Jason watched Perseus fall to the floor gasping for breath as he held his stomach as the gaping hole in it bled out profusely.

Jason didn't know what happened, but something inside of him snapped when he saw it. The energy that seemed to always swirl around him and his sword shifted from a warm and gently stream of energy to an ever consuming black and red flame of energy that covered Jason entirely.

A silhouette of a rose, burning in black flames emerged from behind Jason and his eye glowed in a mixture of black and red.

He held his sword out and the black and red energy surrounded it in an instant like a rushing wave.

Boops didn't say anything but instead sent the data he got from analyzing the two golem monsters in front of them.

Jason nodded towards Rocky silently who nodded and scrambled towards Perseus who had crawled away ever so slowly as Jason and the two golems stared deeply at each other.

The black and red energy around Jason seemed to grow and reach new heights. Jason glared at the golems as he levitated in the air a few inches off the ground. He held out his sword surrounded in the flaming red and black aura.

The huge golem now with its defensive scales dropped and its bright red inner workings dropped the huge pillar and slammed down with both of its fists, a huge shockwave shook the entire chamber and the ground cracked as bursts of flame erupted from them.

The sleeker golem holding a spear sprinted towards Jason with light steps with its spear centered straight towards Jason's chest. Running alongside the bursts of flames that gradually erupted from the cracks on the ground caused by the golem's slam.

Jason leaped from his ground charging towards the spear-wielding golem with a newfound intensity.

Every step Jason made brought him closer to the spear golem. He was faster than the spear golem which stretched out its spear in preparation for Jason who was barreling towards the golems.

The spear golem thrust out with its weapon as Jason reached a few meters away from it an orange glow emanating from the spear, a sign that a skill had been used.

But the golem felt no contact, Jason leaped into the air and twisted himself into a roll dodging the thrust by a few inches. A sword swung straight towards the golem's eyes ready to smash them into bits.

The golem had nowhere to run, but a sudden force seemed to pull the golem back like an invisible person dragging it back.

The golem slowly skidded to a stop from the sudden force and instantly activated its berserk skill.

Parts of the hard metal scales on its body slowly fell off and revealed veins and inner workings all shinning with a windy green.

The golem went into a defensive stance, the flowing green energy emanating and lighting up the surroundings. It glanced around with its red eyes trying to locate the menace.

But it found nothing. A sudden realization seemed to hit the golem though it was a machine and it whirled over to where the other huge golem was. It was a trick!

Jason hurtled to the huge golem it lifted its arms up to crush Jason, but he was to fast. In a split second, he slid through the golem's outstretched legs and stabbed into one of the bright red parts of the golem's body with a metal skewer.

The golem lurched, this time without the loud shrieking noise of having its eyes broken. Jason wasted no time and grasped the end of the skewer and using it as a pivot point lifted himself in a flash onto the golem's neck.

The golem quickly moved its hands to the back of its neck sensing what Jason intended to do.

Jason raised his sword and stabbed into the golems last remaining eye. The red-eye cracked and fell into pieces falling to the ground as a loud shriek emanated from the entire chamber starting from the top and descending to the bottom.

The hands of the golem stopped a few seconds after the red eyes were broken. An unknown force seemed to tug at it trying to make it move, but it ultimately failed.

Jason stood on the head of the golem and looked at his sword which gave off a glow similar to the glow the golem gave.

"we'll loot its body for any valuables later," he said to himself

Jason was still in the avatar form there were no signs of it running out.

Jason's eyes widened in surprise and quickly shifted his weapon behind his back.

A loud clang ensued as a spear collided with the flat of Jason's blade.

Jason let out a small smile

"what would I ever do without you Boops"

Boops responded curtly

'shut up and fight'

Jason laughed and turned around while redirecting the force of the spear into the air with a short flick of his sword.

The aura around Jason was still immensely large but the black color in it started to diminish and the red seemed to take up the majority of it again. The faint image of a rose behind Jason returned to its normally bright red visage though hints of darkness could be seen on the tips of the petals.

Jason stabbed towards the spear golems unprotected body the energy around his sword burning furiously.

The golems spear started to glow as a swirl of wind gathered around it. The golem grasped it and swung at Jason as he stabbed into the golem's body.

"oh it wants to take me with it huh," Jason thought to himself as the spear swung in from the outside, though the pointy part wouldn't hit him, it was going to hurt.

Jason's sword stabbed into a gap on the golem's amour. It jolted and paused for a second.

But as Jason braced himself for a hit, two hands holding daggers appeared on either side of the golem's head and stabbed into its red eyes. A loud shriek louder than most came from the chambers it seemed to be a cry of pain. The spear golem's entire body seemed to dull and its swing slowly came to a stop.

Perseus appeared from behind the golem grinning.

There was a hole in the center of his clothes exposing his muscular body. But there was no gaping hole or gushing blood.

Jason's brain went slightly haywire seeing the seemingly recovered Perseus. Until Boops made an aha! sound and said to himself

'ohh the leveling up effect huh'

The leveling up effect, an effect caused when players levels up. It instantly recovers a person's hp and allows them to continue fighting. Jason had also experienced the level up effect though it was way back in the beginner's village.

If he remembered correctly that was how Jason saved himself after a hard fight against some of the horned rabbits.

Sadly the effects it gave were strictly only for hp, not for a person's mana or even mental state. Perseus stood in front of Jason with the downed spearman golem at his feet and grinned

"Sorry, for the late recovery master"

Jason shook his head, a small smirk on his face

"at least you made one Perseus"

"you should have seen Rocky's face as I stood up all healed"

Jason looked over to see Rocky still holding a roll of bandages in his hand kneeling with a stunned expression on his face.

Jason internally swore that he would never let something like that happen again. Seeing Perseus getting injured as drastically as that haunted him. Even though Perseus was treating it lightly, he too felt pain on the same level as he would in reality. Since their statuses were bound in-game and reality. Which meant that the pain of a spear piercing through him was something he felt very well.

Jason promised himself that he would protect Perseus.

Boops gave a warning as he gazed at the map

'uhhh guys, I hate to break this brother bonding thing but there are two big red dots heading your wa.... wait a sec why are they merging into one? hah?'

As Boops got more and more confused.

Jason and Perseus both stood up straight and walked towards where the singular large dot was approaching them.

Jason grinned

"finally a fair two on two duel eh?"

A rough determined voice spoke from behind them

"you mean three on two"

Jason and Perseus turned around to look at the speaker. Rocky stood behind them with his shield and mace in hand.

His hands were trembling feeling the aura of the enemies even when he couldn't see them.

Jason and Perseus both looked at each other and smiled. Jason waved Rocky over.

"come on," he said "if your going to fight with us, your going to have to get closer"

So the three of them watched as the red dots came into view. rapid footsteps could be heard getting closer and closer.

2 pairs of red eyes appeared in the darkness.

Jason took a deep breath.
