This was her chance to get back to her spy work. She missed the rush of handling missions like this! Conspiracies, embezzlement of funds, executives turning on each other -- she was the best in investigating these situations, and in stealing important documents, too.
The tea she was sipping on had gotten cold, but a giddy smile had formed on her lips. It was a stark contrast to the look of consternation on Fei Huangjin's face.
"It's too dangerous for you. There's a reason why you're still suspended from Juyan."
"That may be, but in case you didn't know," she flashed him a smug look, "I'm the best Juyan has to offer. Even if you do get Big Boss to help you, you won't get it as fast and as efficient as I could've done."
"Still, no." He steeled his expression as he shook his head. There was also the matter of Su Jianjun being interested in her. He couldn't afford to let the two spend time together. "Su Jianjun already knows you, anyway. It would be difficult to go undercover with your identity known."
Ying Yue raised a perfectly-shaped brow and crossed her arms over her chest. "CEO Fei, in case you aren't familiar with the spy business, I can actually use Su Jianjun to gain more information."
His lips thinned. "You said it earlier -- you don't know him that much. I doubt you'd be able to get anything off him."
"I may not know him that much, but I know him enough to have him call me on the phone last night." Ying Yue saw his expression get uglier with each passing second and she laughed lightly at him. She carefully placed her teacup on the kitchen counter and sidled up to Fei Huangjin to calm him down. He looked very royally pissed at that moment.
His mind was buzzing in confusion and turmoil. What did she mean by he called her on the phone last night? Did they know each other more than they both let on? "You two…" His jaw clenched and a vein throbbed on his temple. He had the urge to punch the wall, but Ying Yue was touching his hand gently at the moment, so he had no choice but to release his balled-up fists. Fei Huangjin's eyes narrowed into slits as he tried to read her. "Since when were you two close?"
"We're not," she insisted, smiling sweetly up at him.
"…"
Ying Yue knew he was at complete odds with her investigating the matter at Changsu, but instead of arguing, if she changed her tactics to a little cuddling… maybe that would change his mind. She inched even closer, raising up both arms to wrap her hands behind his neck. Without wearing heels, she only came up to his shoulder.
She leaned on to him, hiding a smile as she buried her face on to his chest. The familiar smell of her soap filled her nostrils, and she sunk even deeper into him.
Ying Yue could feel his body start to relax, the tension around his shoulders easing up. Fei Huangjin's hands soon landed on her waist, squeezing it gently. "Let me investigate it, please? I already know enough, anyway. And even if you stop me, I'll still be investigating it."
He sighed. "Ying Yue, you can't…"
She pulled back to look at him with a purposeful pout, looking up at him with puppy-dog eyes. She was really pulling all the big guns to get him to agree this time. "Why not? For your information, since becoming your secretary, I've always spied on the companies we had dealings with to secretly get you the information you want. It won't be any different."
Fei Huangjin squeezed her waist tighter. Damn it. She looked too… cute. How did he not know she had this side to her as well? However, he didn't want to change his mind. "I don't like it," he replied firmly.
He spoke with a kind of finality to his tone, making Ying Yue cock her head at him in curiosity. "Are you perhaps jealous of Su Jianjun knowing me?"
