Jason finished cooking and laid out all of the cooked rabbit meat for the wolves. Then walked to Jeffery who was waiting patiently and handed him his extra large amount of meat, for his payment. Jeffery gave Jason a grunt of thanks and without wasting any time went to devour the food.
Jason grabbed his share of meat and started to eat it under a tree next to the river. Most of the wolves were surrounding the campfire that Jason used but since Jason was father away from them, he didn't pay much attention.
In Jason's vision was a river flowing through a forest. Its banks were a bit rocky and vegetation surrounded it on both sides but the sun was starting to dip down again and Jason relaxed his body.
Jason reveled in the peace of nature, and just sat there watching the river flow down into god knows where. Jason was reminded of the riverbank that he had often sat by to relax in this world. Well, he had only sat by it twice but it already felt like an important place after viewing the in-game one. Jason looked up into the sky a red glow was slowly covering the entire sky and small bright lights could be barely made out. Jason thought to himself that he could look at that view forever. And sat just watching nature for a long period of time. The sun started to set and Jason along with his food started to get cold, so grabbing his food he walked back to the campfire that was still roaring with the addition of new wood that the wolves were providing.
Jason sat down next to them and continued to eat. The wolves were rolling around, some were still eating, others were playing around but all of them kept close to the fire making sure that the rest of the pack would be able to spot them wherever they went. Jason noticed this and Boops analyzed that it was probably because of the ambush they were still on guard and cautious.
Jason had started to get tired of eating rabbit meat, so he pulled out one of the nutritional bars that he had gotten from the convince store and started to eat it. The moment he opened it every single one of the wolves sniffed the air and turned to him. Jason didn't pay attention to them and started to eat vigorously under the watchful gaze of all of the wolves. Jason finished the bar and looked around at the hungry faces of the wolves.
He tried to resist but the faces were just too much so he opened another pack and started opening them to hand out. Most of the wolves had finished their food by now and they all lined up again to get whatever the hooman was eating.
Jason checked to make sure the bars didn't have chocolate because he wasn't sure if they could eat it. Boops confined it was only things like oats and nuts with some honey Jason felt like it was safe to start feeding them. He wasn't sure if they could eat chocolate but he wasn't going to take the risk.
The wolves ate the bars with a relish, it was like dessert to them, which they never had, and Jason thought judging from their expressions while eating the food that they never had eating something sweet before.
The wolves quieted down again but then Jason heard some of them starting to talk. The subject of the talk was naturally what they were going to do next. Jason and Boops were also worried the fact that a goblin mage went on the attack meant a few possibilities,
1. was that it was wandering around and they just happened to find them or
2. some higher ranking creature had ordered them to do it.
If option 2 was the correct answer then Jason and the rest of the pack had a problem on their hands. Jason couldn't even begin to imagine what creature would be able to make a goblin mage move from the monster bait and go on the offensive.
Jason held his head, a headache was coming to him after thinking about the big leader that he would probably have to eventually face. While he was cradling his head trying not to get annoyed at the pain in the butt leader he was going to face in the future the wolves conversations escalated into something much bigger. They now started to discuss heavily the future of the pack. The entire pack was involved in the conversation and Jason could already hear some wolves shouting.
Jason looked for the alpha and spotted him waiting at the edge of the circle for the pack to calm down. The thing was after listening to the pack's arguments he couldn't really understand what they wanted. From what he could tell though some of them wanted to keep living like how they did before traveling all around the forest killing wolves while others wanted to let go of the vengeance for survival.
Jason's brain started to churn,t his could be an opportunity but first, he needed to think things over. He needed to find a way to appease both sides of the arguing pack. Some wanted to continue down the path of revenge while others wanted survival. If he wanted to appease both sides he wanted to create a place where they could survive and easily take out their revenge on the goblins at the same time.
hmmmm what was the best solution Jason kept on thinking while Jason could hear Boops facepalming in his head. The alpha wolf stepped into the circle of wolves arguing at this time. His presence along silenced many of the wolves. In the few seconds that the alpha wolf took to walk to the center, the entire pack quieted down and watch him with earnest eyes. The alpha wolf stopped and looked at the pack with its eyes that seemed to reflect the light of the moon. He said quietly
"enough, we are one pack, and we shall not be separated in our time of trial"
The alpha wolf paced around the fire and faced the group of wolves that wanted to go on the path of revenge which mostly consisted of younger wolves. He looked at them all in the eye one at a time and said solely
"I know that your angry and want to take revenge, but your parents wouldn't want this and you know it their deepest and greatest wish for you all has been to live and again you also knew that, as a pack leader it's my responsibility to keep you all safe"
The group started to rustle after the alpha wolves reasoning and then the alpha wolf turned to the other side which was full of the older wolves. He then started talking again to them
"I know that you want to find a place to survive but currently we are basically on the run, that was the 3 ambush this week, it means that if we stay in one place we will be subject to even more attacks we have no more solutions except to keep on running and hope that we can survive, and it doesn't help that we have an obligation to eliminate every goblin that we come across."
The older wolves also nodded their heads. Boops whispered to Jason
'take notes Jason this is how a leader pacifies both groups with a single speech.'
Jason grabbed a notebook from his inventory and started to write. Whatever the alpha wolf was doing he was sure that it was important and he needed to learn it.
One of the older wolves then asked the alpha wolf
"then what are we going to do next? keep on running?"
The alpha wolf sighed and replied sadly
"We have no home, no family, and now no purpose what else can we do?"
Jason grinned when he heard that, it was his chance and he wasn't going to lose it. He started to walk into the center trying to get to where the alpha wolf was. Except that the pack was to compact and Jason couldn't get in no matter how hard he tried. It was like trying to go through a herd of cows. He spent a few minutes trying to get through the pack that was currently focusing ont he alpha wolf with all of their attention.
Jason finally managed to push through after squeezing through a small gap one of the wolfs created. Jason walked to the center of the pack at the small clearing where the alpha wolf was.
A few concerned voices warned him
"HOOMAN GET BACK CHEIF IS TELLING STUFF"
"Hooman you should get out of the way"
Jason ignored them and faced the alpha wolf and the pack. He tried to act cool but being put on the spot will all of them facing him his voice accidentally pitched and what he wanted to say sounded like a high pitched megaphone
"I HAVE A SOLUTION!"
