Such ugly flowers

"Come in," Ying Yue's voice rang loud and clear from inside the office. She expected it to be Xi Shenghui again, notifying her of some concerns raised by some of the agents, but to her surprise, the man who came in had dark hair and even darker eyes that were sharp and unyielding. "Huangjin!"

"Mmm." Seeing her behind a desk looking professionally put together was quite the view for him, and it gave him a sense of pride to see his wife like that. Unknowingly, a small smile appeared on his lips.

"What are you doing here?"

She began to stand up, but Fei Huangjin reached her side almost instantly, urging her to stay seated. "I'm here to pick up my wife."

"Huangjin…" She felt touched. She bit her lip. Ying Yue wanted to tell him that she still had a ton of stuff to do and that there were some policies she had to overhaul that would guarantee her working through the night; however, the eager look in his eyes was too much for her to bear.

She didn't want to disappoint him, or make him sad.

"Could you wait for a few more minutes? I just need to finish this."

Fei Huangjin didn't need to think about it. "Take your time. I can work on my phone." He proceeded to sit down and run through some documents there, but after a few minutes, his eyes travelled over to Ying Yue, observing her seriousness with her work. She was beautiful even when she was deadly focused on something. He then scanned the rest of the room.

The last time he was here, he was visiting a different person. The owner of the office had changed since then, but the décor and the contents looked exactly the same as before.

His eyes landed on a basket filled with various kinds of white flowers on one side of the room. It was filled to the brim and vehemently lacked color. It looked like the kind of flowers you would see on a person's funeral. He frowned. Who in the world would send his wife such flowers that were for mourning the dead? Come to think of it, where were the flowers he had Guan Ting send over? Surely it was far better than that one. She probably docked it somewhere in the building where everyone could see it.

"Such ugly flowers. Where's the one I sent you?" He raised a brow.

Ying Yue turned to him with a perplexed look. "Huh?"

"The flowers that I sent you. Where are they?" he repeated, before pointing at the funeral flowers in the room. "They certainly look better than that one, so why don't you throw that one away?"

Ying Yue's brows curved upwards. She didn't understand what he was saying. "Pardon?"

Fei Huangjin sighed. "I sent you flowers. So, where are they? Why is THAT ugly thing in your office instead of the one I sent you? And who dared to send you flowers that look like something picked up from a person's grave? I'll cut off their hand, whoever it may be!"

Her mouth formed an 'O' as she realized what he was talking about and then a beautiful smile bloomed on her face, as if what she was hearing was music to her ears. "Oh, dear husband, would you really cut off their hand, whoever it may be?"

"My dear wife, I wouldn't even hesitate to do so." He replied cockily.

With that, Ying Yue cocked her head to one side and propped both elbows up, putting her chin on her hands and staring at him sweetly. "Well then, hubby, would you cut off your own hand?"

"Why would I do that?" His eyes narrowed.

Ying Yue pursed her lips, trying hard not to laugh. "Gee, I don't know. Perhaps because it was my own dear husband who sent me flowers that look like they were picked up from a person's grave, and yet here he is threatening his own self."

Fei Huangjin was taken aback. His eyes turning to the flowers before facing Ying Yue again. "What? That's from me?"

She giggled while his face became red hot and furious.

GUAN TING, YOU IDIOT!!!
