Ying Yue sat on the corner of the hospital room, reading the e-mail sent to her from the Juyan legal team. Her eyebrows were curved down and her lips were turned up into a slight pout. Juyan's operations were suspended for the time until she would take over, as per Big Boss' instructions in his will.
He knew she had no plans of running that place, but he also knew she loved Juyan too much to leave it like that. How sneaky of him! It was like Big Boss was still haunting her from the other side!
As she scanned through the directions given to her -- come to Juyan, collect what was left to her by Big Boss, immerse herself into its operations, run the place, lead the projects and direct the people -- a few times she would think of calling up Mo Yiling to ask about what particular statements in the letter meant. And then she'd cringe when she realized she couldn't do that. It made the truth of the matter seem even more real.
Big Boss was gone.
Mo Yiling betrayed them, and was also gone.
And she had to run Juyan if she wanted to find her brother. Song Yinan had been missing since that day, and the Dragon Club didn't know where to look for a man they'd never even met. Her eyes narrowed slightly. She had a nagging suspicion that Su Jianjun was keeping her brother from her; but the question was: why, and what for?
Cheer up, Ying Yue. You can go through this. She lifted up a fist in the air, and she put on the most motivated look she could muster up.
Fei Huangjin took a glance at her from his bed, and a soft smile reached his lips. The tenderness in his eyes was plain for everyone to see.
As if she felt him staring, she turned to him with her eyebrows raised and then smiled back. It only made him smile even wider.
"Huangjin, what would you do if I resign from being your secretary?" She grinned so brightly that it looked almost blinding, but the shock and weight of the question threw him off so suddenly that he failed to conceal the look of panic on his face.
"Resign?" Even his voice sounded alarmed. "Why in the world would you resign? Do you want me to give you a raise? I can give you more days-off. Do you need an assistant, too? I can get one for you."
Ying Yue shook her head helplessly. "Juyan has been left to me..." She trailed off, looking at him pointedly. He was a smart man; she knew he'd understand the implications of her statement.
He'd heard about it right when he was shot, of course. But Fei Huangjin still seemed a bit surprised to hear it. Or rather, he was unused to the prospect of not being able to see her every day at his office. "I see…" He looked up and pondered about it for a moment. "Do you need to take over right away?"
"Well, the Juyan operations have been suspended until I take my place, so… I might have to resign as soon as possible."
Fei Huangjin looked away. "Well, I guess it can't be helped." He cleared his throat. "I'm not going to find anyone as good as you."
She cocked her head at him. When did this guy get such a sweet tongue?
There was a knock on the door and the doctor appeared, holding a clipboard in one arm. He looked from Fei Huangjin to Ying Yue and then gulped. He'd been called to the hospital administration and had been berated for refusing to allow the young madame of the Fei's to see a patient by the name of Xi Shenghui. He came to update her about his condition.
Fei Huangjin frowned. "Another examination? How many times do you have to visit me in a day? Are you incompetent? Do you still want your job?"
The doctor felt a chill on his spine. "Er-- ah--"
Ying Yue flashed Fei Huangjin a reprimanding look before nodding at the doctor. "Come in, doctor."
He looked grateful to be saved. "Young master Fei, young madame." He lowered his head respectfully and awkwardly approached Ying Yue, making her raise her eyebrows. "Young madame, I'm here to report on the status of Xi Shenghui. I apologize for my rudeness yesterday. Of course, you can visit him anytime."
"Oh?" She sat back with a confused look. And then her eyes shifted to Fei Huangjin, who was now rifling through some documents while he was in bed, pretending like he didn't hear anything the doctor said.
Her lips curved up into a smile. Did he do this for her? This jealous husband of hers would act so childish one second but secretly give in to her requests, after all!
