Nothing happened

"You better not if you don't want me to suspend you from Juyan for the rest of your life!"

A familiar low voice could be heard saying something to Big Boss in the background and Ying Yue's forehead creased. "Is Xi Shenghui there?"

Big Boss' phone was on loud speaker and Xi Shenghui was with him at his office. They were discussing the modifications for her protection when she called.

Xi Shenghui pointed at the phone to signal that he was going to speak with her and Big Boss held up both hands. He didn't want to speak with her anymore. He could feel his blood pressure rising with every word she said.

The captain of the phoenix team cleared his throat and stood next to the phone, crossing his arms over his chest. "Shadow fox, you shouldn't be over-confident just because you're with Fei Huangjin."

She pouted and sighed. She knew she was in the wrong. At least Xi Shenghui was calmer about it than Big Boss though. It would be more reasonable to talk to him. "I know. I'm sorry. That was my mistake."

"You're lucky Jade Circle only sent three people to tail you while you were on your date."

She was instantly reminded of something she was wondering about when she got back to the wharf. "Where did phoenix team and the other men go? When we got back to the riverside, there was no one there."

"We took care of the men from Jade Circle." He glanced over at Big Boss who was pacing the office floor with a frown. "Big Boss got Mo Yiling to draw up live satellite images of the river and we found you there on a boat with the CEO. He was really worried."

She groaned. "I know."

"Do you really?" He paused, "You sure you're alright? Did anything else happen?"

She shook her head. "No, nothing happened."

"Good." He went on to explain the changes that he ran through with Big Boss. One of the men from phoenix team was going undercover as an employee of Fei International. Shifting schedules were modified. Her apartment security system was getting an upgrade -- stuff like that. "Also, I suggested to Big Boss that we talk to Fei Huangjin about the security around you two so that you guys won't keep running away from us. It's a big help to get Dragon Club around you. And since he most likely knows you're from Juyan, there's no point in hiding it anymore."

Ying Yue frowned. She wasn't very comfortable asking this from Fei Huangjin. "Even if I promise I won't do it again?"

"Regardless of what happened, that has always been my plan. It just got pushed forward."

"I'm sorry I made a mess of things earlier," she said in a low voice. Knowing Big Boss was extremely upset at her right now made her feel like a kid scolded by her father.

"You should be. And I'll be driving you to work and pick you up to send you back from now on. If you need to go out at any time between that, some of the phoenix team will be on standby for you."

"Wait," Ying Yue bit her lip. She was a bit embarrassed to say it out loud. "Fei Huangjin wants to drive me to and from work starting tomorrow."

He frowned. This CEO guy was really quick on the move. "Okay. I guess it's safer that way, too."

Big Boss stalked over to him with his hands on his hips, his face still upset.

"But if he's not available, you call me right away, understood? No more going off on your own."

"Yes, captain."

"Shadow fox," Big Boss started to say, "If you're going to run away and refuse help from us again, I'm cutting you off from Juyan. Is that clear?"

The words he uttered got Ying Yue a bit depressed, and she sat up with a pout. "Crystal."[1]

"Mo Yiling and some of the phoenix team will be heading over to your apartment tonight to install the upgraded security system over there."

Checking the clock on the wall, it was almost midnight. She still had to get up at five in the morning to get to work. Her lips turned down at the corners as she realized this. "Okay. Make it quick. I'm tired."

Big Boss cursed her in his head. It must have been his fault for spoiling her a bit for the past couple of years. "If I were you, I'd get my ass up and brew some coffee for yourself and for them because these men have been up all day trying to keep you safe. Stop being selfish and think about that."

She lowered her head in defeat. "Yes, Big Boss."
