Ying Yue had entered the door at the end of the hallway where that female personnel came through. And to her surprise, it wasn't the underground illegal drug laboratory that it was rumored to be.
It contained underground generators that fed on underground geothermal energy, channeling it into electricity that was supplied from the facility above ground. Other than the maintenance engineers doing their work, there was barely anyone there, much less anyone mass producing drugs.
She took enough photos and videos to document the place and hurriedly slipped out, leaving the identification card and keys in the locker room where she passed.
But something was strange here…
She frowned, hurriedly slipping back to the hallway.
For one, it wasn't very hard for her to slip inside the facility and access the basement, so how in the world did two of her agents disappear? Where they simply just careless? But that couldn't be it. One of them could have been careless but for both of the agents she sent to get compromised, there was something very suspicious about this whole thing.
"Who's that woman?" The security team manning the surveillance spotted Ying Yue through the screen monitor, walking like she'd been there many times before. However, he couldn't recall a female guard assigned to roam the basement tonight. He elbowed the man beside him. "Hey, is that the one the master's expecting?"
The other security personnel glanced briefly at the screen monitor with narrowed eyes and went back to eating. "Idiot. That's Tingting. She'd doing overtime."
Ying Yue was nearing the elevators now, still with her head down and strides confident, but the other man wasn't convinced. He kept his eyes glued on the screen, looking unconvinced. "No, that's not Tingting. Tingting doesn't wear gloves."
The woman slipped into the elevator.
"Call the master. Now!"
"What?"
The man reached for the phone and dialed Song Yinan's office immediately. And when the call was picked up, he spilled everything immediately. "Sir, she's here!"
"Good." The voice on the other end sounded bored yet eerie at the same time. "Sound the alarms."
"Yes, sir!" He put down the phone and reached for the alarm switch immediately.
Click.
WEEEE-WOOO! WEEEE-WOOO! WEEEE-WOOO!
The sound of the alarms blaring through the speakers in the facility alerted everyone of a breach in their security, and Fei Huangjin, who was eyeing the situation from afar, froze.
No. Ying Yue was still inside.
He stood up abruptly, shaking off his camouflage and tapping at his earpiece as he jogged to the fence where Ying Yue slipped through earlier. "Hey, I'm going in to the sh*thole, now."
Xi Shenghui's eyes widened. "Red dragon, stand down! I repeat, STAND DOWN. Wait two more minutes before going in. It's not time yet! You might compromise whatever progress shes had in there!"
Fei Huangjin gritted his teeth and bent down to crawl through the fence. "I can't do that. If we wait two more minutes, she might be dead!"
"For heaven's sake, have some faith in her. And you might get captured in the middle of their full alert!"
"I can't wait around and do nothing."
He snuck into the facility just as a different set of fully-armed security personnel started roving outside. The sight of this through the Juyan satellite system made Xi Shenghui flinch and shake his head.
When Ying Yue stepped out of the elevator and was about to find her way out, it was then that the alarms started blaring around her. Her eyes widened slightly, and then she hurried to the nearest exit before the security team was able to find her.
The door was locked, so she went to the next best exit – the window.
It wasn't until she got outside that her earpiece started flickering back to life, and Xi Shenghui's voice filled her ear. "Damn it!"
"Shenghui?" Ying Yue frowned as she made her way to the gap in the fence where she had come in. "What's wrong?"
