Jason and the rest of the group stared at the remains of the goblin commander as they started to dissipate into blue flecks and fly into the sky, giving them more light than the actual campfire.
The altered goblins stared at the group of people who had suddenly jumped in and assassinated their leader. There was an awkward pause with both parties awkwardly looking at each other, not quite sure what to do.
One of the more intelligent goblins gave off a shriek of fear and ran off, that goblin had an innate sense of danger, and those humans, especially the red, and short curly-haired ones gave him an overwhelming sense of fear. The wolves too were giving all of the goblins death glares, with the fresh memories of their families and clan on their minds.
The one goblin turned around quickly and ran away shaking. All of the altered goblins noticed the fleeing goblin and soon it became the general consensus to run away with it.
So with a large cry of fear all of the altered goblins ran away from a small group of people. Hundred of goblins ran on feet, or hands tearing each other apart to get away from 6 humans and a bunch of wolves.
It was a surreal sight, but the humans who the goblins were fleeing from were not paying attention to the goblins running away. Lyle was grinning at Charlie.
"hardest part huh? It's going to be even harder huh?"
Charlie facepalmed and a tint of red on his face.
"shut up, I didn't think it was going to be that easy"
Ethan laughed and walked up to where everyone else was while cleaning his sword with a rag.
"so, what are we doing now?"
Charlie cocked his head
"well, if that really was the dude who commanded the monsters to the city for the past few years, then.... I think we are done with our campaign"
All of the red barrack members with confused faces. Jason could hear Boops facepalming in his headspace.
'that was the most anticlimactic thing I have ever seen, GIVE ME BACK MY FINAL BATTLE COOL STUFF'
Jason laughed softly, relief was flooding back into him at Charlie's words. The pitch-black surroundings of the forest seemed to be less creepy and dark. Perhaps it was because of the thought that the altered goblins weren't anywhere near them. But Jason was extremely relieved.
He looked at the notifications he got from killing the goblin commander.
[you have defeated the goblin commander!]

Jason happily looked at his status.

He had 47 unused stat points, 47! Jason grinned at the thought of using those points in his status. A part of him really wanted to see what would happen if his charm passed 100.
Boops softly whispered to him in a menacing way
'don't'
One of the wolves brought the loot drops of the goblin commander to him, his tail was wagging thinking that if he did that he would get food.
Jason grinned at the wolf's intelligence and gave him a piece of beef jerky.
Jeffery looked at Jason and the other wolf interacting with a look of betrayal on his face. He quickly turned around and went to gather the drops the regular altered goblins dropped.
Jason examed the drops from the goblin commander. There were two drops, Boops cheered at one of them, it was a monster core. Jason could now make 3 golems if he learned the magical engineering skill. And it was a D+ ranked core which was nice. Boops muttered crossly that it should have been higher ranked but Jason was content with what he had.
The second drop was a bit more unique. Jason analyzed it and the information was drawn up.
[altered goblin hide]
[the hide of a goblin that has been altered by a mysterious power]
[the mysterious power seems to be emanating off of the hide, further investigation is needed]
"heh that's convenient"
Boops shouted in Jason head
'oH yEa I tOtALly dOn'T kNoW wHaT tHaS noTifiCaTiOn mEaNs'
"yeah, ill give it to Charlie later, he looked pretty busy right now.
Charlie was looking at where the body of the goblin commander was. He had a confused face and he was muttering to himself about how he felt like something was missing.
He was walking around the place lifting his head up to the ceiling of the forest occasionally. Something was missing here, but for some reason, he couldn't think of it.
Lyle tapped his shoulder
"sooo, are we going to investigate the villages or what?"
Charlie widened his eyes, he remembered that he just sent back the entire platoon except for them.
Charlie walked over to the campfire softly fizzing out and resisted the urge to slam his head into the ashes.
Charlie turned around to face Lyle and he said in an annoyed voice
"pack up and get ready, we are heading over to those villages and heading right back to the city"
Lyle nodded and quickly ran back over to where the rest of the group was to relay the news.
When Mark heard it he groaned out loud and asked Charlie
"Charlie, do we really have to go to the villages, with a commander ranked monster like that one here there is no chance they are still alive, we might as well presume them dead."
Ethan expressed his agreement, both of them had witnessed first hand the destructive properties of a commander ranked monster in a village. In fact, it was the thing that made the orphans.
The twins didn't want to head back to a place like that, there would only be ruins and corpses to find.
Ethan spoke up
"those villages have lost contact with the city for a few months by now, even if there were survivors they would have already died. I truly see no point in the incursion"
Charlie seemed to take in the opinions of the two, in fact, part of him agreed with them too, they had just finished their massive campaign successfully with him leading them. He really wanted them to quickly return back to finish the trial before anything happened.
Charlie turned to the rest of the group
"so what do you think?"
Lyle shrugged
"I don't care, ill go with whatever"
Charlie then looked at Jason.
Jason knew what Charlie wanted and so he went into an internal discussion with Boops.
"so Boops what do you think?"
'i really don't know, it might prove to be useful, but on the other hand, it could be a waste of precious time'
"hmm if there are survivors, do you think we could take them back?"
'i mean its possible'
Jason mentally pressed even closer to the floating ball of light
"and it's possible that if there is a survivor the points the person will give me will be crazy right?"
'i mean yeah, a survivor's gratitude is nothing to make light off, you would get a stable supply of points if that happened.'
"That settles it"
Jason looked up from his thinking position and faced Charlie.
"I think we should go to those villages, I think we should be 100% sure of their fate, and if there is a survivor then it would be completely worth it."
Jason's words sounded noble, but he had an ulterior motive.
Ethan spoke up
"but it will just be a waste of time, who knows we might get hit by those goblin things again and lose some of the wolves or something"
Jason argued back
"but there could be a poor soul in those villages maybe they are still standing, we should check"
Boops laughed as Jason argued back, Jason really had no idea what he was saying when he argued back since he was internally panicking as he said everything and so Boops decided to call that move the random bulls$*&* move. He had a feeling it would be used a lot more times than just this.
In the middle of Jason pulling random stuff out of his butt and Ethan answering logically, Colby stood up and placed his hand on Jason's shoulder signifying that he sided with Jason.
It was now a split decision with 2 against the excursion and 2 for it. And Lyle who was floating around no caring about it.
They all looked at Charlie who was the tiebreaker. He sighed and answered
"Alright, let's go to the villages, lets hope we don't waste our time"
