Ying Yue nervously punched in a code on the keypad attached to the wall, and in just a few seconds, the entire wardrobe was transformed into an armory. She watched as the skeptical look on Fei Huangjin brightened into surprise, and then into appreciation.
He walked to one compartment, where there were several rows of firearms and knives. Bending over to inspect one, he glanced at her and pointed to it. "This is the F5 Sinner. Dragon Club produced this."
"Really?" Her eyes widened. Although she knew that Dragon Club developed and distributed weapons all over Asia, she suddenly realized she didn't know much about them and their operations, after all.
Fei Huangjin nodded. However, he didn't forget what he came here for, and when he glanced back at the alluring woman on the other side of the room, he flashed her a smirk. "Don't think that you can distract me this way. Are you going to talk now?"
For a moment, there was a blank look on her face. And then, she nodded.
"Come here," she beckoned him over to a compartment on the other side. She was already on her knees, punching another set of numbers and then scanning her thumb on the small screen. Finally, the screen glowed green, and the safe opened with a small click.
It only took her a few seconds to rummage through the contents of the safe. And when she pulled out a frame, she stood up to her full height and flashed him a wary look on her face.
He suddenly wondered if he had pushed her too much, and before he knew it, his lips were already moving on their own. "If you really don't want to tell me, it's fine." He bit his lip back. Actually, it wasn't fine.
At first, he thought she might back out on the conversation, but her wary eyes turned steely and she shook her head stubbornly at him. "No, I should tell you." Besides, she actually really wanted him to stay.
Hesitantly, she handed over the framed photo to Fei Huangjin.
His long fingers took hold of it and his eyes focused on the image before him. There he saw a man who was probably in his mid-twenties, with an arm wrapped around a girl. He was smiling, but it didn't reach his eyes, and there was a troubled look in them as he stared directly at the camera. He seemed familiar, but he was also sure he hadn't seen that face before.
In the man's arms was what appeared to be a younger version of Ying Yue, who had her hair cut to her shoulders and dyed in a crazy shade of red. Her cheeks were chubbier and fuller at this time. If anyone saw this and held it up against Ying Yue, people might mistake them for two different people, if it weren't for that same shape of the eyes and those lips that he was beginning to get addicted to kissing to.
Unknowingly, the corners of his mouth had already tugged into a small smile.
"Who's this?" He stole a glance at her, only to see a wan smile gracing her somber face.
"That's my brother, Ying Shen." She spoke quietly.
Fei Huangjin's eyebrows sunk deeper as he stared back at the eyes of the man in the photo. There was no mention of a brother in her profile, but the more he stared, the more he felt like those eyes were eerily similar to Ying Yue's. Still, he seemed familiar. "Where is he?"
"He's dead." She said, looking away calmly without a drop of change in her expression. If she showed an ounce of emotion now, it would cause a ripple effect through her, and she didn't want to get emotional right now. "Jade Circle killed him. He was going up the ranks in the syndicate and he was trusted with a lot of things, but he wanted to get out. For me."
Fei Huangjin placed the photo frame on the table in the middle of the room and took one step closer to her, putting himself directly in front of Ying Yue.
"He stole a couple of highly-classified documents. He told Big Boss that in the right hands, the documents would be enough to take down the syndicate. But Jade Circle got to him first."
