War Council

Chapter 2:

The map was spread across the long table and each chair around the table was acquired. There was utmost silence and Lucifer the king of all demons sat at the seat of Honor.

Murmuring and light laughter became the norm. Everyone congratulated each other for their efforts in war and were quite happy with the results. 'Rulers of the world' that phrase puts a smile to their face no matter how many times it is spoken.

Their personal discussion was interrupted when Lucifer addressed, "We have won the war."

"Yeah!" Screams of joy and excitement filled the room, everyone cheered except for Bollocks and Lucifer.

In the heated moment of the cheers, they failed to notice the frown that hung on Lucifer's face.

"I hope everyone is happy about our victory."

"Yes, we are." One of the councilmen answered.

"If that is the case then you must have a plan right---" He tried to remember the name of the Councilman who just spoke.

"Councilman Omar." Bollocks added helping Lucifer.

"Right councilman Omar?"

No one understood the meaning of this and cluelessly stared at each other.

In their eyes, they have just won the war. Lucifer should be praising them but he wasn't.

If events went according to the norms then they should have been out having parties, eating exquisite food and drinking barrels of alcohol but there wasn't any preparation for that. Instead, they were invited to the King's tent trying to grasp what happened.

"What is wrong My King? Is there something that has offended you?" Another councilman spoke.

"Yes, there is."

"Eh!" upon his answers they exclaimed in unison.

"What is it, my lord?"

Instead of answering them directly, Lucifer stalled and said, "Before anything, I would like to congratulate all of you for your services."

Upon his gesture, women holding golden wine vessels came inside the tent. Each one of these women would be considered a beauty and if they weren't inside the king's tent then each councilman would employ their 'services'.

The women poured wine into the glass for each individual and just as they entered, they left upon Lucifer's hand gesture.

"Please enjoy." He raised his cup to salute each of them.

The councilmen were confused but still followed him.

"Cheers." They announced and brought back the glass to the table.

The room was silent and no one touched their wine. Their eyes stuck at Lucifer searching for answers.

They did not understand Lucifer's foul mood and feared it. They silently discussed amongst each other but couldn't come to a conclusion.

"Aren't you going to drink?" Their attention was disturbed when Lucifer spoke.

Upon his question, the councilmen reacted as idiots.

"Don't worry they aren't poisoned," he said and drank his glass empty.

Reluctantly the councilmen drank the wine. Their tongue tingled with cold and sweet and soon their glasses were empty.

"Now that we are comfortable I want to ask each and every one of you, what is our plan?" He said in all seriousness.

No one understood his question but one of them replied, "Rule the world."

"Yes, Rule the world."

"That is exactly our plan."

Others soon followed his reply with nods and agreement.

It should have been no genius to figure out what their plans were after conquering the world but Lucifer's next question sent chills to their spines and confused their minds.

"And how do you plan to do that?"

"Well...."

Silently everyone lowered their heads and sneaked peeks at each other. Somehow they were unable to answer such a simple question. They had few answers ready but somehow knew that their answers will not satisfy lucifer.

"So you planned to conquer the world, defeat all the enemies and then sit silently." the signs of disappointment started to show in his face. His job as the world conquerer was now over but as a world ruler, it was hard to say.

Lucifer cursed his Previous self for celebrating the victory now that the light was upon the true problem.

When none of the councilmen answered he turned to his right and asked Bollock, "Bollocks as a man with knowledge of war and battles how do you think people will react to the current situation."

Everyone's eyes shifted towards Bollock. It made him uncomfortable but he still answered gracefully.

"My lord I think that there is a chance of civil war and peasant uprising. We might also see some religious leaders inspiring people to revolt against us."

"Is there anything that we can do about it?"

"I am sorry but I don't have any experience in that matter."

"You've done great." After praising him he asked again, "Now tell me how many enemies will we facing."

"I am not completely sure but there is a high chance that we might face an army of 30,000 peasants and the leftover soldiers in a week or two and the numbers will only increase day by day."

Everyone gasped in surprise with their eyes filled with terror. They understood what Lucifer was trying to tell them.

While they were contemplating how to react Lucifer asked Bollocks again, "How many soldiers do we have left?"

"15,000."

"And how many of them can fight?"

"3,000."

"How long will these 3000 people last."

"Against 30,000 peasants three days at their best."

The mood became heavy and no words were spoken for a while. When a reasonable amount of time passed Omar shouted, "I knew those human kingdoms surrendering was some kind of plot,"

Omar's body jiggled like jelly, he was a demon with the body of an obese person and blue skin. If one were to describe him in one word then that word would be, "TOAD."

"Weren't you the one who said we should except their surrenders and focus our forces at war."

The person blaming Omar was Rava, he was the perfect contrast to Omar. Opposite to Omar Rava was thin and tall, he was red-skinned and had two bat-like wings protruding from his back. It was no surprise that he and Omar did not get along well.

"At that time it was the best solution for us." Omar justified himself with a loud voice.

"It is the fault of the Councilmen Rayes that we lost so many soldiers in the first place, I told him already that attacking holy kingdoms capital was a bad move but no one listened." He tried to shift the blame onto others which were quickly countered.

"Don't shift the blame on me, Omar," Rayes confronted, "You were the one who sent most of our army to the battle. I told you that we should have some reserve force but you wanted to win as fast as we can."

The room was heating up. Everyone tried to blame others for their actions and like wildfire, it only grew larger and larger.

From the third person's eyes, the scene did not resemble a meeting of a council room but instead reminded them of the childish quarrels.

When the decorum of the council room was tarnished, Bollock couldn't handle himself, he unsheathed his sword and with a large swing, the table split into two.

Everyone's glared Bollock but when they noticed Lucifer was silent they understood that this was all planned and quietly took the appropriate seats.

"I shall not allow my name written in history as the king who conquered the world but failed to maintain his kingdom and lost his throne in a few weeks."

The Councilmen understood their stupidity and remained silent.

"I want everyone to give me solutions for these situations. First I want every one of you to tell me what were your plans for the future. I don't care how stupid or irrelevant they are, just tell them to me."

He began with Councilman Rava.

"My plan was to own the Holy kingdom and rule over it... As a nobleman." He added the last part in a hurry.

"I wanted to create a harem with people of the Jinn empire." Rayes's words were responded with disgusted looks.

"I wanted to create a human farm and produce high-quality meat from their children." The one who spoke this was Omar.

Omar came from a lineage of demons that were immune to the poisons of human flesh, and he held pride in his biological superiority over others which caused some to disgust him while others praised him.

After listening to everyone's wish Lucifer shifted towards Bollocks.

"I still want to serve you as your servant, my lord."

"I understand, now here is my plan for the current situation and if you have anything helpful or find any drawbacks in my plan then feel free to correct me," Ha said while leaning forward.
