Chapter fifteen: Beginning of Hell

~~I don't know why I love you. I don't know why I stay. I don't know if it's worth the pain. But even when you slam the door and drive away, I still set the table for two. Babe, you know I'm waiting for you...~~~

Samantha's POV:

"Good morning, Mrs. Williams. Here's your breakfast."

"Jack." I smiled as she placed the tray of food on the bed. She insisted last night to stay and sleep in one of the guest rooms since Luke hadn't yet arrived.

"How's your sleep?" She asked, still smiling.

"You don't have to do this, Jack."

"I know, but I love to, so you'd better get up and fix yourself and I will join you to eat these delicious pancakes and chocolate waffles... Hmm." She really had to close her eyes and smell the food in front of her.

"Is he already here?"

She suddenly stopped in her tracks. "I think these pancakes are best with chocolate syrup!" She stood up, pretending not to hear me.

"Jack, is Luke already here?"

"Oh, yeah... I forgot to make a coffee, I'll be back---"

"Jackeline!" I yelled before she could even reach the door.

She turned to the bed, sighing.

"Haist, Sam." She said shaking her head.

I knew it. Honestly, I already know the answer, but I just don't know why I had to ask and literally hear it.

"Why don't you call him?"

"As if he would answer my calls."

A few seconds of silence had passed before she took the spoon and fork and started slicing the pancakes.

"You know what, I'm starting to get worried about you, especially now that you're two months pregnant. Will you still continue your studies?"

"Of course! It's only two months and we're graduating from senior high school."

"But what about your condition?"

"Jack, I'm just pregnant but I can still walk, I can still read, nothing's changed. And I don't care whatever people may tell me. I will graduate from this school year and show them that being pregnant is not a reason not to continue your dreams!"

"Ahh... that's good to hear, girl! Just always remember that your family and of course, me, your best friend, will always be here for you in every step of the way."

"Thanks, Jack."

When she left the house, I started doing my morning routine... I arranged some of my personal things, fixed my bed and sleeping sheet and then I took a bath before going down to the living room.

My mother-in-law temporarily assigned us their two maids te to us while we wait for the new maids to arrive.

I stopped when I reached the last step of the stairs and wander my eyes around the living room. I chose almost all the stuff placed in all the corners of this house, even the colours for the interior design that my father-in-law asked me two weeks before the ceremony. They hurriedly painted the walls and arranged all the stuff before they gave us the key three days ago.

I'm sure our wedding picture is to be delivered today, maybe before lunch as it was my mother's request.

I sighed and then headed to the grand piano which was on the left side of the stairs, but my eyes caught by the photos placed on top of it. There's a photo of Luke when he was playing basketball for the first time. The second one is the photo of him and my brother wearing a basketball uniform with their arms around each other's shoulders.

But I couldn't help smiling when I saw my photo. It's one of my favourite photos that were taken when I was in the park swing four years ago. If I remembered it correctly, this was the first photo that Dale has taken since he learned to use his camera. And last but not least is my photo with Jack.

I was still busy reminiscing our childhood memories through the pictures when I heard the sound of the front door being opened. I turned around only to see my husband still wearing his suit from yesterday.

"Luke," I uttered surprise and I didn't notice the smile that painted on my lips until he gave me a sharp look and bumped my shoulder when he reached my spot.

"Get out of my way!"

He yelled, his breath fanned across my face. But that's not what almost made me choke, it's his suit that smelled of alcohol and some strong female scent perfume.

I formed my fists. He didn't even say a single sorry as he immediately walked past me.

"Where have you been?" I asked following him to the stairs and he stopped before he could reach the first step. "You didn't even answer my calls and oh, God, Luke Marcuz! You really left your wife on the day of your wedding just to meet your other girlfriend? How dare you?" I couldn't help raising my voice.

He turned around clenching his jaws and threw his coat over his shoulder.

"Huh! What did you say?" He started taking steps back in my direction. "How dare you ask me where I have been and use the word 'other' to refer my girlfriend! Let me just remind you that Cherry is my only girlfriend and you're nothing to me!"

"No, you're wrong. I am now your wife so I have every right to ask your whereabouts."

The reaction he gave me was something I wasn't expecting. He laughed at me. The kind of laugh that's laced with insults and sarcasm.

"Can you repeat what you said? My wife?" I gulped when he laughed at me again. "You're not my wife, Samantha! You're just the mother of my child so don't expect more than that because you will never have my heart. And this marriage--- this is something I will regret having done in my whole life!"

"Luke..."

"I have a secret to share with you." He sneered and I blinked back the tears that wanted to flow my face. "Actually, I was about to run two days ago with her, the one you called 'my other girlfriend', but I changed my mind. You wanna know why? Because running away from all this would be so easy and I thought if I did, it's just like letting you laugh and succeeds with your plans and I won't let that happen. Hmm... didn't I promise you two weeks ago that if you didn't stop the wedding, I would make your life a living hell? Here I am, you want hell, then I'll give you hell!"

I blew a deep breath to calm my nerves before looking directly into his eyes.

"Yeah, I haven't forgotten what you said, but let me also remind you that whatever you give me is the same thing you give to your child? Don't you feel tired?"

"Tired? Why, are you feeling tired already, sweetheart?"

I held my breath when I heard what he called me.

'Sweetheart'

Why does it feel so nice hearing that endearment coming from him, even though I know he was just insulting me?

I flinched when he grabbed both of my shoulders and made me look at him. Maybe I was really becoming crazy as I lost myself when stared right into his blue ocean eyes.

"Remember, this is just the beginning of hell that I promised you and there are lots of it on the way!"

"Ouch! What the---" he gave me a light push, but not enough to lose my balance.

"Be ready, Samantha, because I'm going to show you who the real Luke Marcuz is." He paused for a second. "So if you don't want to taste it soon, don't go my way! I'll give you all access to this house--- except my room, do you understand? Don't you ever touch any of my things and never ask me anything other than those things with regards to my child. I'll go anywhere, leave the house without asking your permission whenever I want and I'll go home whenever I please without hearing any questions from you. Don't ask anything about my personal life and I'll do the same with you."

"Damn!" I was finally able to breathe when he left. "Wow! That was hard for the first day of being his wife, huh?" I scoffed. "But it's okay, I'm a girl scout and I'm always ready... well, I was born ready."

And instead of thinking and be affected with what he said, I pushed it into the deepest layer of my brain and continued with I had planned to do today. I know the following days will never be easy between him and me, but it's not enough reason to feel down. I'm having a baby so I need to be strong. He's now my life, my new hope and I'll make him my every reason to live, to fight, to dream and continue my life.
