The master needs treatment

Ying Yue knew Big Boss always had a soft spot for her, and she took advantage of that by teasing him and annoying him often. She often made time to visit him even if she didn't have to, but lately, she'd hardly even made time to talk to the man.

The cool touch of his fingers made her close her eyes in pain. She missed her chance to tell him 'thank you,' that she appreciated his care and concern, that he was the closest thing to a father figure to her ever since her dad died. They say that regrets come last. And she found that to be the ugly truth.

What was even more bitter about this truth was that there was no way to bring the dead back to life. There was no way to apologize for her selfishness, and to make up for the lost time.

The longer she sat there with her hand over his fingers, the cooler they felt to her.

"Boss, we need to get you treated!"

As Guan Ting said those words, Fei Huangjin started to feel lightheaded. He'd lost quite a lot of blood earlier, and on top of that, the shot damaged his right lung, for sure. However, Fei Huangjin didn't want to go without Ying Yue, and he tried to stand his ground as his head lolled to her direction. Even staying awake was already a struggle on his part. "Yue…"

He called out to her with a voice so low and so quiet that she wasn't able to pick it up.

Guan Ting's lips thinned. His master was dying, and yet he was still too concerned for his wife. If love made people that stupid, he'd rather not love anyone at all! "Young madame." Still no response. "YOUNG MADAME!" He bellowed.

That seemed to have done the trick, as Ying Yue jerked and turned her head to his direction.

"The master needs treatment NOW. Pull yourself together. We have to go!"

His words seemed to wake her up from the trance-like state she was in, and she followed them out the building to a waiting helicopter.

Once inside it, she held Fei Huangjin's hand tightly and brought it to her cheek, hoping to make him feel better with her touch. She didn't have any tears left to shed. Her lips were pale and cracked, and the dried-up tear streaks on her face were proof of that. "I'm sorry, Huangjin," she croaked out. "I should've had more awareness. I should never have put you in danger."

"Mmm." He only replied with a sigh before weakly closing his eyes.

Worry coursed through her as she realized that his hand became limp, and it wasn't as warm as it usually was. In fact, it was ice-cool, and the pulse on his wrist was rapid, but weak and thready. "Huangjin?" She gripped his hand tightly. "Huangjin, keep awake!" There was still no movement from Huangjin, and so she flashed a look of panic and desperation at Guan Ting, who was sitting with the pilot up front. "Guan Ting! He's not responding!"

"Come out, Yinan."

Song Yinan had been crouching behind the bushes for far too long. It seemed like Ying Yue had been gone for an hour or more. He simply closed his eyes for a moment to rest, but now they were forced open by the sound of that voice.

"Jianjun?" He stood up carefully, massaging his slightly numb legs while he was at it. He looked around before stepping out of the spot he was hiding and he half-hugged Su Jianjun for a brief moment. "Why are you here? What happened? I don't-- I don't understand what's going on. All I remember is driving off to meet you and the next thing I know I was in that building. But Ying Yue was there, too, and she took me out of there…"

A helicopter flew by above them and they both looked up to observe it. One of them had a confused look on his face, and the other one was mildly amused.

"Where is she, then?" Su Jianjun smiled.

"She had to go back and--"

"Ying Yue is in that thing." Su Jianjun pointed up at the sky, chuckling. "It seems like she left you here."

Song Yinan froze, his eyes focusing back on the helicopter disappearing into the horizon. No, she said she'd come back, didn't she? He blinked a few times and then scanned their surroundings. There were no more men going around looking for them, and the air was silent, devoid of the abundant gunshots and sounds of war heard before.

Su Jianjun broke out into a fit of laughter, dimming the light in Song Yinan's eyes.

When Song Yinan had just been welcomed into the Song family, Su Jianjun had made a joke about Yinan's family probably dropping him off to abandon him. The man reacted with a tantrum, like it struck a nerve in him. That was how he found the man's weakness. And that was why he purposely goaded him with Ying Yue's current absence. "Let's go, Yinan. Come with me. There's no point waiting for someone who won't be coming back."
