Legend of the Moon

Slowly the confusing looking runic language started to change in Arjuna's eyes. They started to make sense and as he scanned over the first page. He could now understand the words.

[Tales of the first queen of the elves, (Minuvae Pafir) Cleric of the Moon]

Without further ado, Arjuna started to read the contents of the book.

The tale of Minuvae Pafir, queen of the elves starts in a humble village. On the south side of the eastern continent, back when there were no laws except the law of survival. She was born, from the race called the elves. The elves were a wandering race, though there are stories that they were descended from the Gods. They were weak, with no place to call home. They traveled from place to place fleeing from their predators and other monsters that were bent on eradicating them.

It was in that situation, Minuvae was born. At a place that the elves temporarily stopped at and set camp, hoping that they had finally escaped their captors. They created a village and attempted to create a stable food source with farming.

The place they settled on was a beautiful and expertly hidden place, a circle of mountains surrounded them, and streams of rippling water could be seen trickling down to furnish the valley that lay nestled in the midst of the mountains. From the outside not a hint of the valley could be seen, just a crown of mountains, and even if people wanted to reach the village it required them to cross the mountains to reach them.

As a child, Minuvae traveled through the entire valley exploring every nook and cranny. She was born with an adventurous spirit and even under the warnings of her parents she constantly snuck out to see more of the valley that consisted of their home.

It was in this village that the elves started to slowly grow, the valley was filled with plenty of wildlife, and with the elves' inherent affinity with the bow, they were able to quickly pick up and learn them after they were discovered by a certain craft smith. It was in that village that the famous elvish bow was created. The long and sleek one which boasted of range much farther than their human counterparts made with the few scarce trees in the valley.

Slowly as time passed, the single elvish village started to grow, and Minuvae witnessed it with her own eyes. Soon the village crossed more than a quarter of the entire valley and the farms and buildings started to grow, the elves realized that they had successfully escaped their predators and had found a haven.

And that was what that village was named, Haven. The root of the elves. The first village.

Years passed, and soon the elves with their long lives and bows started to form an exploration group, Minuvae with her adventurous spirit, was the first one to volunteer to explore the valley and even possibly the lands beyond the border of the mountains.

She even managed to tame a wolf that she affectionately named Amarok. Together she and Amarok traveled the valley hunting down any wild animals and the occasional monster making a name for herself as a fearsome hunter.

One day, Minuvae decided to see the lands past the mountains and so she along with her trusty companion Amarok and a few other companions who joined the exploration team traveled outside of the comforts of the valley.

They left under the opposition of the majority of the villagers and elves, but the insatiable curiosity of Minuvae and her companions prompted them to leave in secret under the light of a full moon g$h* $#^& ᛈᛖᚱᚺᚨᛈᛊ ᚦᛖ ᛗᛟᛟᚾ ᚹᚨᛊ ᛟᚢᛏ ᚠᛟᚱ ᚦᚨᛏ ᛊᛈᛖᚲᛁᚠᛁᚲ ᚱᛖᚨᛊᛟᚾ

Arjuna squinted and looked at the book again. He couldn't understand the runes again. He looked more closely and saw the runes were too faded for him to read. And as he turned he saw page after page of what seemed to be empty sheets of paper. Though he could see faintly an occasional faded elvish rune.

Finally, Arjuna reached a page where the runes were eligible and he continued to read

Minuvae returned to the village, with her companions missing and an injured Amarok in her hands. She too had numerous injuries on her body as she stumbled back into the village.

After the villagers nursed her and Amarok's wounds. They noticed that she changed. Both in personality and image.

Before, like the rest of the elves, she had golden hair with light green eyes, with a rash and bold personality.

But she returned with long white hair that sparkled under the moon and glistening grey eyes that seemed to hold the knowledge that surpassed regular elves. Her rash and bold personality seemed to be tamed, she no longer spoke loudly but instead quietly waited and listened only talking when needed, she seemed to withdraw from many things that she held as important before and she spent many days outside of the village. Especially at nights when the moon was out. She gave off an elegant aura and now instead of a bow and quiver she held a mysterious white staff that she refused to explain.

In fact, she refused to tell anyone about what happened outside of the mountains.

But one thing was known, she stepped up when she returned, somehow she gained the respect of the villagers and with wisdom and unparalleled strength, she slowly gained traction eventually gaining more authority than the elders who ruled over the elvish village.

Under her leadership, the elvish village grew to new heights, elvish magic was discovered, elvish culture flourished and the tiny village spread to all corners of the valley. The exploration team grew in size and skill and soon they were the most elite warriors of the elves. They grew under the teachings of Minuvae and were even reported to be able to use mysterious powers relating to the elements of light and darkness. That tiny village grew into the first city of the elves and its capital city for a while, Haven.

Minuvae was obviously named as the leader of the elves and under her leadership, she expanded the city Haven and the elvish race past the boundaries of the valley and into the forest surrounding the mountains and much of the south side of the continent.

There nature magic was born, and druids also started to pop up in elvish ranks.

Elves have a long lifespan and populate rather slowly so Minuvae focused on quality more than quantity.

Things were going rather smoothly for the elves their influence was growing and scattered populations of elves gathered to Minuvae and Haven, growing their numbers and increasing their ranks and power.

But all good things must end eventually

In a terrible turn of events the great apocalypse arrived. And the entire world was thrown into chaos. Elves fell into darkness and many more died. The elites of the elves, the exploration team now renamed as the Nightfall Archers tried their best, saving many lives at the cost of their own. Minuvae could be seen at the peak of a mountain looking at the moon as all that she had built crumbled around her.

But as the elvish lands were razed and destroyed around her, she kept on looking at the moon. Until finally, a pillar of white light descended upon her.

She stepped out clothed in white, an almost holy being. And together with the hidden Nightfall Archers using the elements of light and dark, they held back the apocalypse for as long as they could. She was given the title the Cleric of the Moon after that incident.

And then the apocalypse disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. With no trace of it except the damage and terror it caused.

Minuvae rose to the throne of the elvish lands. She became the ruler of the forest and the master of Haven and she watched as her people spread throughout the land in peace and harmony with nature.

The Nightfall Archers acted as her hands and feet, they were the darkness that protected the elves from the back while she was the light that lead them in the front.

So Minuvae expanded into the uncharted territory of the forest. She allied her race with the ground-dwelling gnomes, fought back the humans that threatened to take over the elves' lands. She became the protector of the forest and the friend of the spirits.

She was the 1st queen of the elves, and none will ever be as loved by the elves as her. She grew from a bold and adventurous brat to a wise and noble queen, who lead her race to victory.

Minuvae erected a shrine for the moon goddess, though its location has been lost, its been known that it's been the place where she spent the most time in.

The Nightfall Archers, after Minuvae left the throne to her children continued to protect the elves and their lands. Though their leader had left, they would continue to protect the elvish kingdom from generation to generation.
