I'll cut to the chase

"Master Wang, a representative of the Dragon Club is here to speak to you."

Wang Longwei had his hands in his pocket, looking out of the floor-to-ceiling window of his office. There was a light rain that just started, leaving a few droplets on the glass. He had heard that the men he sent were all eliminated. Not even one was left to send a message to him. It seemed like Juyan was really protecting the girl well. His men looked at each other, wondering if he had heard them.

Finally, he turned around with a sneer. "Bring him in."

He sat down and brought his hands together. His favorite hand gun was placed on top of his desk, just in case he wanted to kill anyone at any time.

The door opened to reveal Guan Ting in a trim black suit under a gray coat, his hands encased in leather gloves. He strode in gracefully without any body guards with him. He wasn't really worried; if anyone touched him here, Dragon Club would completely eliminate Jade Circle.

He sat down on an arm chair without being told to do so, and crossed a leg over one knee. "Master Wang Longwei..."

Insulted that this guy just walked in without showing him any sign of respect, he decided to dispel with the pleasantries. "Well if it isn't Fei Huangjin's dog."

Guan Ting let out a laugh. "A piece of advice: be careful what you say. I may be his dog, but this dog certainly has higher status than you."

"You…" Wang Longwei narrowed his eyes at him, and his hands tightened into fists. He was exercising great self-control at the moment, when all he wanted to do was put a bullet in the other man's brain.

"I'll cut to the chase." Guan Ting angled his head to the side, revealing an ugly scar that ran from his jaw to his ear. "My master, Fei Huangjin, sent me here to inform you that none of you will be touching his woman. As the future madame of the Dragon Club, if any harm comes to Miss Ying Yue, we will not hesitate to annihilate the Jade Circle."

Wang Longwei sat back. The girl was to be Fei Huangjin's wife?

Guan Ting stood up. Now that he had said his piece, there was no point in staying for much longer. "You better get that message out to your men." He eyed the other man with a glaring look and walked to the door.

The master of Jade Circle nodded his head, signaling the guards to let Guan Ting out. He pursed his lips and took out a cigarette, grabbing his lighter to burn one end of the stick.

When the guest was sent out, Wang Longwei blew a cloud of smoke around him, motioning for one of his men to approach him. "I want Xu Lin here in ten minutes or I'll blow your head off."

The man scurried off to find the Jade Circle's red pole as Wang Longwei took out a knife from his drawer. Carefully, he checked how sharp it was by pressing the blade onto one of his fingers.

He started to bleed.

The door opened and Xu Lin came in with sweat gleaming his forehead.

In one swift move, Wang Longwei angled the knife and threw it at him. The knife landed with a loud thud on the wooden panel behind him.

Xu Lin was able to deflect just in time, but not without having a part of his head shaved off. "Ma-master," he stuttered. If he wasn't quick enough, that knife would have gone straight through his skull.

"Idiot. You told me the girl was nothing but his secretary. Explain to me why Guan Ting came here declaring that she is to be Fei Huangjin's wife." He took another puff of his cigarette and blew it to the direction of the other man.

Xu Lin staggered sideways. "Wife? Master, our informant told me otherwise."

"Kill that informant. Talking to stupid people can make you stupid, too." He sucked in his cheeks, looking frustrated.

"Yes, master."

"I want that girl investigated properly. If she really is Ying Shen's sister, get Su Jianjun to kill her without implicating the Jade Circle."

Xu Lin bowed his head low and left as quickly as he could.

It was midnight. The rain outside had already stopped. The words that Guan Ting said earlier left a burning mark in Wang Longwei's mind.

He took a look at some of the documents he had on his table -- records of the local businesses that owed them money and the financial records of the prostitution ring he ran in the red light district-- and shoved them all to the floor with a sweep of his hand. He had worked his entire life to get the Jade Circle to where it was today, and yet others still looked down on him the way the Dragon Club did.
