Don't be mad, honey

Coldness with a dash of irritation briefly crossed his face. "Of course not," he denied. That man couldn't hold a candle next to him. In terms of looks, wealth, power, and intelligence -- he beat that lanky Su Jianjun in all those aspects.

She started to grin as she wrapped her arms tighter around him. "Reaaaaally?" she asked.

"Ying Yue, even if you ask me ten more times, I still won't let you investigate this matter. Okay?" He planted a chaste kiss on her forehead and slowly started to hug her tighter. It wasn't everyday that this woman initiated any form of affection. He'd take what he could get.

She allowed him to pull her closer. She could practically hear every beat of his heart. Come to think of it, she was just inches away from it, separated by some clothing, skin, muscle, and bones. "But I want to. Why won't you let me investigate this for you?"

Fei Huangjin sighed. "You're a stubborn one, aren't you?"

"Like you aren't?" She countered.

He couldn't help but feel that they were in quite an odd situation -- cuddling while arguing. Nevertheless, he didn't want to let go of her, and he brought his chin down to her temple to inhale the sweet smell of her hair. There goes that sweet comforting scent of lemons and sunshine.

"Huangjin."

"Hmm?"

A sly smile crept up on her face, which was immediately replaced with indifference. However, the shift in expressions was too quick for Fei Huangjin to notice. "You should go home. I have stuff to do." She casually shook him off and turned around to start washing up the cup she used.

The sudden abandonment left Fei Huangjin feeling cold, and his mood started to drop to the icy depths of hell as he stared at her back. Was she giving him the cold shoulder because he refused to give in? Was this what they called you'd be in the doghouse if you failed to please your wife? A stubborn look flashed on his face and he pursed his lips until he thought of something.

Didn't they also say that feeding your wife would lead to a happy life?

He took a step forward and wrapped his arms around her waist, lowering his head to her ear. His warm breath sent tingles up her spine, and the hairs on her arms stood up in anticipation. "Don't be mad, honey. I just want to keep you safe." Ying Yue finished washing up and pulled away from him, but he didn't let go, trapping her in between him and the kitchen sink. "You haven't eaten, right? How about I take you out for breakfast? We can get eggs benedict from La Fort and take a stroll around--"

"Stop it, Huangjin." She abruptly turned around and pushed him off with an angry glare, surprising him. "You go to Juyan and do what you have to do. Besides, I doubt you even know my favorite breakfast food."

"Of course I know, it's…" Honestly, he didn't know. He looked around her kitchen for any sign of food. There was nothing. Damn it, he was being defensive and he fell for her trap.

Ying Yue crossed her arms over her chest and looked him up and down to emphasize the angry mood she was showing. She pursed her lips to look even more serious. "See?" she scoffed. Since he wasn't supportive of her investigating Su Jianjun, she'd just kick him out for today so she can secretly investigate the matter without him whining and worrying. "Now leave. I don't want to see you for the rest of the weekend."

He pursed his lips in frustration. "Ying Yue, don't act like a brat."

"Oh you're calling me a brat now?" She raised a brow at him, challenging him to answer her. Of course she knew she was acting like a brat. Serves him right for refusing to let her take over the investigation. She was even being respectful by attempting to ask his permission for it. "Get out."

There was a slightly panicked look on the usual confident face of Fei Huangjin. He'd never been in this situation before. "Ying Yue, be reasonable."

"Get out," she repeated, louder this time. Then, she took up a mocking tone as she riled him up further. "Go have your breakfast at La Fort or whatever. Go to Juyan. But I don't want to see you until work on Monday, got that?"
