His lips thinned and his eyebrows sunk deeper the more she spoke. "Why don't we talk about this…"
Ying Yue cocked her head at him. "I don't want to talk to you anymore. Just go, Huangjin." She turned around to dismiss him, pursing her lips to control the smile that was threatening to break out. It felt good to show him who the actual boss in this relationship was.
Fei Huangjin sighed, running a hand through his hair in confusion and consternation. Where was that caring and cuddly woman just a few minutes ago?
He knew what she was upset about, but he couldn't afford to give in. He was at a loss on what to do.
She still had her back to him, showing no signs of forgiving him any time soon. Finally, Fei Huangjin decided to give up for now. He'd call Zhang Zihan later for help and make it up to her. Even if she said she didn't want to see him until Monday, surely, it wouldn't take that long, right? With a defeated look, he turned to the door and left.
Only then did Ying Yue allow herself to grin in self-satisfaction. Part of being a spy was knowing how to act well, make arguments, and turn bad situations into favorable ones. Unfortunately for Fei Huangjin, she was the best in all of that.
She flipped her hair off her shoulder and headed to her room, dialing Mo Yiling's number while she was at it. He answered on the second ring.
"Shadow fox…" Mo Yiling's lazy voice filtered through.
"Don't tell big boss I called."
"Oh…" He had stepped out to answer her call while a briefing with Big Boss and several others was going on. Through the door window, Mo Yiling glanced at the man she was referring to. "Hold on."
"Okay," she replied. Ying Yue strode inside her walk-in closet and pressed a few buttons on the side panel to convert it to her armory. She walked over to the spy gear, picking out things that she might need.
There was a sound of rustling, footsteps, and of a door closing before Mo Yiling's voice came back with the sound of brisk tapping on a keyboard. It seemed like he went off to his office. "This should be interesting. What is it?"
Ying Yue walked over to the other side, taking a gun and two knives, stuffing all of it into a duffel bag. "I need your help. I'm investigating someone named Su Jianjun."
Mo Yiling's fingers paused for a moment, his eyes narrowing at the name.
"I need a background check on the man. And I want to know where he is right now, his schedule for today and tomorrow, and the address of his house." She switched the armory back to her feminine closet, picking out a few outfits she could use this weekend.
If she went out to have dinner with Su Jianjun to gain the man's trust, she wondered if Fei Huangjin would find out about it. Hmm...
"Oooh. Doing dirty deeds, aren't we?" He chuckled. Ying Yue often called him secretly for help, and he humored her and did whatever she asked. "So what's the deal with this guy?"
His fingers flew across the keyboard, pulling up images, files, and articles related to the man. On the other screen, he had hacked in to the international satellite system, searching for Su Jianjun's possible locations and facial matches on surveillance videos.
Ying Yue had put her phone on speaker mode as she stood in front of the mirror, holding up a bright red, long summer dress and a short canary-yellow one. She needed something that caught attention, but also something that could hide a knife strapped to her thigh. "Word has it that he took over Changsu Shipping almost overnight. I'd like to investigate it." She set the yellow one aside and started putting on the red one. "Have you found him yet?"
Mo Yiling rubbed his chin and punched a few keys. "Surprisingly, not yet. But I've emailed you a copy of his file. And maybe you should know this: the man has an executive assistant by the name of Yan Shue. I've tracked him down to the pier. It seems he's attending a meeting in place of that Su Jianjun guy."
"Perfect," she smiled.
