Chapter 11 -The Devil’s Puppet

"What did you just say to me?" Khar asks angrily

"I can't be in your life anymore Khar I'm sorry" I turn away from him and head for the door to his apartment

"You think im stupid enough to believe that you really would walk out of my life willingly? I know you said you can't tell me what's going on with you but I know someone is threatening you and got you so damn scared that you feel like you have to leave us"

I shake my head and start to respond before he cuts me off

"Alena im not done talking, remember when I said you are a big part of my life and from that moment I swore to always protect you. I'm asking you to trust me please" he begs grabbing my face.

I touch his hands on my face and do the thing I will regret for the rest of my life

"That is what I have my boyfriend for. I said I need space so give me my damn space. Now back the hell off and do us both a favor and move on" I yell out. His eyes shade the color of pain .

I'm straining my tears so hard I had to turn away from him and rush out the door.

This was the only way he would let me go. I can't risk putting them in danger anymore. I have to leave this town for good. I thought loosing my family shattered my heart but this moment felt like every organ in my body has shut down.

I arrive back at the penthouse and I can hear Margo and Zain arguing at each other. As I walk in the door I notice Margo pacing back and forth on the phone

"Yes PaPa!" She says glaring at Zain. He notices me walking in and rushes to my side.

"We got your text babe, I'm going to kill that son of a bitch Gabriel!" Zain screams

Margo puts the phone on speaker.

"Alena" the familiar voice of my mentor.

"Kygen, its so good to hear your voice. I take Margo filled you in on everything" I glare at her as she whispers "sorry"

"Mercury Corp is one of the most vicious operations in the country. They are focusing on one thing Alena. Destroying you. Remember everything I taught you. Don't trust anyone. Show no weakness. You will survive this battle"

I look down at the phone in Margo's hand and sigh " I know what to do Kygan. Thank you for saving me, protecting me and teaching me everything you know. I'm the fighter I am today because of you. But trust me I got it from here"

Zain looks at me proud and rubs my shoulder

"You three protect each other. I will be checking in" Kygan says before hanging up. He's naturally rude like that. He's not the type to say bye before ending calls.

We all start packing out stuff before Gabriel's assholes decide to try come storming in here. A step closer to my personal hell

Back at Mercury Corp, we end up back on the roof as the helicopter descends. Gabriel and Zain meeting for the first time was agony. Zain almost got himself killed twice trying to fight Gabriel for attempting to touch my hand.

They argued the whole ride here giving all of us a damn headache. I show the security at the entrance my badge as they separate, allowing access. We all take the awkward ride once again to Mercury's floor

Before I can get off the elevator, his assistant rushes to my side handing me a large tablet with a older man's profile on the screen.

Gabriel puts his hand on my back guiding me into the control center. Everyone is caught up in their work. Zain clears his throat, clearly irritated with Gabriel's hand on me. So am I

"Your first target Fields. Berkley Owens, 58, owner of Aura Botics. He made an attempt to take down our cooperation a few months ago"

Gabriel stops us in the center pointing at the screens on the wall as my target's information pops up

"We have word he's back in town only for tonight, we been trying to track him down for months and finally got word of his return. Only problem is we need to find his location tonight. He must have disabled his phone to shield his location.

"Oh my god you all are pathetic" Margo sighs as she walks over to the computer stations.

"Get up, you clearly don't know what your doing" She says to one of the hackers.

"Do what she ways" Gabriel demands

The woman moves out her way as Margo takes over and starts typing away on the keyboard.

She pulls up a picture of Berkeley Owens and smiles making a discovery. We all watch her do her magic as she brings the picture to every screen

"Let me say first, you got the most amateur hackers working for you. I never seen such dumbasses in my life. I actually feel sorry for you. No wonder you need us" She laughs, looking at Gabriel.

His team feeling offended as he continues to glare

"Enough, what do you got for me Vontez?"

She points at the screen to Berkley Owens picture "He has an applewatch. Phone's are not the only thing you can track"

She pulls up another screen. Typing in weird symbols into a passcode verification. Suddenly a new screen pops up with a map. A red dot starts blinking.

