Regroup

A few hours later, Jason returned back to the main gate where the rest of the rose knights were re-grouping.

The red barrack members were burping in contentment, the blue barrack members were celebrating over the new books that they could add to their collections, and the green barrack members were quietly sharpening their weapons with the bright light of motivation in their eyes.

Charlie, Ardem, and Jitsuryoku were in the front talking about something and somebody new was with them. It was the Baron dressed in military uniform with some armor covering his shoulders and chest. In his hands was a strong wooden bow and a spear and a quiver were slung on his back.

He was talking with the 3 leaders in a comfortable manner and occasionally they would point to the walls or gates. It was already in the afternoon and as Jason wandered over to the group, a person called his name.

Jason looked around to see Lyle along with Mark and Ethan at the edge of the group. He walked over to them, and Lyle gave him a cheeky smile

"hey Arch, how was it?"

Jason asked confused

"my what?"

"your time off duh!"

Lyle went into Jason's face and started to barrage him with questions his red hair bounced up and down as he started to ask them.

"so what did you find? any cool stuff? any "good places" if you know what I mean? or maybe some cool spots? how about that weird crystal tower in the middle of the city? or have you seen the Baron's mansion its a literal mini fortress"

Jason stopped Lyle and thought about what he should answer. After all, he had spent the free time he had on a bench resting. He had logged out after the first hour and cooked himself a meal and taken a nap.

He answered with

"i was taken a nap, yeah that's right"

Lyle quickly answered with a

"pfft boring" He then looked at Mark and said spontaneously

"Hey let's go check out the walls!"

Ethan spoke up

"wait, we are suppose to stay here for orders"

"aww we'll be back in a few minutes besides..." Lyle's words trailed off as he looked for Charlie, once he saw him talking to the leaders of the barracks and the Baron he shouted a loud "Charlie!"

Charlie turned around and saw Lyle who was waving towards him, he sighed and gave off a waving motion like a "go, don't disturb me"

Lyle looked back at Ethan

"see we got permission"

Ethan rolled his eyes and followed Lyle who had already set off towards the walls. The walls were a tall 40 meters and they looked extremely large and they were wide enough for a group of 6 men to patrol on side by side.

Jason followed Lyle as he leads the group up to a staircase on the side of the walls which lead to the top.

As they climbed up to the top Jason turned his head to the right and was able to see the city at a higher ground. From here he could see a lack of people, only the occasional pedestrian it reminded him of how reality was like at night with the lack of people.

Now looking at the city from a closer view, it really did seem abandoned even in the inner city where the more expensive houses were, he couldn't see much movement or even people.

It was like everyone had deserted the place, which in hindsight they probably did.

The group of 4 went up the stairs quickly with their increased attributes. Lyle was bounding up the stairs like a hyper bunny while Mark and Ethan took slow and steady steps that crossed multiple steps at a time.

They reached the top and Jason was able to see the valley from the wall.

Honestly, the view from the cliffs was better but at that time he was too worried about missing out on the Exp that he didn't have time to look at the view.

The city of Muno was in a valley, they had two walls on the East and one of the west, on the north and south large cliffs encompassed the sides making it a natural wall.

The east and west walls crossed the entire valley so that whoever wanted to go through the valley needed to pass through the city. The valley was filled with tall grass and thanks to Jason and the green barrack members along with the wolves there were no more trees or large boulders.

In the very middle of the valley was a long rectangular burn mark with a wide empty space devoid of any grass around where the charred grass was.

Lyle along with Mark ran to the edge of the wall of sat on the edge. Ethan also went along with them but instead of sitting down, he laid down on top of one of the battlements on the wall dangerously close to plummeting down to the ground.

Lyle turned around and looked at Jason. The afternoon sun was shining its rays of light, with a tint of red in it and it shone through glinting off Lyle's red hair and highlighting his cheeky smile.

Jason could hear Boops mutter to himself

'man if Lyle were an anime girl I would have instantly made this my wall background'

"Sorry, your what?"

'wait, nope nothing! forget I said anything!'

Jason sighed and countied looking at the view while ignoring Boops's weebish words since he was also sort of one himself.

The large cliffs in the distance where Jason had camped were in view, and farther away from that were plains that stretched out as far as Jason could see.

Jason walked over and placed both of his elbows on top of the battlements meant for archers and just gazed into the valley as a gust of wind picked up and brushed the hair and clothes of the 4 rose knight trainees along with a few bits of grass and some tree leaves from the cliffs.

The 4 of them enjoyed the atmosphere for a bit, but then a voice from the base of the wall shouted to them. Somehow that voice was carried by the wind and allowed the group of 4 to hear it.

It was Charlie and he said in a pissed tone

"you've been up there for 30 minutes that's more then enough if you don't come down here in 30 seconds ill throw you down here myself"

Lyle Mark and Ethan all stood up and started to dash down the stairs. They all knew that what Charlie said was a literal threat in fact, Lyle had been slapped around the field a few times when he decided that the training uniform of everyone should be dyed a disgusting puke green. Mark his accomplice was sentenced to cleaning the entire cafeteria/gym on his own, which he developed a trama over. Apparently, that cafeteria had many dark secrets that should never be uncovered.

Jason was able to see the fear in their eyes and started to dash with them.

Lyle slightly cheated by using Shunpo and instantly reappearing on the ground. Mark and Ethan both gave up on using the stairs and a large group of archers was currently going up it and they both jumped off and placed their feet on the walls to slide down.

That left Jason to run down the stairs that were cramped with people going up it, or jumping down. Which he still considered suicide even though he probably could have made it.

Thinking quickly Jason employed the second form to use the speed boost it gave and jumped up and ran on the wall until he passed the group of archers and then landed back on the stairs and dashed down.

Charlie waited for the 4 and when all of them had reached him, he said coldly

"you guys already know what mission the Blue 2 team gets in battles like these, conserve your energy I don't want to see you guys doing any more stuff like this before a fight"

Saying that Charlie left and went to the Baron who had a team of 20 spearmen behind him who all looked like seasoned warriors.

Lyle but his hands behind his back and laughed a bit

"man he never changed does he"

Mark put his arm around Jason's shoulder as he said

"so Arch, you ready for our special mission?"

Jason looked around and asked

"special mission?"

Mark grinned again and answered

"yup, assassinating the leader in battle"

Jason's eyes widened to a level that shouldn't be possible and he looked at Lyle with a face that said

"Why didn't I know this?"

Lyle waved it off and ignored it by whistling to himself.

Ethan laughed and addressed Jason's worry

"don't worry Arch, we will show you why we were chosen for missions like these"

Jason sighed in exasperation

"please and thank you"
