Jason flopped down on the dirt ground in exhaustion. He rolled up so that he could face the night sky.
The platoon members around him were preparing tents and setting up fires in a diligent manner. And the part that got Jason most annoyed was that none of them looked tired no a single on.
The platoon had journeyed through the endless plains as Jason learned their name later. It was just a really long stretch of plains that lead to Earl Grey's territory. It was nice geography for traveling but to Jason, he got quickly bored after seeing the same thing over and over again.
Apparently they were already a 4th of the way there. But to think that he would see 4 days of those grassy plains made Jason shiver. He better get a bunch of points in the defense of Earl Grey's territory.
Jason got up as he started to smell smoke and the familiar crackling noise of a cheery fire. Jason didn't know when maybe after the last barbeque that he and the rose knights had, but he was suddenly elected as the head chef.
Jason wasn't complaining he could get EXP for his cooking skill. But he felt that a certain loud wolf did something to give him the job.
Jason walked over to the middle of the camp. The camp was nestled in the plains. and you could easily see the location of the camp miles away thanks to the fires that lit up the surroundings and were like beacons for any other monsters.
Jason was a bit concerned about monsters attacking but a couple of rat monsters approached them once and Jason witnessed with his own eyes a red barrack member give a dark and threatening growl and a murderous glare at them and the rat monsters pivoted around on their hind legs and scurried off.
Jason decided to let go of his worries about monsters attacking at that moment and decided to focus on making food.
The middle of the camp had a large tent for the leaders and next to it was a large bonfire and a bunch of meat just sitting next to it. Jason saw beef, chicken, fish, and so many other things. He also saw starchy things like potatoes and some vegetables and fruits like carrots and apples.
Jason took in all of the ingredients and started to think about what he should make. Well, it didn't take long for him to figure out as Jeffery stood next to him drooling while looking at Jason with sad puppy eyes. Jeffery said in the most tenderst voice he could muster
"HOOMAN..... YOU'RE MAKING MEAT RIGHT?"
Jason sighed and said yes, making Jeffery's face light up in happiness, he then proceeded to jump around the campfire in joy. Jumping sometimes 6 meters into the air.
Jason pulled out a metal skewer from his inventory and started to put meat on it. He repeated the process with the rest of the skewers he had in his inventory until he had more than 30 uncooked metal skewers.
He then placed them all around the bonfire, making sure that each and everyone was in a prime position to be cooked. Then he sat on the ground and rotated them occasionally. It took a bit of time to cook meat on a fire, so Jason had time to think. Though it was a bit hard to think when a Jeffery was jumping around in glee.
Jason sat back and thought about random things such as if a Polar Bear and a Grizzly Bear mated their offspring would be called a Pizzy Bear
Yeah, Jason had no idea where his brain was leading him. Thankfully Boops asked Jason a serious question.
'bro, you have a few monster cores and the method to make them into golems you have any ideas what you want your first golem to be like?.'
Jason sat up and straightened his back, which was a bad idea since he instantly got blasted by the smoke from the fire. He coughed and tried to wave his hands in front of him while moving out of the way.
Finally, when Jason had gotten himself out of the smoke's radius, he laid down, oh wait, he needed to rotate the metal skewers or else the meat would burn.
Jason sat down made sure that nothing catastrophic was going to happen and collapsed looking up into the sky.
Now he could think.
What did Jason want as his first golem?
Well, he had a few ideas
but if he could make and create his own golems then he should make them useful first right?
Jason's first thought was giant mechs. Sadly he already knew that wasn't going to work and Boops confirmed it saying that they needed a much bigger and higher quality core to do that.
Jason then thought about more large and cool things but Boops answered with the same response.
Jason thought about it some more, but he really could figure out what he could do with the core, of course, he could create a regular golem, but he wanted to make the most of it not just make a simple and normal one.
That's when it hit Jason. He quickly said to Boops in excitement
"A BIRD"
Boops answered in even more confusion
'a what? you want a fricking bird as your first golem?'
Jason nodded his head quickly
"heck yeah, you know how cool it is when a bird swoops from the sky and lands on your shoulder. MHM it's fricking awesome"
Jason could hear the audible sound of a face palm but then he heard Boops talking to himself quietly
'I can't believe that he would choose a bir.... wait a second, that's like the best reconnaissance animal out there. OH MY GOSH JASON YOU"RE A GENIUS'
Jason proudly raised his head up with a smug smile on his face. Boops said to Jason
"alright, I'm going to plan things out for the golem. you'll have to make it since ya know I don't have a physical body, and that probably means you might need a skill. wait, don't scream you'll alert Jeffery. Okay, don't worry this one should be pretty attuned to you since you were a bit passionate about building stuff right?"
Jason nodded with his head filled with thoughts of the pain he was going to get when the skill was ingrained on his brain.
But he was soon shaken out of it when Jeffery called out to him
"HOOMAN MEAT IS HOT, BIG HOT, FIRE HOT BAD HOOMAN COME QUICK"
Jason quickly got up, after the few days he had spent with the wolves he was able to easily decode their language, basically. The meat was on fire. Jason leaped towards the meat skewers and placed them on a plate. They were a bit overcooked but they still looked delicious.
Jason quickly ran around the bonfire quickly picking up the hot metal skewers and putting them on plates.
In the end, Jason had more than 4 plates of skewers filled with cooked meat.
The smell of meat had started to attract more people, of course, the first people to arrive were the wolves drooling in a similar manner to Jeffery. Then the green barrack members then blue and red.
Jason quickly removed the skewers and placed the meat on a separate wooden plate. Thankfully they had packed up wooden plates or else they would be eating with their hands.
Boops had calculated that each of the barrack members and wolves would get about 2 pieces of meat. Thankfully the pieces of meat were more than enough and the mob happily surrounded Jason looking at the plates full of juicy meat.
Finally when Jason was done he raised his arms and the wolves were the first to run towards the plates. They didn't care about looking messy and quickly dug their entire mouths into it.
The rest of the barrack members followed suit, the green barrack members in the lead. Soon all of the plates were taken and all of the barrack members returned to their stations holding food and chatting happily.
Jason didn't even have time to use the other stuff. But whatever. He looked at his points log and realized that he had gotten a few hundred points just from making dinner.
Jason looked around one more time and saw the wolves almost dancing around the food. The green barrack members that were quietly eating. The red barrack members who were laughing and chatting with each other and the blue barrack members that were pouring over maps and the like while stuffing their faces.
The sudden thought hit Jason
"holy crap, the cooking skill is O.P in getting points isn't it"
And that was the moment when Jason realized the potential in the cooking skill.
Jason grinned evilly, he cracked his knuckles and cackled in glee as he thought about the points he would get from making food for the next 4 days.
