The audio-visual room which was rarely ever used in Juyan was abuzz. Almost everyone was gathered in the room -- from field spies to the technical department, and from the phoenix team to the maintenance staff. The people were all talking about the sudden deaths of the two biggest names in the agency: Mo Yiling and Xu Feng, whom everyone called Big Boss.
"They said they got killed when they got in between the Dragon Club and the Jade Circle."
"I don't believe that. It's too sudden, and Mo Yiling rarely got off his seat in the technical room."
"It's plausible, though. They always kept some stuff to themselves."
"Did you hear that Big Boss left the whole place to a woman?"
"A woman?"
"His daughter? Didn't he lose his daughter years ago?"
"Ssshh. It's starting."
The legal team representative up front tapped on the mic and warily glanced at the crowded room. The watch on his wrist showed that it was already one o'clock. The place was getting rowdier by the second. "Good afternoon, everyone. As you all know…" He briefly talked about the loss of Juyan's founder, and how it was such a tragic time for the agency. "…Fortunately, Big Boss has left specific instructions to leave Juyan in the hands of someone he treats like a daughter. Let us all be on our feet for the arrival of the new leader of Juyan."
A woman with straight black hair strode inside the room. She was wearing a suit and pants in the color of wine, which accentuated her curves and made her fair skin stand out. On her heels, was the captain of the Phoenix team, Xi Shenghui.
"Who is that?"
"She looks familiar, I think I've seen her around Juyan before…"
"Why is Captain Xi with her?"
Ying Yue stopped in the middle of the stage and was handed the microphone. Her bright eyes carried an air of intimidation as they scanned the room, effectively shutting the people up until what was left was pin-drop silence.
"Greetings. My name is Ying Yue." Her voice rang loud and clear, and it was soon followed by gasps and murmurs.
"Ying Yue-- the young madame of the Fei's?"
"Huh? What does she know about Juyan?"
"If she's the wife of Fei Huangjin, does that mean she's connected to the Dragon Club?"
"Most of you, I'm sure, are surprised why I am given this position. Well, I assure you, I know Juyan like the back of my hand." Her eyes narrowed slightly, and to everyone's surprise, an unmistakable smirk appeared on her lips. "You may not be familiar with my presence or with the way I look, but I'm sure you all are familiar with my work in Juyan."
There were even more murmurs in the room. Confused glances were directed at her. There was no Ying Yue employed in Juyan the last few years…
"Like a lot of you, I am a spy." She paused, waiting for their voices to quiet down. "You may have known me as shadow fox."
A stone-cold silence filled the room before it erupted into a variety of reactions. Some thought it was unbelievable, some were ecstatic that shadow fox's true identity had come to light, and some were uneasy.
This woman? This slender fragile-looking woman was the 'shadow fox' they all looked up to?
Xi Shenghui flashed Ying Yue a worried look. Did she really have to drop it on all of Juyan like a nuclear bomb?
He caught her eye and her lips curved upwards as she gave him a wink, before turning back to the crowd. "With that said, I will tell you this only once: If you have no plans of staying loyal to Juyan, to Big Boss, and now to me, please leave. I will not tolerate betrayal to the agency, and I will not keep people against their will if you don't believe in my capabilities. So, if you want to leave, leave now."
The audience grew still. It seemed like no one even dared to take a breath even with their chaotic thoughts.
"Well then, I look forward to working with all of you." Ying Yue grinned. If anyone dared to commit betrayal in Juyan, she'd personally put a dagger through their hearts.
