It was two o'clock in the afternoon and Ying Yue was already getting tired. The lack of sleep was finally catching up to her, and she maneuvered the coffee maker at the staff break room with a lack of enthusiasm.
In a short while, the door to the break room opened. Heels clicked and stopped beside her. It was Yu Lingling, and she carefully eyed the diamond on Ying Yue's finger, the envy seeping into her core. Although the ring was beautiful, the diamond seemed a bit small, as if barely reaching a carat. "And here I thought CEO Fei would get you a diamond that was at least 2 or 3 carats. But then again, maybe he doesn't like you that much."
There was a teasing tone to the woman's voice as she stashed a pastry into the microwave.
"Go away," Ying Yue replied in a dull voice.
Seriously, how many women did she have to argue with today? First, there was Lin Wenshun in the morning, and now there was Yu Lingling in the afternoon. Should she expect another female to bare their claws at her tonight?
Yu Lingling scoffed and crossed her arms over her chest. "You don't own this break room. I have every right to be here as much as you do. Don't get too cocky just because you married the boss."
Ying Yue chose to ignore her. There was no point in making her understand that 'go away' didn't literally mean 'get out from the room.' It was too tiring to have to deal with stupid people.
The other woman found Ying Yue's silence as an act of surrender, and a smug smile appeared on her face. "See? You can't even refute me."
The coffee maker gurgled and sputtered out the last of the brew, and Ying Yue picked up the , pouring it into two mugs. By then, the microwave also dinged, and Yu Lingling pulled out the warmed cream pastry. Right then, an idea came to her.
She eyed the elegant red dress that Ying Yue was wearing, and just when Ying Yue turned to leave with a mug of coffee on each hand, Yu Lingling stepped in the way, dropping her cream pastry down the other woman's dress.
"Oh." She made an apologetic look, one hand coming up to cover her mouth in an act of surprise. "I'm sorry. You were in the way."
There was only a bored look on Ying Yue's face as she glanced at the dirtied part of her dress. It seemed like she really had to deal with this stupid woman. Her lips then thinned in exasperation as she thought about how much this dress had cost her when she bought it last month.
A fierce glint flashed in her eyes, and she stepped forward, pouring one steaming mug on Yu Lingling's chest.
There was a sharp, shrill scream that pierced the air, and Yu Lingling jumped up and down, trying to peel off her clothes from her skin. There were brown coffee stains over her pale blue shirt, and the hot fluid quickly seeped towards her skin. She continued to tug and loosen her clothes, and her eyes teared up from the burning sensation on her boobs.
To anyone else, she looked like a wet chicken that was about to get slaughtered.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Ying Yue mimicked her actions a while ago, placing the empty mug on the counter and lifting up her hand to her lips in mock surprise. "You were in the way."
Yu Lingling screamed and pointed a finger at her. "You bitch!!!"
"You should hurry up to the bathroom before I accidentally pour this one on you too." She lifted up the other mug she was holding and watched the woman's face turn from anger to horrification and eventually to panic.
She scuttled away to the rest room like a mouse.
Ying Yue strode in Fei Huangjin's office with a mug in hand, making the man smile. "Thank you, Mrs. Fei." She placed the mug on an empty spot on his desk, and when he picked it up, a frown wrinkled his forehead. "Why is this only half-filled?" He glanced at her and was immediately drawn to the large yellowish stain on her red dress. "And what happened to your dress?"
"I ran into a situation in the break room and ended up spilling my drink, so I drank half of yours because I really really needed some coffee." She flashed him a bright smile and did her best to look cute, with her eyes disappearing into thin slits and her nose wrinkling into a bud. "You don't mind, do you?"
He took a sip from the mug. Of course, he didn't. Not when his wife was smiling at him like that.
