What is your status?

"What's the status?" Ying Yue narrowed her eyes at the screen, the half-eaten cup of instant noodles laid forgotten. The spy they sent had been inside the facility for almost two hours. It was an energy plant rumored to be hiding an illegal cocaine lab in the basement, so getting evidence of the existence of the lab shouldn't have taken long -- unless their spy was caught.

But Juyan's spies hardly ever got caught.

"All stations are secured. Our man is still in the basement." The team leader walked around to each station, assessing their work.

Ying Yue became uneasy. She'd always been out on the field as a spy, so staying in Juyan and becoming the strategist behind these operations was sort of new to her. Was it always this quiet behind the scenes? Her mind briefly flitted to thoughts of Mo Yiling and Big Boss, taking charge of all her operations, and their banter with her through her earpiece.

No, it shouldn't be this quiet.

Suddenly, one of the tech team staff rolled his seat back and shook off his headset in alarm. "I've lost contact!"

"What?" The team leader rushed to that station, as did Ying Yue, and he shifted the communicator to speaker mode for Ying Yue to hear. There was only static on the other end. "White tiger! What is your status? White tiger, can you hear me?"

Again, only static was coming in.

Ying Yue scanned the large screen in front. Their satellite feed of the facility was unremarkable. There were no signs of sudden heightened security around the place. "We've hacked into their system, right?"

"Yes boss!" answered one.

"But there are no surveillance cameras in the basement…" answered another.

The gears in her head started to turn. This didn't sound good. She should've made more preparations before sending a spy over to that place. Big Boss wouldn't have made a mistake as big as this. Ying Yue couldn't help feeling incompetent at that moment, and disappointment in herself threatened to swallow her whole. She bit her lip as she tapped a finger against her thigh. "Track him through the Juyan watch. Does he wear the updated version? I remember Mo Yiling said we can get the vital signs of the wearer through that. Tap into it. We need to know if he's alive, at least."

The men around her got to work.

Please, please, just let him be alive. She swallowed the hard lump in her throat and shook her head, hoping to shake off the negativity along with it. The air in the tech room became serious and somber. Everyone was watching the monitors closely for any sign of their spy. "Who's tracking the back-up spy?" she asked out loud.

One man raised his hand.

"Is he alright?"

"He is."

"Good. Ask him about the situation there. And tell him, that if white tiger doesn't come out in the next half an hour, he has to evacuate the area as soon as possible." Ying Yue could feel a headache threatening to explode in her brain. They'll keep tracking the main spy, of course. But saving one of them was better than saving none, so she had to pull the other one out if the situation was as dire as it seemed right now.

She had only managed to exhale when the man monitoring the back-up spy stood up in alarm. "I've lost contact, too!"

"What?" Ying Yue's eyes widened as the room became filled with worried murmurs. She was on the verge of panicking, but she knew she had to appear otherwise. "He was stationed outside, wasn't he? I need a satellite visual of the back-up spy right now!"
