"The grey wolves were left alone, the only hope that we had left lay in the mystic wolves from the hidden forest. The thing was, there were only 15 of them and there were at least a thousand of grey wolves. The mystic wolves tried their best to defend against the goblin army, but there were just too many of them and they got overwhelmed, they fell and the grey wolves were left to fend for themselves."
The older wolf took a deep breathe and counties
"it was a massacre, wolves were killed every second, and the bodies eventually became a hill. Blood was the only thing that could be smelled. And even though the grey wolf warriors tried to fight, they couldn't most of them fell at that battle and the remnants were forced to retreat. They went back to the clan territory hoping that somehow, against all odds their family and loved ones were still alive."
The older wolf paused, he really didn't want to finish the story so he looked at Jason
"I'm sure you can figure out the rest of the story on your own if you don't know it already"
Jason nodded his head solely. Silence descended on the pack, but the alpha wolf walked out again.
"and so the remnant group of grey wolves went hunting under the leadership of that young wolf, they traveled for a long time, they lost some along the way, but eventually after hunting and seeking revenge for the longest time they wolves redeemed themselves and gave their loved ones a proper burial. But now the wolves don't have a purpose before they sought revenge but now that it was fulfilled they didn't know what to do."
The alpha wolf gave Jason a long look in the eye.
"and then a hooman came into the pack, he was a quiet boy but for some reason, the pack didn't attack him instantly like how they usually did. Instead, thanks to the boy's efforts he soon became a member of the pack and the pack treated him like so."
Jeffery was in the middle of the circle but Jason could easily hear him shouting
"THE HOOMAN GAVE GOOD FOOD AND PETS!"
One of the older wolf laughed a bit and added
"yes, and he even saved a few lives"
The alpha wolf continued
"and the hooman gave an offer to the pack, the pack with no meaning."
The story ended there and the alpha leader looked at Jason again
"so perhaps you can lead this broken pack on an adventure of a lifetime"
[alpha leader Adalwolf is offering you the co-pack leader position]
[do you accept?]
[yes/no]
[warning: as co-pack leader, you will have many responsibilities you must fulfill them otherwise there is a chance the pack will leave you]
[warning: if you say yes the entire pack will become you familiar except for the alpha wolf who will have equal standing in the pack with you.]
Jason looked at the entire pack and this time instead of weariness or any other type of emotion they were all smiling at him. Boops laughed and commented
"dang Jason, you only spent a few days in the pack but somehow you made them treat you like one of their own, and now they are even willing to accept you as one of their leaders... God darn it this is pissing me off. I can't believe it was this easy for you, haaaaaaa"
Jason smiled and responded to Boops
"haha I'm just lucky Boops, I needed so many things to make this workout like the title. And overall the wolves are just good wolves. I doubt I can find any other pack as good as them in the future,"
' well you're right about that'
The alpha wolf and rest were waiting patiently for Jason. Until Jeffery spoke up
"HOOMAN YOUR DECISION PLZ"
Jason looked at them and gave a small laugh
"I didn't even need to think about it, please take good care of me in the future" Jason then gave a small bow to the pack.
And the alpha wolf lead the entire pack to bow in a similar way
"likewise"
[congratulations a pack of wolves have become your direct subordinates]
[the pack includes 38 grey wolves which include 20 younger ones, 16 older ones, one hungry boi and one alpha wolf (co-leader of pack)]
[the pack of wolves has unlocked the ability to level up and gain skills!]
[you can now command the pack of wolves]
[note: you have a co-leader and the co-leader can also make decisions and commands, please coordinate with your co-leader!]
[pack loyalty: 92]
[pack average level: 40]
[congratulations you have recruited your first subordinates rewarding 1 gatcha ticket]
Jason looked at the ticket in disbelief
"no way, why is their a fricking gatcha in the system"
Boops answered like it was obvious
"it's like a staple in every system, heck it's like the unspoken rule to have one"
"okay fine, ill use it when I get back to reality."
'yeah, you have more important things to do'
Jason looked at the pack of wolves that were looking at curiously, now though a small amount of respect was in their eyes.
"Boops you have directions to the training center right?"
Boops replied proudly
'course, ill direct you'
Jason motioned to the pack to follow him, and they did. Jason realized that the pack was just diligently jogging behind him so he started to run. The rest of the pack followed their simple jog started to turn into an all-out dash. Jason was at the very front running as hard as he could.
Turns out he still couldn't beat the wolves in running and they soon passed him as they passed the 5-mile mark. Jason promised to himself later that he would definitely work on stamina after this. He stopped to catch his breath and the rest of the pack stopped to wait for him.
Jason got a bit embarrassed and started to run up to them. He expected some harsh criticism like "you're our leader you should be stronger than us!" or "we only serve the strong get out"
But instead he just got
"haha boss you need to work on your speed otherwise Jeffery will have to carry you on his back"
"OHH IM WILLING TO DO IT FOR SNAKOES"
"pfft Jeffrey, I doubt you can even support boss's weight"
"Yeah, boss we will train you to be the fastest hooman on the continent, no, world!"
"AT THE PRICE OF SNAKOES"
"mhm yeah I was about to do it for free, but Jeffreys right we might need some sort of payment *poor attempt at a wink* "
So Jason looked up, this time he wasn't worried about anything. He could run and look up at the night sky while leading the pack again.
Jason unintentionally said his thoughts out loud
"huh, this is totally like the first run I did with you guys its dark and we're leaping over rocks jumping through trees and forests. I'm getting a rush of adrenaline already"
The alpha wolf increased his stride and bumped into him discontented.
"there's a huge difference hooman, look at us for real this time"
Jason turned his head slightly to look at the pack again. Instead of the solemn attitude they had when running before, Jason saw wolfish grins on all of their faces. Some were jumping into the air in happiness.
The alpha wolf started to talk while Jason looked around
"right now it's like we're finally going home after being gone for years. It may be weird to you but after being on the run for a few years hunting down goblins and living like your going to get ambushed any second hurts your mind."
The wolf nodded his head toward one of the younger wolves who Jason noticed had a few tears streaming down his face.
"We are tired, and now we have been offered a home. Perhaps you might never understand what emotions we feel, which is a good thing but just know, as the source of all of these emotions that a wolf fights to protect his home to the last breath."
The alpha wolf stopped running with Jason and started to slow down and enter the dense pack of wolves. The pack of wolves split to let the alpha wolf pass through until Jason couldn't see him.
Jason continued running with the pack close behind him. The sense of exploring and adventuring the unknown forest gave Jason a sense of joy and his cautious part of his brain was obliterated at the thought of an entire pack of friendly wolves following him. In fact, Jason couldn't try and be cautious at this point. Before he felt like something was hitting his heart and now he felt like he was glowing.
One of the wolves started to howl, others picked it up, and eventually, 38 wolves were howling at the moon. No 39 pack members were howling at the moon now. Jason took a deep breath and smiled.
And the moon itself seemed to smile back.
