Arjuna closed the ancient elvish runic book with a sigh. He looked over his surroundings to see Alanis sleeping with her head tucked into her arms leaning on the table. Arjuna looked at the book one more time. The story of the first elvish queen still in his head.
Boops reassured that he had copied the entire book as Arjuna read through it. It was just a shame that a large part of the ancient book had disappeared or faded out.
Arjuna flipped through the book one more time to notice that a few pages were actually ripped out. But with nothing to go off of Arjuna could only make a small mental note to himself.
Arjuna quickly recapped what he learned about the Nightfall Archers. They were the elites of the elves who originated from the exploration team lead by the 1st queen of the elves Minuvae Pafir herself.
And though the book didn't make it very clear, they seemed to harness the powers of darkness and protected the elven kingdom from the shadows. At least now Arjuna had a grasp of the powers of the Nightfall Archers though it wasn't much. He also now knew the founding story of the elven kingdom.
Boops quietly asked Arjuna as he stood up to stretch out his sore and tired muscles
'you think this is enough information about the Nightfall Archers?'
Arjuna thought for a moment and then replied
"We searched for information about the Nightfall Archers for the last few hours, I think we have enough"
Boops agreed and muttered to himself
'yeah, after all, what's more, important to a person than their roots and beginning?'
Arjuna walked over to Alanis and gently shook her.
Alanis groaned letting out a tired female voice as she rolled back to her comfortable position.
Arjuna bent down to whisper to her softly in her ears.
"get up," he said "I finished looking into the Nightfall Archers"
Alanis flinched and jumped up at the sound of Arjuna's soft voice. She turned to see Arjuna looking at her with a confused expression on her face.
There was a small moment of silence as Alanis turned her head hiding the red blush that was covering her face.
"so," she said in an embarrassed voice
"did you learn anything?"
Arjuna let out a brilliant smile which reflected the joy he was feeling after learning a good amount of information.
"yes" he answered nodding his head towards the stairs "ill tell you about it later, but for now, lets head out of here"
Alanis nodded and followed Arjuna as they went down the stairs, glad that she could get out of this dreary place. She had already been put in a foul mood when she heard what the receptionist had said about her race and was glad to head outside which was almost synonymous with freedom to her.
Arjuna headed outside thinking that they should head out of the city. He had finished most of the tasks and felt like he needed to recharge his energy somehow.
Arjuna turned to Alanis and said
" I am going on a little trip outside the city, do you want to come?"
Alanis stood on the stairs as she looked at Arjuna with widened eyes as she slowly nodded her head.
Arjuna saw her answer and turned around to head down the stairs. Boops was happy with getting a ton of new information thanks to the books that Arjuna had gone through, they were going to be useful in the long run.
With the speed of a ranger hunting its prey, Arjuna and Alanis hurried down the stairs of the library. Arjuna gave a small nod to the receptionist who let out a beaming grin as he did so.
And together the two of them opened the doors of the library, greeting the fresh burst of wind that assaulted them as they stepped out. The afternoon sun shone upon them in warm comfortable beams of light and the various sights of the city from the entrance of the library could be seen such as the city hall that rose in the distance. The wide field behind a short but wide building filled with people swinging swords or running around the field directed by yelling drill commanders.
Normal houses also rose in the distance with smoke slowly puffing out of their chimneys, families, and people NPCs and players alike traveled down the streets.
Arjuna and Alanis enjoyed the scenery for a bit. Alanis was the first to break off and run down the stairs. Beckoning for Arjuna to follow, eager to spend time with Arjuna.
Arjuna slightly annoyed that he couldn't enjoy the view for a bit longer reluctantly followed Alanis down the library stairs and down into the city streets. Together the two went down into the streets and looked around. Arjuna spotted an interesting stand that sold magic stones and immediately changed his course for it while Alanis reluctantly followed.
Sadly they were all inferior quietly and wouldn't help much for what his master was planning with making golems and such.
Arjuna spotted a few more interesting things on the way which caused him and Alanis to lose a bit of time. But in Arjuna's mind, he was taking a small break so he was entitled to be able to do this, and since Alanis didn't exactly help in the searching of information she could only helplessly follow Arjuna and hope he would eventually reach the outside gate.
Arjuna returned with a vile of the material that was mixed into almost everything in the city of dawn. It was the mysterious material that reflected the light of the sun at Dawn and Dusk in such a beautiful manner tourist constantly flocked over to the City even as tensions rose between the Nightshade empire and the Lion Empire.
Arjuna didn't know what it could be used for, but since he was starting to become an able Alechmist he felt like he needed to collect as many different samples as he could.
A sudden ray of light fell upon Arjuna's eyes. He curiously looked around and then noticed that everything was starting to get darker. He looked to see the sun slowly making its descent behind the mountains in far in the distance and realized that it was almost dusk and he wasn't close to the exit of the gate.
He looked behind him to see Alanis tapping her foot impatiently as time drained before her eyes.
"lets go already," she said in an annoyed tone. Arjuna nodded and tossed Alanis a vial filled with a light green liquid.
Alanis caught it in her hands and looked at it carefully, she could feel a small gust of wind emanating out from it as she held it and soon realized that it was one of the speed potions Arjuna had made earlier.
She watched as Arjuna popped a speed potion open and started to drink one himself.
Arjuna finished the potion quickly and looked at the notification
[you have consumed a speed potion]
[your movement speed has been increased by 20% for 10 minutes]
Arjuna jumped slightly just slightly pushing off of the pavement.
He then realized that he had just leaped high enough to reach the roof of a house.
Arjuna and Alanis made eye contact as Arjuna was a few meters in the air. Arjuna let out a grin and pushed off against the nearest wall propelling himself towards the city gate in a fast pace.
Alanis chugged the speed potion and chanted a spell as quickly as she could
𝙹⍑ ∴╎リ↸! ⊣╎⍊ᒷ ᒲᒷ ᓭ!¡ᒷᒷ↸
she said in a hurried voice as a green swirl of magic surrounded her. She bent her knees in runner's starting position and pushed as hard as she could on the pavement creating some cracks in it as she leapt off.
She leaped over stalls sometimes lightly landing on a single wooden beam that was smaller than the width of her bow and with what seemed to be an almost weightless way she leaped over the stalls and the houses.
In the city of Dawn a black-cloaked person chased after a teenage bow, over the rooftops, and through the streets, to the normal people they seemed to be streaks of green and black sometimes getting closer other times getting farther apart.
Alanis chased after Arjuna a smile on her face. She could see him in frount of her, the sun's last rays shining on him, though he was dressed in rouge clothes and had a dark look with hidden weapons and more hidden on his body.
He seemed to be the brightest person in the entire world in her eyes. Arjuna turned around to look at Alanis, he took note of her fast approach and increased his speed letting out a rare smile.
His teeth were exposed and the sunset in the background of Arjuna like a calm fire.
Alanis's heart thumped and beat like crazy as she witnessed Arjuna leaping through the streets, like a free bird he soared through the rooftops.
Alanis smiled to herself
That was what she wanted to be.
