone especially with a power that's unfathomable. Some of them showed their courage by saying.

"Senior if that's the case we indeed lost at this time but surely that's not your only criteria right? Can we also join your test of inheritance?" Someone said.

"Yes senior I don't believe that he's better than me in all other aspect." Someone sneered, many more voices to show their courage and willingness to partake the test.

Looking at this scene Regal shook his head and inwardly he wanted to refute what they're saying, but deciding not to. Whatever they said that's their comprehension of his action but he knew that it's not really that. By thinking this way he felt something inside him lifted like a heavy weight being lifted from his chest which made him felt good. So he decided to ignore all these people and focus on the senior.

The Old man just smiled and waves his hand and the crowd instantly quieted. By the waves of his hand all of the people talking felt that they lost the control of their own body, and made them remember that even if the Old man is an amicable senior he still possess tremendous power that they forgot they dread.

Thankfully the suppression on them instantly vanish and the Old man smiled and said. "Of course he indeed pass that first two qualification that I'm looking for but that's only the start. Very well then those who have the resolve to take the test go to the right side. Those who doesn't go to the left side. But be warned this test isn't simple and you may die. Gaining power isn't simple as you think younglings." After the Old man said the corridor change into an open field in a blink of an eye.

And the Old man at the middle of the green grassy field still sitting in a lotus position in the air.

"Make your decision now those who doesn't want to participate in the inheritance will be receiving different test you have my word, I'll give you guys a different set of opportunity." As the Elder said this everyone eye's lit up the Old man was way way stronger than them that they didn't even understand what realm of power he possessed. To have his word alone that they have the treasure not many was eager to try the inheritance because of the danger, one didn't have to be a genius to understand that it's not that simple to obtain his recognition judging his previous action, the way he carry his self the bearing alone carry a sense of majesty.

Regal at this point showed the flaw in his character again, he's undecisive of which path to take. Both are opportunity presented and both are a good option, while Regal was contemplating the fellow around him already made their decision Zack included he was on the side of the inheritance, While the half we're standing at the left were also the half of the people around him.

Only he was left in the middle contemplating, seeing this a lot of them sneered at him saying in their mind that he's indecisive and lost the opportunity given by the great senior.

'He's really too young not decisive enough when given two good opportunities'

'Only gaining the favor of the senior by his stupidity and he think he's special'

'Great! Now that he revealed his flaw the senior won't be spare more of his attention to him'

Zack was also surprise that someone like Regal who gave him surprise again and again gave him another surprises.

The Old man was also surprised at the young man that caught his eye earlier with a smile.

Everyone find it odd but Regal was lock in his own thought that he forgot to make his decision only to be woken up by the Old man's voice.

"What is the problem youngling I didn't gave the option and opportunity at the middle why not choose now so we can start the trial?"

Of course all the other people was gloating at his misfortune by the senior personally calling him out to make a decision.

"Forgive me for my indecision senior something about my heart told me that if I make a choice here I'll be making more decisions like this in the future, and if I ended up choosing inheritance a teacher once is a teacher for life as I've been taught, can you enlighten me senior?" Regal said this and everyone sneered and disdained showing on their faces.

"Too arrogant what do you think you're the one will get senior recognition?"

"Shameless who doesn't know himself how shameful staying in the same space as you."

Zack pondered a bit after hearing Regal's word not only him but many more powerful figure pondered his word the teacher part make sense to them, but even them saying that he will be the inheritor was way too arrogant and they think that he's just making excuses by not taking the risk of the opportunities.

"Stupid! You think you're special because of..." before another snigger come from someone's mouth Old man talked first.

"Very well if that's the case I'll enlighten you stay here if that's what you want the rest of you come with me" By saying that a chain out of nowhere chained him on four limbs made him stuck.

Regal was surprised and tried to struggle as the initial response from anyone getting chained. The chained was there restraining him the chain color was translucent seemingly half illusory half materialized.

'What's this? Why can't I move what kind of power is this?' Regal thought but suddenly he realized he only have physical aspect even his perception here is the only thing he can only rely but having to perceive the surroundings are useless when he's unable to move completely.

Regal struggled for a while but at the end he can't he only have his perception but that didn't help. He was now lock by a power he doesn't understand.

Most of them look at him with gloating expression some of them sighed by his own arrogance, and some happy some don't care and only anticipating what will the trial be.

Mingyun was of course here the but he was in the other opportunity on the left side he looked at this person with a complicated expression, Regal helped him accepted him and give him a boost which will anyone want. But seeing him like this send a doubt in his heart as a sign of respect will keep his ability but won't interfere for he was powerless too.

Regal's mind was in shambles and also saw the complicated expression on Mingyun's face his first initial reaction was thinking that he betrayed him. But after careful analysis he did not. He was powerless anyway what more Mingyun was weak and everyone has their own opportunity. He just sighed and felt that he was powerless he only smiled and nodded at him.

And at that very moment everyone else vanish at the green scenery vanished Mingyun and the rest saw they're now at the forest with towering trees, by towering the trees all of them didn't see the top only darkness, the world and everything around them are grey. the soil was desolate dried from and decayed from the power of time, there's not only forest but also small mountain, and mountain so big that the gloomy dark cloud didn't let their eyes see the top.

"Here is an ancient battlefield more than 1 KM is dangerous and I won't babysit you all younglings, there's many opportunity here but it's up to you. Anything you find here can be change for points, yes even your points is needed here. After all this is also the part of the tower." With that the conjecture of those smarter people confirmed. They were still at the tower but shocked and surprise on how this tower contain so many secrets. And how big is this Tower? They don't know.

Almost all of them forgot that they're undergoing the trial forgot the points system and now they we're reminded of the time limit and the reward system they we're elated given a goal and reminder. They look at the Old man but they saw him gone but still bowed with gratitude toward the location Old man vanished.

"Points right, hey you how much points do you have! Give me your points!" Someone shouted at the other while charging forward with large strides. And many more situation like this happen in the ancient desolate battlefield.

"The heart of man is indeed hard to understand" After the Old man said this at the some point floating above the sky looking wise shook his head and vanished.

In some other place the Old man at the middle of a clear blue sky the surroundings was crystal clear, the weather was humid like on a beach at the surroundings are covered with walls making the place look small but in fact it's very large, the wall towered through the clouds and one couldn't see how tall it is. And at the middle there's a large each staircase was wide that can fit one hundred person wide, and the stair as high as 100 steps. At the top sat a pavilion seemingly made of unknown rock but it looked very old yet at the same time looked new. The stone here are strange at the bottom of the staircase is a clear clean small pond which looked like a abode for an immortal.

"The trial will start now meet me at the top of the pavilion and I will tell you the next step. If you can't even climb up on this stair then there's nothing more to talk above my inheritance. Oh and do take not that anyone who falls on the pond with any of you, no matter what you do you will explode there." The old man said while vanishing and showing up a blink of an eye after at the pavilion."

Of course many fellow want to try jumping at the water because no matter what they do this pond sure contain power even they detected, but the Old man's reminder pour on them like a bucket of cold water making them reign their greed all the time.

Zack was shock by everything he's seeing because his ability somehow connect with auras and energy.

The Old man just sit at the pavilion with closed eyed again in lotus position.

While Regal was in the green scenery alone chained up. Alone giving him a feel of solitude and helplessness.
