Speak up

"What?" Guan Ting paused, unsure how to respond. His master had really done it this time. She didn't seem like she wanted to stay for a second longer to wait for him. But what could he do? He was Fei Huangjin's right hand man, but at the same time, he'd passed authority for Ying Yue to make use of him.

"You heard me." Ying Yue flipped her hair. She noticed him hesitate, and so she rolled her eyes at him before walking off to the exit.

He sighed and then followed.

Ying Yue immediately put on the car safety belt the moment she slid inside. "Take me to Sea View Horizon."

Guan Ting frowned as he started the car. "The apartment building?"

"Yes. I'll be staying there tonight." She didn't want to go to Majestic Gardens, at the place they called home. Neither did she want to see or talk with Fei Huangjin at the moment. It was a good thing she didn't give up the lease to her apartment yet. And she still had some of her things left in there.

Ying Yue looked out the window as he pulled out of the club carpark. The sky was dark, and there were no stars in sight. Even the moon was half covered in clouds. It looked a bit depressing, considering the present circumstances. The sight of stars would have at least brought her a tiny sliver of hope, but since there were none, it made her mood dim even further. It seemed like it was even going to rain tomorrow.

Guan Ting eyed her through the rear-view mirror. The car had been silent for a good ten minutes now. He thought he might have to contend with tears and ranting like most women would after seeing their husband in a club with another woman, but she seemed calm and collected. It was highly unusual.

But then again, didn't they say there was always a calm before the storm?

"If you have anything to say to me, speak up." Ying Yue turned her head to gaze at Guan Ting's reflection on the mirror. Her penetrating sharp eyes startled him slightly.

"Young madame," he cleared his throat and fixed his eyes on the road. "I'm sure the young master didn't touch that woman in the club…"

"So?" She looked outside the window again.

"So…" Guan Ting's lips thinned. He was being bold to defend his master. Fei Huangjin should really raise his salary for this. "With all due respect, I don't think you should be that mad at him, young madame."

Ying Yue sighed, as if she was bored and uninterested. "I don't recall asking for your opinion."

Guan Ting wanted to bang his head on the steering wheel. He didn't think it was this hard to talk to her.

"And the woman is less than half of the issue." Her lips twisted upwards into a pout, almost seeming like one could hang a teapot on it. "He didn't tell me where he was going, only saying that he'd be seeing CEO Zhang and CEO Xiao 'somewhere private.' VX is hardly anywhere private, wouldn't you agree?"

He uneasily nodded.

"He lied to me, and what's more -- he had some girl all over him. Even if he ignored her, I'm sure you know your master doesn't like women hanging on to him. And normally, as long as she isn't influential, he'd have kicked her out for being too aggressive." She left it at that and let it sink in to his thoughts. Ying Yue was sure Guan Ting knew Fei Huangjin very well.

And he did. Guan Ting grew sheepish the more he thought about it. Ahh, boss, I already tried helping you out by talking to your wife. But I can't help it -- you were really the one in the wrong this time.

***

Fei Huangjin's head started to ache as he scanned the crowd around him. There was no sign of Ying Yue -- or Guan Ting, for that matter. Had they left?

F*ck!

He tried to dial Ying Yue's number, but it was unavailable. Guan Ting's, too. He became more and more furious as the seconds ticked by. And since he didn't know what else to do, he strode over to the bar and banged his fist on the table, making the bartender jump. "Get me the manager."

"Ah, yes, right away, sir."

Not a minute later, the manager came running to the bar, lowering his head when he reached Fei Huangjin's side. "CEO Fei, what can I do for--"

"How much is this wretched club?" His eyes gleamed with fury and the temperature around him dropped.

"Sir?" The manager was dumbfounded.

"Because of this club, my wife is gone and unhappy. I'll buy it and ruin in it. How does that sound?" Fei Huangjin leaned against the countertop and trained his cold, black, eyes at the man before him. "Or I could just bankrupt this place in three days' time. Take your pick."
