On their way to Mrs. Lorella's house, they stay in the tree line. Out if sight. "Why didn't you mention anything about being one?" Karma asked

"It never came up." Lorella smiled her old wrinkly smile.

"Where is your mate?" Asher asked.

"Asher, dont being up, possible, painful memories." Karma scolded.

"It is fine dear, I left his territory and he decided to stay. So, we parted ways. I told him that I wasn't going to stay in one place forever, and he understood. On the other hand, he was raised in that territory. Same pack house and everything.

"He never planned to leave, and i never planned to go back."

"Was it as painful as the stories say?" Karma asked curiously.

"No..." she let her sentence trail.

"It wasn-" karma began asking before being interrupted.

"The stories will never being to explain the pain you feel." Karma looked at Asher, then to the ground. "We are here, we must run so we aren't seen." They ran out of the tree line and made it to Lorella's house, fairly fast.

When they walked in, Lorella went straight for a book. Pickling up the book she turned to Karma and handed it to her.

Karma stared at it. "What is it?"

"Passed down many generations in his bloodline, my family stole it as a way of telling his family not to mess with them. His family tried to get it back..." she paused "but, failed, miserably. So, its been in my generation for some time now. It has most of the answers your looking for. All except one. And that why there's two, when there should only be one."

Karma already knew that only one of them should be alive. Karma opened it, but Lorella forced it closed. "Now is not the time, dear. If you are opening it now, i must ask you to leave my property."

Karma looked at Asher and they stared at each other for a little while. "May we have some clothes?"

"I will lend you some, and a backpack. But, you must buy your own and return mine."

Karma nodded, "I will go shopping."

She took the clothes from Lorella and began changing. Asher stopped her, "Are you sure?"

"I am more use to humans than you are." Asher knew she was right and let her continue.

"You will stay the night?"

"We really must be—" Asher began but Karma stopped him.

"There is no way she wont talk us into it." Karma looked at Lorella and chuckled. "Yes, we will stay a night."

"We leave at dawn." Asher added

"Please, stay for breakfast."

"Why don't you come with us?" Asher gave Karma a sharp eye, she let herself growl at him.

"Not here. I couldn't anyway, shifting that much takes a lot of energy. And frankly, I don't have that much energy."

Karma nodded. "I will go shopping tonight."

Asher still didn't like the idea of her going out. She knew he wouldn't let her if he knew what her and Cayden had to go through. Her heart hurt at the memory of Cayden. His eyes shifted to her. He grabbed her hand and gave it a little squeeze.

"Im going to go get ready to leave now."

"Karma, why don't—"

"No, Asher, its fine."

Asher sat down in a puff of regret. Karma headed for the door, Asher wanted to stop her, he wanted to be next to her. But, he knew this needed to be done. "She will be fine, boy."

"Your so sure?"

"Yes."

Karma grabbed everything they would need and headed to pay, she gave the collector the money. "Do I know you?"

Karma recognized the voice, he was from the big party. "I don't think so."

"I think I do. You were that big—"

Karma gave him a low, dangerous growl. "Don't." She growled before grabbing her things and heading for the door.

She rushed back to Lorella's, avoiding any possible memory of Cayden. Asher was outside waiting for her. He was still naked. "Asher?! Why are you outside naked?"

He suddenly blushed. In the forest it didn't matter if you were naked or not, it was a normal thing. They both went inside, Lorella had gone to sleep. "We will leave at dawn." He said.

"We leave after breakfast. Thats one less chase we have to make. It will shorten our trip."

Asher nodded his head. "We leave after breakfast."

Karma nodded her agreement. "When we go north, we will have to be careful about humans. Neither of us have been and if we aren't careful, we will be discovered." Karma told him.

"Im glad my mate knows about the human ways." Asher chuckled.

Karma handed him his clothes and placed the rest of the things in the backpack, then placed the backpack by the door.

Laying on the floor, she felt Asher come right behind her. He put his arm over her body and scooted her closer to him. His warmth was warmer than hers, but it felt nice. Her eyes became heavy and she drifted asleep.

Asher kissed her cheek before drifting to sleep himself.
