Final Destination

Walking towards the tree line, Karma and Cayden looked at each other. 'We must be weary of the wolves we meet. It's said most rouges come here.'

Karma now doubted that she would be in much trouble. But she didn't voice her opinion, she just simply nodded. Walking into the fence line they smelled different smells, there were seven other wolves nearby. One, caught her attention.

It was him, the wolf she had talked to earlier that day. 'He's here.' Karma thought to herself.

Cayden morphed back and changed into his clothes. "We should be going if we want to meet my brother."

Karma morphed and changed into her clothes as well. "Ok."

"Your eyes are back to normal now."

"Hmm, thats strange."

Cayden tried talking to Karma but she was lost in her thoughts and only half answered him. "Karma!" She looked at him who was about seven feet away. "You have truly been here since we arrived. Where are you?"

She frowned, "Sorry, I have just been thinking."

"About?"

"Nothing important." She said with a slight, fake smile, and continued walking away.

"Karma. We are setting up camp here. Im not continuing with you truly being here."

Karma continued walking. Looking back only once, at his confused, hurt face. 'Im sorry, but I need to do this.' Karma thought to herself.

"Karma?" He asked in a low, shocked voice. She only heard him because of her wolf hearing. Tears threatened to overflow onto her cheeks.

When she got out of his sight, she took her clothes off as tears were streaming down her face. Morphing she grabbed her clothes and ran. 'Im really, really sorry, Cayden. I need to do this tonight.' She thought, hoping she was still in his hearing range.

She continued to run as her wolf continued to have tears fly off her, as soon as they hit her cheek, as she ran. She didn't stop. She ran and ran, until she was out of breath. Once her normal wolf ran out of stamina, she morphed again, into her other wolf form, and she continued running.

*buddum, buddum, buddum* a wolf was running beside her. "Your going to kill yourself if you continue running at this pace!" Came the same voice from earlier.

Karma came skidding to a stop. "So its as i thought. You are a Prophecy wolf!" Karma barked.

"Yes. I admit, I did lie. But, I lied about nothing else," paused a moment then continued, "thats how i knew you were one."

"Your eyes are the same as mine."

"Yes, that is the only clear determination of a Prophecy wolf."

Karma sat, frustrated, confused, and a little scared. "I don't understand," she paused in thought "if these wolves are as important as you say, then why does no one know of them? And, if they are only born once every one thousand years. . ." She paused again, meeting his eyes, she continued "why are we both here?"

He sighed. "I cannot answer your second question. But, as for the first, no one knows because our ancestors before us never told anyone. We are left to figure it out ourself when we find the Prophecy Book."

"What is in this Prophecy Book, you speak of?"

"There are many forks in it, but our prophecy there is no fork. There is no second option, no way out, no change. Ours is set in stone. You just have to understand, that I don't know everything there is to know. Each wolf figures out something knew for themselves. Some write it down. Others don't, our lives will never have a normal."

Karma sighed. "Is there a way to not be a Prophecy wolf? A way to go back to normal?"

"Yes and no, you can choose to ignore your purpose, but your life will be lonely, frustrating, dangerous, and you will never be able to rest. My grandmother said it felt as if you had just killed your mate yourself. The grief, pain, and regret never leaves."

Karma sat down in confusion. "How am i supposed to take this all in?"

"Once you turn eighteen and meet you mate things will be a bit easier. Trust me." He gave a toothy smile.

"Have you met yours?"

"Yes, but she isn't eighteen yet and is off running with my brother." He said in a disappointed tone.

"What happens if she chooses him over you?"

He looked down at her. "I don't think thats possible. They don't match, they aren't the same."

Karma heard Cayden howl. "I have to go. Can we meet tomorrow?"

"Yes." He smiled.

Karma got off and headed for the woods.
