In the dark of night, a large group of bandits were approaching, lead by 2 figures they snuck under complete silence through the valley.
The dagger-wielding figure in the front was gripping a small purple stone while the saber wielding figure held the handle of his saber in a firm manner.
The thousands of bandits behind them unlike the last few times were completely silent and obeyed almost all of their commands. The reason for this was because of the person in the very back of the bandit army, he was slowly approaching the city at his own pace with an elite guard of Bandits surrounding him.
He was shirtless with a red bandanna tied around his muscular arm. His entire body was solid and strong looking that it looked to be made out of steel, he was a head taller than the bandits around him and the horse beneath him struggled to hold him up. He was bald and his face was full of scars. One of these scars covered his left eye and when he opened it you could see a pure white pupil that stared into nothingness.
He bore no weapon, yet he seemed like the most dangerous being in the entire army. The bandits didn't need any light to show them where they needed to go, where ever the exact opposite of where they felt that pressing sense of fear and intimidation, that was the right way.
This weaponless bandit leader had gathered bandits from all around the lands and forged them into a fighting force. His name was Welf, and he was currently advancing on the City of Muno.
Welf looked at the walls of Muno light up with torches. Even from the distance they were at he could see men on the walls, it seems they had predicted their ambush.
The bandits pressed on, and Welf countied to ride leisurely the dagger-wielding hooded figure appeared next to Welf and asked in a serious tone
"Welf, you know that rose knights are guarding the city right? are you sure we can do this?"
Welf turned to the dagger-wielding figure and corrected him in a deep baritone voice
"the rose knight trainees are guarding the city, if it were real rose knights we wouldn't be here, we would be dead"
The dagger-wielding figure nodded solemnly
"yes, but remember we must take this city at all costs, after all your "investors" are looking for a good return on their investment"
Welf glared at the dagger-wielding figure, making him back up in fear. Even though the dagger-wielding figure was sent as a representative for the "investors" this person scared him.
He hadn't participated in any of the raids against the city of Muno but now with him here he was almost completely sure they could win against the city that was standing on its last legs.
He looked at the dagger-wielding figure again giving him chills
" you will get what you want, leave and lead the men"
The dagger-wielding figure quickly retreated to the front of the bandit line that was stealthily moving towards the city walls.
Back at the city of Muno, outside the gate, a group of wolves lead by Asher and Lance retreated back to Jason.
Asher walked up and reported
"We smelled a large number of people coming into the valley, around a few thousand"
Jason nodded and took the information to Charlie, he said grimly
"its the rest of them, with their ever so "famed" leader I suppose"
He immediately gave orders to form up. Ardem who was next to him nodded and signaled to the green barrack members to help him relay the information in the dark.
In the dark, and with almost complete silence the rose knight trainee platoon slowly started to form up in front of the city gates.
The wolves joined Jason who went to where the rest of the Blue barrack members were. Everyone knew how important it was to keep quiet, even Jeffery wasn't saying anything. He just motioned with his head to line up next to Jason.
Jason pulled out his sword and checked it one more time. His mind had been on what Jitsuryoku had told him the day before. About how he needed a breakthrough in order to advance. That meant doing something big.
Jason checked the levels of the wolves and saw that a few were also at level 49 with no breakthrough yet. Jeffery was one of those wolves. In fact, if Jason remembered correctly the alpha wolf was the only one who was past level 50, currently the alpha wolf was level 60.
The rose knight trainees went into their usual formation and stood still, just waiting.
Suddenly Charlie called for the Blue 2 team members via green barrack messengers and the team was brought to the very back of the platoon.
Charlie stood there and started to talk in a hushed tone to the rest of the Blue 2 team members
"alright, the leader is going to be in the battle, I'm sure of it, our job is to eliminate the leader, ill leave command to Jitsuryoku we are going to split off at my signal and jump into their ranks to get the leader understood?"
All of the Blue 2 team members nodded and Charlie whispered
"dismissed"
When Jason was about to turn around to go back a notification came up
[new mission]
[rank:B]
[eliminate the bandit leader]
[description: your team has been tasked with eliminating the bandit leader, sneak through his guards or take them out with brute force to reach him]
[rewards: Exp, ???]
Jason didn't even have the choice to accept or decline the mission, but he also knew why.
Before he could do anything else, a sudden growl by Lance alerted everyone in the platoon. Some gripped their weapons, others pulled on their bows. The air was tense as everyone stared into total darkness.
And from the city gate, Charlie stood and started to chant
From Charlie's body, a bright light seemed to glow out of him. The bandits that were getting closer to the city noticed the light and fired arrows at him. 2 shields appeared and blocked those arrows before they could reach Charlie as he was in mid-chant.
Jitsuryoku and Colby stood like twin fortresses in front of Charlie, they both planted their shields into the ground and started to defend against the onslaught of arrows that were being shot towards them.
It took Charlie a bit more time to finish the chant since the light element was the weakest at night. But he managed to pull energy from the moon. He guided the energy to his chest where the magic formula was and injected it.
On the other side of the magic formula or circle, a highly condensed orb of light was emerging. It wasn't even completed yet but it gave off an intense light that lit up the nearby surroundings.
Thankfully the platoon was far enough ahead so that their position wouldn't be betrayed.
On the other hand, the bows the bandits had were only aimed for the figure that was chanting a mysterious light into existence. Two fighters stood between the arrows and Charlie. Even if one arrow passed them and hit Charlie and even if Charlie didn't get hurt if his chanting was disturbed a magical backlash wouldn't be the only thing they would have to worry about.
Charlie suddenly started to emit a strong golden light as the orb of light neared completion.
The people all around him readied as they all knew what was coming next.
Charlie grunted in pain as the orb completely passed through the magic formula. He quickly pushed up with his hands, his hands seemed to hit an invisible weight as he struggled to push up.
Sweat poured down his face as he struggled against the pressure, but as he pushed up the orb floated up, its light expanding as it rose higher.
The night seemed to have suddenly turned into day, it was like somebody had decided to shine a giant spotlight on the entire valley as almost everything seemed to be engulfed in light.
Finally, with a final push, the orb floated in the air, rotating as it illuminated the entire valley.
In the valley you could see a large number of bandits, they were crouched in the grass most of them were wearing dark-colored clothes. They all looked up at the orb in amazement and then in terror as they saw what laid in front of them.
A small ferocious group of soldiers stood at the gate. The red barrack members with towering shields and huge muscular bodies that could send a bandit flying away with a swat. The spearmen of Muno next in line with their spears extended past the red barrack member's shields. Green barrack members in the back holding up their bows as the glint of arrowheads reflected the orb's light. On the flanks stood silent swordsmen, and in there, ranks stood wolves, huge muscular wolves that looked more like monsters versions or regluar wolves.
That group of soldiers, no that army yelled out a battle cry that could give person chills and charged, into the swarm of bandits.
