It was Ying Yue who broke the tension with a light laugh. "I'm sorry Mr. Fei, I know I might sound absurd, but it sounded like you wanted to actually, really, be in a relationship with me."

"It is not absurd." He cocked his head to one side. "I find you smart and attractive, and trust me, I do not remember being attracted to anyone else."

Ying Yue's calm façade broke. She frowned, unable to understand what was going inside the brain of the great Fei Huangjin. She used to admire the man, but now she couldn't help wondering if the incident last night made him crazy. "Mr. Fei, I implore you not to make fun of me like this."
 
"I'm not joking."
 
"Yes, you are." She insisted.

"Go on a date with me."

"No."

"And call me Huangjin."

"I will not, Mr. Fei!" Her voice had already inched a notch higher. 

"Why not?"

My Wife is a Spy

The building was a sprawling, four-story complex that served as a satellite safe house for the Jade Circle. Normally, the place was quiet and peaceful, occasionally bearing laughter from its members as well as the raucous chatter of men who toyed with their guns. Sometimes, they also had their own prostitutes come by for some fun.


But today, there was the smell of assault and murder in the air, and the place was filled with the sounds of war. Gunshots were heard here and there outside the building as each side tried as much as they could to suppress the other.


"Boss, stay inside the car!" Guan Ting bellowed, ushering Fei Huangjin back inside. Unfortunately, the man resisted, proceeding instead to fire back at the ones assailing them.


To Guan Ting, he might be there out of his loyalty to his master, but to Fei Huangjin, he was there for his wife. And he had no time to sit around inside his car when his wife was in danger.


Fei Huangjin shot down three of the men from Jade Circle in rapid succession and took cover behind his car. A bullet punctured one of his Audi's wheels, and it deflated much like a balloon.


Amidst the scene, none noticed the pair of men who had arrived, seeking cover behind their car, one holding a firearm in both hands, and the other holding a laptop.


"Find me access to the building!" Big Boss hissed.


Mo Yiling got to work on his laptop, his eyes narrowed and focused, even as a bead of sweat flowed down his forehead. He was hacking into the building's surveillance system as fast as he could, and surveying every entrance and exit point. "The fire exit on this side of the complex only has three men guarding it. You can take them down and then we use the fire exit to get up to the top floor. That's where Wang Longwei is."


Xu Lin's mouth opened and closed. And then his eyes flitted uncomfortably to Wang Longwei. "Master…"


Wang Longwei frowned, recognizing the alarm in Xu Lin's eyes, and then he grabbed the tablet from his hands. His lips curled into a snarl as he swiped through the tablet. There was no trace of the girl, or Song Yinan, anywhere in his building. "AARGH!"


Anger filled his eyes as he threw the tablet forcefully to the ground, causing the screen to crack. He'd laid out all his cards on the table, and the girl was his ace to protect himself from Fei Huangjin. Without her… he wouldn't even survive the night.


"Search the entire building. The girl mustn't have gotten very far. And call Su Jianjun."


"Yes, master." Xu Lin got to work almost immediately, and just as he finished his call, gun shots broke out from outside the door.


Wang Longwei stood up and brandished his gun, cocking it ahead of time. Xu Lin did the same.


The door opened with a slam and Big Boss openly fired at Wang Longwei. However, the man was quicker than he expected, and he managed to duck behind his desk without a single graze or scratch on him.


Big Boss kept on firing at the desk, completely missing out on the fact that Xu Lin was at one side of the room, and the man pulled a trigger.


"ACK!" Big Boss fell to the ground as a bullet completely transected through his knee. He raised his gun towards Xu Lin, but the other man pointed his gun at Mo Yiling, who was just standing by the door with his laptop.


"Shoot me and I'll put a bullet in his head," he muttered.


With this, Big Boss stilled, and a stand-off ensued.


A barrage of footsteps followed through the office door, and more men from the Jade Circle filtered inside, pointing their guns at both Big Boss and Mo Yiling.


Wang Longwei's laughter then filled the room, his voice both teasing and annoying. For a moment there, he thought he'd lost his cards with the girl's escape. But with this man here, it might all still change.