"He's located in a small complex on the edge of downtown. And there you have it people. I could've done that with my eyes closed. I managed to find this man's location in 3 minutes and you all couldn't do it in one day. You need to let me run this place. These people couldn't even hack an Instagram profile. I'm embarrassed for you dude"

Zain smiles proudly as do I. That's my girl. I notice Vick staring at her impressed. Why is he suddenly amused.

"Done" Gabriel says smiling

We all look at him confused

"Margo your head of this department starting today. Run this team and train them. I want a full report on their progress by the end of the week. You will guide Alena through her mission. I got you two new Bluetooth headsets to communicate"

Margo smiles happily as if she just got promoted or something. His team sighs in frustration.

He turns to me "Fields go prep for you mission; Vick will be ready to transport you the location sight to take out your target"

I end up back in my white walled room pacing back in forth. Nervous. He's really going to have me kill again . I can't take this.

The door slide open as Gabriel walks in with a sniper. My eyes fall on the gun in his hands as he hands it to me. I grab it and place it on my bed not wanting to give him my reaction.

"You were born for this Alena. Don't fight it. Remember that girl that wanted to tear me to shreds in that gym. That rage. That's who we need out on the force. We need that girl tonight. Don't disappoint me"

"I won't" I assure him. Trying to hold back my fear

He smiles and leans down close to my face. I fall onto the bed trying to move away from his touch

"Can we please be professional"

He shrugs "Your no fun"

I stand back up and slip from around him "Can I see my dad before I go"

He shakes his head " Complete the mission and you get to see him as your reward. He won't be harmed you have my word"

"Thank You"

He smiles as he slides his fingers through my hair

"Just do your job and don't fail me Agent Fields"

Suddenly Gabriel is pushed against the wall by Zain. Here we go again

"I told you to stop fucking touching my girl!"

Gabriel looks at him smirking, but this look is evil. No humor behind it. Not taking any chances I pry Zain off of him.

"Next time he won't live Alena" Gabriel says walking off. I know he's serious. I wish Zain would stop taking this as a damn game

"What's going on?" Margo rushes in.

"Your bother is going to get himself killed" I yell

"You think im going to sit here and watch as he flirts with you?"

He's really pissing me off

"This man has my father!! I'm not stupid. I'm not going to let this man take advantage of me. Now stop creating problems. I can't focus on saving my father if I have to worry about saving your fucking life every second. This is why I didn't want to start relationships"

He looks at me in disbelief and tries to hold my hand but I snatch it away

"Babe im sorry"

"Please just go"

He nods and kisses my forehead "Im sorry. I hope you forgive me"

Margo gives him the ooooo look as he walks out the room. She looks at me and shakes her head

"Alena look I know my brother is an ass but you had no right to treat him like that. He's just protecting you"

I look at her stunned "Oh your okay with your brother risking his life over jealousy"

"This isn't about Zain's jealousy you know that. You know It's about Khar. He texted me what happened between you two yesterday. You ended your friendship and now your taking it out on my brother" She says folding her arms

"Wait you two are texting?"

She nods and shrugs "Yes we text and talk over the phone. He's my friend now too, well before you stupidly broke his heart over this damn place"

I don't know why I instantly became so angry but I practically yelled in her face

"I did what I had to do to protect him from this damn place! With you communicating with him is putting him in the danger I'm trying to keep him away from. Gabriel watches everything we do. I won't let you put him at risk. All of a sudden you want to be in his life because you fake kissed him. Please. He's a nice person Margo. Don't take advantage of him. He's safe without you and me!"

She looks at me in shock.

"Wow. Just wow. He was only good enough to be your friend. I get it. Well guess what you're a dumb bitch. Gabriel already knows about him so why hurt him for nothing. All we have to do is protect him by doing what we have to do here and fulfill our jobs. I'm not the one stupid to not understand what feelings are. I'm not in love with two men and can't make up my fucking mind"

"I'm not in love with your brother and im not in love with Khar"

She laughs and starts walking out the door "Whatever keep telling yourself that. The look you give my brother is love but the way you look at Khar is on another level. You're in love with him. But guess what, I might be capable of loving him too"
