Another man fell to the pub floor his eyes rolling to the back of his head. His hand was clutching a mug of beer.
A skinny man stood above him, stamping the fallen person's head with his foot.
"that's what you get for insulting me!" Skiske yelled out cackling to himself as he held a small vial of green liquid. The people in the pub all backed away in fear as Skiske held the vial of poison high above his head. Skiske let out a demented laugh as he watched as the group of people back away in fear.
He turned his head to look at the barkeeper.
"what are you looking at" he growled out "get me another drink"
The barkeeper had no choice but to lower his head and obey. He didn't want to get killed by Skiske's poisons.
Skiske leaned back on a seat one foot still on the head of the fallen man as he drank from his mug with a laugh. He didn't need men like the rest of those idiotic gang members. All that he needed was his poisons and he could rule the world.
If only that one brat Jack was less careful with what he drank. Then he would already be the new Executive in the ripper's gang.
Skiske's face contorted with rage as he gripped his hand tighter. The vial of potion in it cracked and its contents spilled over his hand.
Skiske didn't react as the deadly poison trickled down his hand. After years of practicing the art of poison making, he had almost become immune to its effects. The poison dripped to the counter sizzling as parts of the counter slowly dissolved.
And then it came.
A person kicked the door to the pub open. The sound of the doors falling to the ground echoed through the pub.
Skiske turned around with a glare in his eye.
A person covered in a black cloak emerged a cold sword in his hand with wisps of red energy floating around it.
Jason let out a grin.
"BOOM BAYBEE"
Skiske mind was thrown into panic. There was news of a black-cloaked person, the one who had taken down his former boss. That could only mean... That the black-cloaked person was there for him!
Skiske jumped up from his seat leaping over the counter.
Jason raised his sword and pointed it at Skiske.
"heyyyy I found him," he remarked to Boops
Without waiting for Boops' response Jason dashed towards Skiske his sword already raised up.
Skiske rose from the counter with two vials in his hand.
with a loud "die!" he lobbed both of them at Jason.
Jason cut both of them down in one quick swing.
"frick, that was a mistake," he said to himself as the contents of the vials spilled all over the floor and over him.
The poison went all over Jason's cloak a bit falling on his hand. Jason winced slightly at the burning sensation on his hand.
[you have been posioned]
[posion damage has been decreased by 50% due to the effect of Gondrun's ring]
Jason's attention snapped back to Skiske.
Immediately after he had thrown the vials. He had dashed away. Throwing a few more vials behind his back as he did so. Jason couldn't count how many but dozens were thrown. Being careful not to cut them again, Jason ducked and weaved his way through them.
Jason pulled his leg back and swung his sword two successive times imbuing mana into his sword as he did so.
(double cross)
An X-shaped cross of white energy flew out from Jason's sword barreling towards Skiske's back as he sprinted towards the back door.
Sadly the skill (double cross) only had a straight-line trajectory. Only a small edge of it caught Skiske's shoulder as he stumbled out of the pub.
Jason clicked his tongue and was about to give chase. But Boops said quickly
'wait a second Jason, look around'
Jason stopped for a second looked around. The entire pub was in a mess from Skiske's poisons. They were spilled everywhere with numerous customers caught in the crossfire. Some lay on the floor gasping and others were trapped from leaving the pub from the puddles of poison on the floor.
Jason looked at all of them with a bit of confusion
"do you want me to help them?"
Jason asked Boops
Boops lowered his voice
"I need those points dude, more specifically the information subsystem, that would just make my life. Soooo much easier"
Jason looked over at the pub which was in complete chaos. Every second that he wasted was another second that Skiske could run away. But Jason had to admit those points were tempting.
"Alright fine," Jason said "keep an eye on Skiske with the map"
Boops let out a chuckle
'already working on it, he's heading in the direction of his home'
Jason let out a sigh and ran over to the groups of customers.
The customers who were in agonizing pain saw the cloaked figure as a threatening person. But when he picked them up and set them safely outside they started to view him as a savior.
Jason sped through the crowds of people sometimes he even picked up 3 of them and hauled them outside of the pub. He helped most of the people who seemed to be incapacitated from the poison while he helped the rest of the walk out of the pub.
Jason's points went up quickly and finally when the last customer was out of the pub.
Jason looked at the map. Skiske was already far out of the map's range but Boops was almost completely sure that he was hiding out in his house.
Jason was about to set off before a voice stopped him. It was one of the pub's customers that he had carried out.
"are you.... going after Skiske?"
Jason responded curtly
"did you think I attacked him for nothing?"
The customer stretched out his hand to grasp Jason's.
"Please," he said weakly
"Skiske uses people like me as test subjects for his poisons, many of the people I knew here lost their lives to his evil practices"
[new mission]
[Eliminate Skiske]
[description: Skiske has reigned over this place in the slums with fear. He has used heinous methods to improve his poison-making skill. Eliminate him and free the people subjected to his power]
[rewards: +5 gold, (poison making) skill book, +20 fame, +EXP]
Jason nodded and walked away. Honestly, the quest description didn't tell him anything new. Boops had already given him information about Skiske. But the thing that really interested him. Was the poison-making skill. Jason could help but wonder what would happen if he gave Arjuna the skill book.
But Jason was getting distracted. With a burst of speed, Jason set off from the pub angling directly towards the home of Skiske. Running through rooftops and leaping over dark alleys. He quickly got closer to the marker Boops put on the map.
Until finally Jason saw in the distance under the sun a small house. It looked normal with a chimney and windows. It was regular-sized but there was just one thing that was abnormal.
It was the smell. It was just horrible like a mix of rotten eggs, spoiled milk, and more. Jason was a few houses away and he could smell it from here.
Boops spotted 4 red dots in the house. One of them he identified as Skiske himself the rest were unknowns.
Jason looked at the house questioning whether or not he should get any closer.
And then a sudden idea came to his mind. Why did he have to go into the crazy poison makers' house who was definitely going to be prepared with all sorts of stuff?
Why not just.... smoke him out.
Boops paused for a moment to try and figure out what Jason was about to do, he looked through the inventory confused and curious. And then he saw it. Neatly stacked something given by Arjuna.
Boops could help but let out a chuckle
"ohhhh no no no, you can't be thinking of what I'm thinking"
Jason licked his lips which he regretted since it felt like more of the horrible smell could be tasted from his mouth and put a hand into his inventory.
Arjuna had been practicing many of his production skills ever since he got into the city of twilight. He sold some for good money there and the rest he kept for himself or gave it Jason and Perseus.
Jason pulled out the item Perseus gave.
It was black and had a thick type of rope on the end. It was small but it seemed to contain a type of powder.
[elementry level bomb]
Jason pulled out a lighter from his inventory, one that he had gotten from a regular convenience store.
And he slowly flicked it until the small flame could be seen on it. Though it was daytime, the flame seemed to eliminate Jason's face which had a grin covering it.
